The Medina County Tax Office will reopen today at its new location, 1502 Avenue M, in Hondo. The county purchased the former Community National Bank building at that location a couple of years ago planning for growth. The former tax office at 1102 15th Street has been closed since Tuesday for the big move. Citizens will be able to take care of their property taxes and buy new tags or license plates for their cars during the same hours -- Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- beginning today, but with an added convenience. “Now there is a drive-through available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,” said Doug Self, facilities, IT and systems manager in the Medina County Judge’s Office. “This should be a big benefit for people with disabilities, the elderly and people with a lot of kids in the car,” added Melissa Lutz, Medina County Tax Assessor-Collector.
