It’s tourney time

45th Hondo tournament gets underway

The 45th edition of the Hondo Basketball Tournament will get started Thursday morning, Dec. 4, with ten boys’ teams and six girls’ teams competing for honors.

The boys’ division will be divided into two pools, while the girls’ division will play a complete round-robin. Both divisions will have five guaranteed games.

Girls’ teams will play twice Thursday, twice Friday and once more on Saturday. The team with the best record will be tournament champion. 

Boys’ teams will play two pool games each of the first two days, and will play the team with a similar finishing position in a final round contest on Saturday.

Games will be played in the HHS main gym and the Activities Center all weekend. 

In the girls’ field are Hondo, Pearsall, Carrizo Springs and three San Antonio schools: St. Anthony, Lutheran and Somerset Academy. 

Hondo is in Pool A in the boys’ tournament, along with New Braunfels Long Creek, and from San Antonio: YMLA, Great Hearts-Forest Heights and Brackenridge. In Pool B are Boerne Geneva, Carrizo Springs, Kerrville Tivy, SA Fox Tech and the Cibolo Steele JV.
