PHIL R. AELVOET 

Phil Richard Aelvoet, age 52, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 23, 1949, in San Antonio to Phil and Laura Aelvoet. He grew up farming with his family and at the time of his death, he was employed at the Texas A&M Agricultural Research Facility in Uvalde. Rosary: 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at St. John Berchman Catholic Church. Interment: San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery No. 2. The family suggests donations be given to the charity of your choice. 

Marie S. Anz 

Marie S. Anz, born June 16, 1918, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at the age of 83. She was a native and former resident of D'Hanis and lived most of her life in San Antonio. Rosary: 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, in Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Honey Creek. Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Honey Creek.

MAURINE BATOT 

Maurine Batot, age 90, of Jourdanton passed away Sept. 26, 2001. She was born in Carrizo Springs, Jan. 11, 1911. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Interment: Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section. 

Thelma K. (Schlentz) Brucks 

Thelma K. (Schlentz) Brucks of Hondo passed away Sept. 23, 2001, at the age of 84. She was born Nov. 7, 1916, in Hondo. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hondo. Interment: Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. 

Christina Marie Bupp 

Christina Marie Bupp, age 23, of Campwood passed away Sept. 18, 2001, near Campwood, as the result of an automobile accident. She was born Sept. 26, 1977, in Denton. Rosary and funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery. 

HUETTE 'SONNY' CAMMACK 

Huette 'Sonny' Cammack, age 58, of rural Hondo died Sunday, Sept. 30, at his ranch home. He was born April 23, 1943, in Martinsburg, WV. He was founder of Alamo Water in San Antonio. He was very active in the water quality industry and was a past president of the Florida Water Quality Association and the Texas Water Quality Association. He was currently a member of the board of directors of the National Water Quality Association. He was a member of the National Rifle Assn. and Quihi Gun Club. Funeral service: Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in San Antonio.

Juan T. Coronado
   Juan T. Coronado, age 66, of Hondo passed away Sept. 9, 2001.
   Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Wedesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment: Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

ROBERT W. DePUY 

Robert W. DePuy Sr., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at his home in San Antonio. He was born Feb. 5, 1916, in San Antonio to Jay and Beulah Stearns DePuy. He was a lifelong South Texas resident, he attended San Antonio Junior Academy, Texas Military Institute, Schreiner Institute and college in Tempe, AZ. He was a well known businessman and rancher in Central Texas. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.

Michael John Dubray

Michael John Dubray of Englewood, FL, passed away Sept. 11, 2001, at the age of 47. He was born Nov. 1, 1953. Rosary and Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. Interment: Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. 

Harriet Belle Gaut Ephraim
     Harriet Belle Gaut Ephraim, age 98, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, in Denton. She was born Feb. 9, 1903, in Smithville to Samuel Perry and Allie  Albina Baker Gaut. She was a teacher. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, J. P. Ephraim,  a banker in D'Hanis for 67 years.
    Graveside service: 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, at Hondo Cemetery, Woodmen of the World Section.

Iona Carlson Fetner
    Iona Carlson Fetner died on Sept 3, 2001, in Hondo at the age of 93.
    Iona was born Jan. 23, 1908, to Charlie and Ellen Lohman in Travis County  near  historic Lohman's Crossing, named after Iona's great-grandfather, John Henry Lohman, an immigrant from Hanover, Germany.
    Funeral service: Amey-Rockwood Lane Funeral Home in Austin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7. Interment: Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, 14501 I-35 North.
    Memorials can be made to any one of the libraries in the Hondo public schools or to the Hondo Church of Christ.

A.W. "Bill" Fiorenza 

A.W. "Bill" Fiorenza, age 72, of Natalia, passed away Sept. 12, 2001, in San Antonio. He was born May 12, 1929, in Donaldsonville, LA. Mr. Fiorenza was a claims adjuster at USAA before his retirement. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Interment: Evergreen Cemetery in Devine. Memorials be made to: St. Jude's Ranch for Children, 1400 Ridge Creek Lane, Bulverde, TX 78163-9125.

CARMEN M. FLOYD 

Carmen M. Floyd, age 71, of Memphis, TN, passed away Sept. 30, 2001. Mrs. Floyd was a housewife and a member of Getwell Road Church of Christ. Funeral service:11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Snowdown Church of Christ. Interment: Snowdown Church of Christ Cemetery. 

Narcissa Gomez 

Narcissa Gomez, age 73, of Hondo passed away Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at Harvest Care Nursing Center. She was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Yancey, to Jose and Macedonia Santos Pedroza. Funeral Mass: Saturday, Sept. 15, Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. Interment: Yancey Cemetery in Yancey. 

