Gonzalez reps D’Hanis at state golf
Leander -- With a two-day total score of 187, D’Hanis golfer Bino Gonzalez placed tied for 33rd on Monday and Tuesday, April 27-28, in the UIL 1A State Boys’ Golf Tournament at Crystal Falls Golf Club.
The junior’s first-day total of 94 put him in 38th place out of 70 competitors. His second day score of 93 moved him up five spots in the standings.
Garden City was the state team champion with a 717, followed by Wildorado (724), and D’Hanis’ district rival Knippa (724). Wildorado won a playoff hole against the Crushers to claim second place.
The top three medalists were Hunter Corman of Wildorado (74-73--147), Bo Bradley of Texline (77-74--151) and Froylan Agundiz of Earth-Springlake (79-79--158).
Abbott and Brookeland were the other two teams representing Region IV at the state tourney.
Knippa was represented by James Miller (163, tie 6th), Michael Stroff (181, 27th), Victor Ortiz (188, tie 35th), Cole Monk (191, 46th) and Ray Rodriguez (213, 62nd).
