On Monday, April 20, Medina County Commissioners Court authorized a Resolution to submit an application for the Texas Historical Commission Courthouse Preservation Program Round XIV, Grant for Fiscal Year 2026-2027 (see April 20 issue). If THC approves the grant, the full restoration will take the Courthouse, located at 1100 16th St., Hondo, back to the 1942 time period (shown in the photograph above). The Work Projects Administration (WPA) completed the work between 1939-1942. The grant covers restoration of the courthouse only. It does not include restoration of the original, Old Medina County Jail (far right).