Charles L. Halbardier
    Charles L. Halbardier of Hondo passed away Sept. 1, 2001, at the age of 61. He was born in San Antonio June 5, 1940, to Charlie H. and Laura E. Halbardier. He graduated from Northside High School in San Antonio.
    On May 13, 1960, he married Annie J. Bonewitz and in December they moved to Hondo to farm.
    Funeral service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hondo

Inez Alma Biry Haass
   Inez Alma Biry Haass, age 83, of Devine passed away Sept. 7, 2001. She was born in Hurley, NM, July 22, 1918, to Frank J. and Martha C. (Bippert) Biry.
   She lived in the Biry community most of her life. She married Randolph Haass on Valentinešs Day 1939.
   Mrs. Haass worked briefly at the Hondo Air Base during the war.
   Funeral service: 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment: Hondo Cemetery, Woodman of the World Section.
   Memorials may be sent to St. Paul Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 58, Hondo, TX 78861 or charity of  choice.

Harry Lee Jacoby 
    Harry Lee Jacoby, age 78, of Atascosa passed away Sept. 2, 2001, in San Antonio. He was born Mar. 31, 1923.
    Funeral service: Thursday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Graveside service: 2 p.m. at the Stonewall Community Cemetery in Stonewall.

ANGELA JARAMILLO 

Angela Jaramillo, age 86, of Devine passed away Sept. 29, 2001, in San Antonio. She was born in Devine on Nov. 14, 1914. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Agnes Biediger Mangold 

Agnes Biediger Mangold passed away on Sept. 24, 2001, at the age of 92. She was born Oct. 17, 1908, in Castroville. Agnes retired from Strauss-Frank after 32 years of service. Rosary: Sept. 26 at Zizik-Kearns Riebe-Saunders Funeral Home. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Burial: San Fernando Cemetery No. 2. The family suggests memorials be made to Morningside Ministries, St. Paul's Catholic Church or Vitas Hospice Vitas Care. 

Irene Mary Britsch Norwood

Irene Mary Britsch Norwood died in Madera, CA, on September 18, 2001.  She was born in Hondo, November 4, 1906.  Graveside service was conducted in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville, CA.  She was buried beside her late husband Steward Norwood.

Julia Postert Nuernberger, age 85, of Atascosa passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, in Lytle. She was born in Le Funeral service: 10 a.m. Monday. Oct. 1, at The United Methodist Church, Lytle. Interment: Lytle Masonic Cemetery. Family suggests memorials be made to the Lytle Masonic Cemetery, PO Box 562, Lytle, TX 78052. 

Anna Mae Powell
   Anna Mae Powell, age 93, of Devine passed away, Sept. 5, 2001, in Castroville. She was born in Lindsay, OK, Dec. 21, 1907.
   Graveside service: 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Yancey Cemetery.

Edren (Bohmfalk) Robins 

Edren (Bohmfalk) Robins, age 70, passed away Sept. 12, 2001, in New Braunfels after suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. She was born in New Fountain on Dec. 18, 1930. Edren enjoyed a 25 year career with the U.S. Civil Service at Kelly AFB and Battle Creek, MI. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at New Fountain United Methodist Church. Interment: New Fountain Cemetery. Memorials may be made to: ALS Association, South Texas Chapter, 6800 Park Ten Blvd., Suite 220 North, San Antonio, TX, 78213. 

ROBERT LOUIS THAYER 

Robert Louis Thayer, age 70, of Houston passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, in Houston. He was born Feb. 9, 1931, in Hondo, the son of Ernest B. and Ida Marie Senne Thayer. He served with the United States Air Force and was a retired machinist with the TRW Corporation in Houston. Graveside service: Saturday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m. in the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. 

JOHN H. WALKER 

John H. Walker, of Hondo passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, in San Antonio at the age of 75. He was born June 26, 1926, in Huntsville. He served in the United States Navy and retired from the Texas State Highway Department after 33 years of service. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment: Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. The family suggest memorials be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice. 

William H. (Brother Bill) Wiggins
    Born on April 29, 1922, William H. (Brother Bill) Wiggins finished his earthly mission on Sept. 1, 2001, in San Antonio.    He served his country in World War II as a lifeboat captain for the U.S. Coast Guard. Prior to his religious conversion, Brother Bill was a hard living and hard working jack-of-all-trades and one-time Texas Ranger.  After he retired from his career in law enforcement, he devoted his life to the service of others through God.
