Castroville’s annual Old Fashioned Christmas celebration opens its gates Friday at 6 p.m. in the heart of downtown. The two-day event on Houston Square goes from 6-9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Sponsored by the Castroville Area Chamber of Commerce, Old Fashioned Christmas features vendors who offer Christmas-themed crafts, woodworking, handmade jewelry, candles and crocheted goods, plus food and live entertainment. 45th Hondo tournament gets underway By Jeff Berger Anvil Herald Publisher The 45th edition of the Hondo Basketball Tournament will get started Thursday morning, Dec. 4, with ten boys’ teams and six girls’ teams competing for honors.
