HHS sending 7 to regional golf
Uvalde -- The Hondo girls’ golf team, and two members of the boys’ team are advancing to the Region IV-4A tournament, after their showings Monday and Tuesday, March 25-26, in the District 29-4A tourney.
At the tournament, held at the Uvalde golf course, the Hondo girls’ team placed second in district. Freshman Mallory Matthews had a two-day score of 170 (86-84) to finish as the district’s second medalist. The region-qualifying team consists of Matthews, Coryn Aken, Jody Dittmar, Camryn Rothe and Caeleigh Muennink.
On the boys’ side, freshman Kaden English was the district’s top medalist with his personal best score of 155 (76-79), to advance to region. Colby LaPorte is also a region qualifier, with a 180 total (87-93). Also representing the Owls at district were Zachary Heilig, Jose Garza and Curtis Neuman. Kristin Muennink is the team’s first-year head coach.
The region tournament will be in Corpus Christi on Monday-Tuesday, April 22-23.
