Get ready to hear some great Country Music March 29 at the third annual Old Town D’Hanis Music Festival.

The event, in Downtown D’Hanis, will feature 11 singers and songwriters from throughout Texas. It will begin at 1 p.m. and finish when the last chord is strummed during the free-for-all jam session that Sunday night.

Although tables are sold out, bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the family atmosphere with live music, food, beer and vendors, as well as a silent and live auction. The D’Hanis Lions Club will sell hamburgers at the event.

The festival is the brainchild of D’Hanis resident and national touring artist Jamie Lin Wilson. Multiple worldwide touring songwriters will be there to provide entertainment throughout the day.

This includes Cody Canada (of Cross Canadian Ragweed), Crystal City native Max & Heather Stalling, Courtney Patton, Houston Marchman of Castroville, Walt Wilkins, and Charlie Stout, along with local artists Weston Ripps, Jeremy Richards, Chesney Jo, Landry Scott Ritter, and Hondo’s Hugo Castillo.

The event is sponsored by Keep D’Hanis Beautiful, which is donating the proceeds of the festival to Finger Memorial Park, located 332 CR 5225 in D’Hanis.

Wilson, who is president of the non-profit, said, “Keep D’Hanis Beautiful is proud to be hosting the Old Town D’Hanis Music Festival.

“We think it’s important to bring the community together to make big things happen, as well as showing visitors how great this town is. Without the monetary support incorporation brings, small towns like D’Hanis rely on donations and volunteers to keep the streets clean and to provide a lot of infrastructure.

She added, “The Finger Memorial Park has become an integral part of our community, and we are proud to support it with this year’s festival. Tell all your friends.”

Proceeds of  the festival will go to benefit Finger Memorial Park, located at 332 CR 5225 in D’Hanis.

With 18 acres donated by the Jim and Bernice Finger Family and named for former Country Mart owner and San Antonio Spurs statistician Joe Finger.

Joe Finger served on the D’Hanis School Board and was interested in providing a place for D’Hanis residents to play sports, get together and get some exercise.

The park is nearly halfway completed; so far it has a walking trail, playground, sand volleyball pit, pickleball courts and basketball court, soccer complex and Little League Field.

This year’s goal is to put a roof over the pavilion with a rain catchment system to cut down on costs for watering trees the fields. A softball field and senior league baseball field are additional goals.

Tickets cost $35 through Sunday, March 22, then go to up $45 for adults. Tickets for children ages 6 to 14 are $10. Kids 5 and younger can attend for free. To buy tickets, visit https://keepdhanisbeautiful.org
