District 14-2A-II, the football home to both D’Hanis and Sabinal, will be a seven-team league once again, as announced Monday, Feb. 2, by the University Interscholastic League.

The UIL’s Reclassification and Realignment revealed that all six current members – also including Brackett, Center Point, Junction and La Pryor – will be joined by Harper for the coming two years. Harper’s enrollment fell below the 175 cutoff marking the dividing line between 2A-Div. I and 2A-Div. II. The Longhorns will effectively take the place of Rocksprings, which began the last two-year realignment in 14-2A-II, but after the 2024 football season, announced plans to play six-man football, effective with the 2025 season.

D’Hanis is the only school in the district with 1A enrollment numbers, eligible to play six-man. As always, the Cowboys are opting up to play 2A, 11-man ball.

Again this year, 14-2A-II will be paired with 13-2A-II at bi-district. Membership in that district has changed since last time, but it still includes Bartlett, Burton, Milano, Snook and Somerville, along with new members Bremond, Chilton and Holland. Former members Granger and Iola have moved up to 2A-Div. I. Two district members, Snook and McDade ended their 2025 seasons midway through the year, citing not enough players  to continue. Snook continued playing a JV schedule last season, and will be back in the district next fall. McDade, however, continued only with a junior high schedule, and will not be playing varsity football for the next two years.

1A volleyball

D’Hanis’ five-team volleyball district will get even smaller in the fall, dropping to just four teams. District 30-A will consist of the Cowgirls, plus Knippa, Medina and Utopia.

Former member Leakey has been sent west as part of three-team District 29-A, along with Comstock and Rocksprings, which will be starting volleyball this fall.

None of the 1A volleyball districts in Region IV has more than four members.

1A Basketball

The current 1A basketball district of which D’Hanis is a member will remain unchanged next year.

Members of District 31-A, along with D’Hanis, are Comstock, Knippa, Leakey, Medina, Nueces Canyon, Rocksprings and Utopia.

The bi-district opponents comprising 32-A are Benavides, Bruni, Lasara, McMullen County, Pawnee, San Isidro and San Perlita.

What’s amazing is that all districts in Region IV-1A basketball are unchanged from the 2024 alignment, with a single exception. Current 30-A member Matagorda, which turned in an enrollment of just 29 students this year, has discontinued team sports and was removed from that district.

2A Volleyball

Sabinal’s volleyball district 30-2A will incur only one change from the last go-round.

Joining Sabinal, Brackett, Charlotte, La Pryor and SA Stacey is Dilley, which is dropping from 3A. Technically, Dilley is replacing SA Basse charter school, which participated in the district in the 2024-25 school year, but the school has since permanently closed.

Serving as the bi-district opponents from 29-2A are Center Point, Harper, Johnson City, Junction and Sonora.

2A Basketball

The Yellowjackets’ basketball district is switching numbers to 29-2A (from 30-2A), and carries with it quite a few membership changes. Still around with Sabinal are Brackett, La Pryor and Stacey. Joining them are Center Point, Harper and Johnson City, renegades from the current 29-2A, which has been completely blown up and scattered to three different regions (Mason and Junction to Region I, San Saba and Goldthwaite to Region II).

Current members of 30-2A which remain in that district are Charlotte and Falls City. They’re now joined by Dilley, Freer, Kenedy, Pettus and Three Rivers.

Realignments for all other UIL activities will be released sometime before the end of March.
