Remaining local teams all reach end of road
Hondos Minor Division Softball team (age 9-10), playing in Uvalde,
was undefeated heading into play last Tuesday. But by the end of the day
on Wednesday, they had been eliminated.
A 5-1 loss in the winners bracket final to Pleasanton, followed by
a 17-6 loss to Devine in a survival game on Wednesday, marked the end of
the road for Hondos team.
In Junior Division Baseball (age 13-14), Hondo lost in a high-scoring
elimination contest last Wednesday, 15-14, to Pleasanton.
Also last Wednesday, Hondos 10-11 All-Star Baseball team was
eliminated, 11-6, by Pearsall.
All tournaments are double-elimination. The winning team in each
division will advance to their respective sectional tournament in Texas
West-Section 3. Tournaments this year will be held at Alamo Heights, San
Angelo and Uvalde, which started yesterday (Wednesday), July 14.
