Zinsmeyer, Valdez to wed


     Mr. and Mrs. Gary Zinsmeyer of Hondo would like to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Gari Nell, to Gunnar Kyle Valdez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lucio Valdez of Ingram.

     Gari Nell is a graduate of Texas A&M with a degree in Marine Sciences and is currently employed at the Downtown Aquarium in Houston as a biologist/diver.  

     Gunnar is a graduate of Texas A&M with a degree in Maritime Administration and is currently Captain of the privately owned fishing yacht, Genesis, out of Galveston.

     The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Jerome and Vivian Zinsmeyer, William and Laura Nell Stone, and Frances Stone. 

     The prospective groom is the grandson of Jo Ann Cote of Galveston, the late Dan Cote Sr. and the late Guadalupe and Lucio Valdez Sr.

     The wedding will take place November 20, 2021, at St. John’s Day Chapel in Hondo. The couple will reside in Texas City.

Aken, LaPorte to wed


     Robbie and Jennifer LaPorte of Hondo are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Janell, to Joshua Brian Aken, son of Jonathan and Jennifer Aken of Hondo.  

     Rachel and Joshua are high school sweethearts who have dated for seven years and are now ready to tie the knot.

     The bride-to-be is a 2017 graduate of Hondo High School and a 2020 graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education.  She is employed by Northside ISD in San Antonio as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher for three and four-year old children.

     The prospective groom is a 2018 graduate of Hondo High School and is currently employed by Gladiator Roofing Company in Hondo.

     A November wedding is planned followed by a honeymoon in Mexico.
