0% loans available for Hondo businesses

Loans of up to $35,000 at 0% interest are now available to Hondo businesses through an agreement between the City of Hondo and its Economic Development Corporation, and LiftFund, a nonprofit small-business lender based in San Antonio.

The loans are available to for-profit small businesses located in or relocating to the Hondo city limits.

The funds can be used for startup expenses, inventory, payroll, business growth and expansion, equipment and machinery, and working capital for business-related expenses.

The Hondo Economic Development Corporation set aside $100,000 this year to pay the interest on loans made through LiftFund for Hondo businesses so that their rate would be a fixed 0%. Business owners should apply to LiftFund, which will handle the applications, credit approval, underwriting and funding. 

LiftFund was founded in 2016 in San Antonio to provide low-cost loans to small businesses. It is now providing services nationally and recently received an award for providing loans to small businesses in the Texas Hill Country following the July 4, 2025, flood.
