Area communities to host National Nights Out
On the second Tuesday of October Hondo, D’Hanis and Sabinal will be holding 2026 National Night Out (NNO) events to celebrate and encourage community partnerships and safer neighborhoods.
Hondo
As in every year since 1998, Hondo Police Department is hosting (NNO) from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 6 in the 1100 block of 16th Street (between Avenues M and K). The annual, free-to-the-public event, in its 43rd year nationally, is offering something for everyone.
More than 60 entities will set up booths providing hot dogs, drinks, snacks, games and information. Always a big hit with the kids will be a visit by AirLIFE Texas Helicopter.
So, come join in the family fun, including dancing in front of DJ Lu’s booth.
D’Hanis
D’Hanis Volunteer Fire Department and Medina County first responders are hosting their free NNO in downtown D’Hanis Oct. 6. The event begins at 6 p.m. with Seci Reyes singing the “The Star Spangled Banner.”
Entertainment will be provided by Hugo Castillo and DJ Chala. Bring a food item for Holy Cross Food Pantry and get your ticket for the door prizes.
Come out for family fun with free food as long as it lasts, games for kids, prizes and information booths.
Sabinal
The City of Sabinal gives a shout out for their free-to-the-public NNO community celebration Oct. 6 from 6-8 p.m. in Sabinal City Park, north of US 90 in the 500 block of North Center Street.
Participants can enjoy free hot dogs, drinks (water and sodas), popcorn and snow cones while being entertained by DJ Anthony.
Everyone is invited to participate in the fun activities and games including two bouncy castles for the kids. AirLIFE Texas Helicopter will also arrive, according to Sabinal’s NNO organizers.
