Early voting for the State Constitutional Amendment Election, coupled with a Hondo City Council special election and City Charter amendment vote, is underway through Friday, Oct. 31.
On Monday and Tuesday, 287 voters had gone to the polls in Medina County.
Voters in the county – and across the State of Texas – are deciding the fate of 17 constitutional amendments.
In Hondo, voters are considering nine propositions to the Hondo City Charter, and there is a special city council election for the unexpired Place 2 term, left vacant by the resignation of Joe Claire over the summer.
Three candidates have filed for the at-large vacancy – Angela Saathoff, Raul “Bigg” Ytuarte and Benjamin “B.J.” McCollum.
The winner will serve the remainder of the unexpired term, or until May 2027.
There is also a Natalia ISD trustee election on ballots within that school district. Jaime Gomez, Danielle Alderete and Anthony Zapata are the three candidates, two of whom will be elected.
Early voting sites are:
• Medina County Courthouse Annex, 1300 Ave. M, Room 110, Hondo;
• Medina County Precinct 2 Annex, 8366 FM 471 South, Castroville; and
• Medina County Precinct 4 Annex, 3317 Hwy 132 North, Devine.
Polls will be open Thursday and Friday, Oct. 23-24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; on Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 27-29, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 30-31, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4, when polls at eight sites around the county will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
