Another school year has begun in the Hondo ISD, and, as of the third day of classes on Monday, Aug. 17, the district reports 1,695 students in attendance. Monday’s enrollment at the four campuses included: • Meyer Elementary, 408 • Woolls Intermediate, 370 • McDowell MS, 399 • Hondo HS, 518 Opening day attendance in the 2025-26 school year was 1,720.

Hondo High School will be hosting Military Appreciation Night on Friday, Aug. 28, at Barry Field, when the Owls host Ingram in the 2026 football season opener. Active military and veterans will be recognized pregame. Anyone wishing to participate is encouraged to arrive by 6:30, before the 7 p.m. kickoff.
