Ernestina “Tina” Lara Mascorro Aguilera, age 41, of Castroville, passed away Sept. 22, 2006. Tina was born Sept. 8, 1965 in San Antonio. Visitation was on Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. The Rosary was recited Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville.

Henry Garnand Bales, age 97, of Devine passed away at his residence Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006. Visitation was held at the funeral home Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Jim Whitt officiating.

Donna Marie Siebeneicher Barlow, beloved wife of Thomas L. Barlow, age 61, passed away Sept. 6, 2006. She was born August 8, 1945. Visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service was Monday Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor David Mayer officiating. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Alberta Rico Benites, age 85, of Hondo, passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2006. She was born April 7, 1921, in Hondo. Rosary was recited Monday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m., and Funeral Mass was Tuesday, at 1 p.m., both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Delvin John Bippert, age 75, of San Antonio, passed away Sept. 12, 2006. Delvin was born Nov. 18, 1930, in San Antonio. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home had visitation from 12 to 5 p.m. Thurs. Sept. 14. The Funeral Mass held on Thurs. Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. The Rosary recited Friday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Entombment followed the Rosary at St. Louis Garden Mausoleum, Castroville.

Lorine Braun Bippert, age 88, of La Coste, passed away Sept. 30, 2006 in San Antonio. She was born Nov. 25, 1917 in Bexar County. Visitation was held Monday, Oct. 2, from 12 until 8 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. The Funeral Service was held Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Castroville. Interment followed the service in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Castroville.

“Jerry” Jerome F. Christilles, age 79, of San Antonio, passed away Sept. 2, 2006 in San Antonio. Interment was held at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville. Memorial Mass held Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church.

Elias Ortiz Contreras, age 67, of Sabinal, passed away September 26, 2006, at St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital in San Antonio. He was born on Nov. 5, 1938 in Sabinal to Jose and Maria Contreras. Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sabinal.

Dwight Melton Daniels, age 78, of Castroville, passed away Aug. 31, 2006, in San Antonio, TX. Dwight was born March 19, 1928, in Willow, OK. A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Castroville.

Juana (Rodriguez) Garcia, age 86, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006. She was born July 12, 1920, in Long Beach, CA. Rosary was recited Friday at 7 p.m. at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass was held Saturday, Sept. 30, 4 p.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Elizabeth Callie Creed Hogue, born June 7, 1912, died September 21, 2006 at her daughter’s home in Corpus Christi. Funeral service was held at Hurley Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 25 from at 1 p.m. when a celebration of her life was held. She was interred beside her husband at Lytle Community Cemetery.

Consuelo “Connie” Surita Huron, age 83, of La Coste, passed away Sept. 13, 2006. Connie was born July 28, 1923 in San Antonio. Visitation was on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006 from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Funeral Mass Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Rosary on Monday, Sept. 18, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Interment at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery.

Thomas Earl Jacobs, III, age 49, of Hondo, passed away Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006. He was born Nov. 30, 1956, in San Antonio. Graveside service was Tuesday, Oct. 3, 11 a.m., at Yancey Cemetery.

Fred Sylvan Jungman, age 86, of Rio Medina, passed away Sept. 30, 2006 at his home. Fred was born Oct. 18, 1919 in Castroville. Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 1, from 12 to 5:30 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass was held on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. The Rosary was recited Monday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment followed the Rosary at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville.

Colonel Thomas Dale “Tom” Kotowski (USAF, Ret.), age 88, died Sept. 23, 2006, in Hondo. He was born in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Nov. 1, 1917. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at First United Methodist Church of Hondo with Pastor Andy Tyson and Pastor Bert Clayton officiating. Committal service at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Don Lee, passed away, Sept. 14, 2006, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. A memorial celebration of his life was held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, Castroville.

Juan Navarro Martinez, 81, of Devine passed away Friday, September 22, 2006 in San Antonio. Visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 26 from 2 to 9 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Terry Wayne Mercer, age 50, passed away Friday, September 22, 2006 in Devine. Graveside services and Interment was held Monday, September 25, at 11a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Keith Dennis officiating.

Osmer Lee Moss, 90, formerly of Hondo, passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, at Buckner Villa Siesta Home in Austin. Born June 24, 1916, in Hearne. Funeral service, led by Chaplain Ed Gates, was at First Baptist Church of Hondo on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. Graveside service at Hondo Oakwood Cemetery was by Hondo Masons .

