Hondo area residents now have another way to wash their cars — BlueWave Express Carwash opened in the final days of December. Founded in 1886, the paper has been owned by just two families since the start of the 20th century. Fletcher Davis bought the Castroville Anvil (founded 1886) and the Hondo Herald (founded 1890) in about 1900, consolidated the two, and it’s been going as the Anvil Herald without missing a week for the last century and a quarter.
