Steelman 6th in UIL boys state golf tournament

 

     Austin -- D’Hanis’ Nolan Steelman fired a two-day total of 172, to finish in a tie for sixth place at the UIL Boys’ Golf State Championships. The 1A boys’ tourney was held Monday and Tuesday, May 20-21, at Lions Municipal Golf Course.

     Steelman recorded an 88 on Monday and an 84 on Tuesday to finish tied with two other golfers at 172. That total was nine strokes out of second place. No one, however, was close to the 1A boys’ champion, Seth Bearden of Crowell, who shot a 2-over-par 144 and was the champion by 19 strokes.

     Garden City was the team champion with a total score of 710. Clyde Eula was runner-up with a 714.