Anthony ‘Tony’ Nickachos, age 86, died Sept. 30, 2006, in Athens, Greece. He resided in Mesa, AZ, at the time of his death. A Greek Orthodox funeral, including a U.S. Naval service, was held October 3 in Athens. A second-generation Greek-American, Tony was granted honorary Greek citizenship following his death. A memorial service held at noon, Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at New Fountain United Methodist Church and Cemetery, where his remains interred in the plot of the Hardt family.

Georgian Mary Heaney Ozuk, age 84, of San Antonio, passed away Sept. 30, 2006. Georgian was born Nov. 25, 1921, in Chicago, IL. A Prayer Service was held Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. The Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment followed the Mass at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville.

Raymond F. Parsons, age 87, of D’Hanis passed away Sunday, September 3, 2006, after a short illness. He was born in Fredricktown, OH, on June 9, 1919. Graveside services and interment with military honors were held Thursday, Sept. 7, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Armando Pompa, age 70, of Devine passed away Sept. 10, 2006. He was born July 17, 1936 in Devine. Funeral service heldThursday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Johseph’s Catholic Church. Father Jose F. Puente officiated. Interment in the Perez Family Cemetery.

Sharon Lynn Ranzau, age 64, of Devine passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at her residence. She was born in Bogalusa, LA. Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29 in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home. Interment followed at Black Creek Cemetery.

Gilbert Carl Schultze, Sr., age 76, of Rio Medina, passed away August 29, 2006 in San Antonio. Gilbert was born April 14, 1930 in Marion, Guadalupe County. The family will hold private memorial services at a later date.

Sibyl Smart, of Waco, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 29, 2006 at the age of 89. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Bellmead Funeral Home. Graveside service and interment was held Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Waco Memorial Park.

Donna Eichler Gross Smith, age 80, of Rio Medina, passed away Sept. 3, 2006 in Castroville. She was born July 4, 1926 in Pembroke, NY. Memorial Service held Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006 at 7 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, Castroville.

Zelda Irene Stephens, age 85, of Hondo, passed away at her home Saturday Sept. 30. 2006. She was born in Hondo on February 19, 1921. The funeral service was at Shepard Kind Lutheran Church in San Antonio on Wed. at 1:30 p.m., Graveside service followed at the Hondo Cemetery.

Neera Geanette Tijerina, 28, of San Antonio passed away Monday, Sept. 25, 2006. Visitation Thursday, Sept. 28, beginning at 1 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral service Friday, 10 a.m. Both services at Castillo Mission Funeral Home, 520 Gen. Mc Mullen Dr. Interment at Hondo Cemetery Guadalupe Section at 12:30 p.m.

Claude Eugene Whited, age 73, of Castroville, passed away at home on Sept. 8, 2006. He was an avid fisherman, born Dec. 18, 1932, in Lebanon, VA. Graveside Services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.

Mabel “Eileene” Wilcox, formerly of Lytle, was born on August 15, 1923 and passed away in Seattle on Sept. 10, 2006, at the age of 83, after a brief battle with Cancer. Eileene was best known for being the proud Owner of The Wagon Wheel in Lytle, for over 20 Years. A Gravesite service was held on Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Lytle Community Cemetery at noon.

Brock Ryan Windle, age 21, of Castroville passed away Sept. 12, 2006. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home was open for Visitation Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006 from 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A Memorial Service held Friday, Sept. 15, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, Castroville.

Anna Theresa Burell Ybarra, age 93, left us ever so softly on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006 in San Antonio, with her loved ones by her side. She was born May 21, 1913 in Rio Medina. Visitation was on Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 12 to 5:30 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Rosary recited Thursday, Sept. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville.

Gregorio Martinez Ybarra, age 95, of La Coste, passed away Sept. 20, 2006. Gregorio was born Mar. 13, 1911 in La Coste. Visitation was on Friday, Sept. 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. The Rosary was recited Friday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. The Funeral Mass held on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery, La Coste, TX.

Jason Paul Zepeda, age 22, of Lytle passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, in Lytle. He was born in San Antonio on March 7, 1984. Funeral service was at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, officiated by Father Romeo Olivares. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
