Mask requirements dropped at D’Hanis ISD outdoor events
The D’Hanis ISD Board of Trustees voted at its Monday, April 5, meeting to lift students’ face mask requirements at outdoor activities, including sporting events and PE classes. The masking procedures will remain in effect in the classroom and during class transition time.
In addition, the DISD will not limit the number of spectators to outdoor sports events, nor will fans be required to wear masks at DISD outdoor activities.
New DISD Superintendent Brian Thompson said in a letter to the district, “The school board will revisit the masking procedures at a future meeting. Our top priority still remains the safety of our staff and students.”
He noted that the option to wear a mask or facial shield is still within everyone’s right. “I want to thank our students and community for being fully cooperative with our procedures this year,” said Supt. Thompson. “It is greatly appreciated.”
These changes apply only to D’Hanis home events. Mask requirements at other venues are subject to the policies of those particular school districts.
