Harlandale downs MV squads

Four Harlandale players scored in double figures Friday, Dec. 21, as the Indians defeated Medina Valley, 68-47, in the District 29-AAAA boys’ basketball opener.

The Panthers were led by 15 points from Danny Blake, with eight from Dallas Gonzales.

Monday, Dec. 31, the Panthers will host Kennedy as district play continues.

In the meantime, the MV boys will go to the Kerrville Tivy Tournament Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27-28.

The Panther girls’ team was handed its first loss in district on Friday, 39-34, at home to Harlandale.

Brooke Mangold scored 13 to lead the Panthers, while Morgan Mangold added nine.

On Monday, Dec. 31, the Panthers will visit Kennedy in district action.

Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27-28, the MV girls will be one of seven girls’ teams in the Boerne tournament, hosted jointly by Boerne and Champion High Schools.

MV will take on Champion Thursday at 10:30, then will face Eagle Pass Winn at 1:30. Both games will be in the Champion HS main gym. On Friday, the Panthers will face Hondo at 10:30, and Seguin at 6:00, both in Champion’s auxiliary gym.
