Mabel Tschirhart Adam, 90, of Castroville, went to heaven on October 24, 2007. Visitation was Friday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. Rosary was Friday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Chapel in
Castroville. Funeral Mass was held Saturday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment followed the Mass in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.

Mark Avila, age 32, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007. While riding his motorcycle, on his way home from work he was hit from behind by a drunk driver. Visitation held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary at Hondo Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 12. A 1 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. John’s Catholic Church on Saturday Oct. 13. Interment in Hondo Cemetery.

Ervin Balzen, age 70, passed away on October 29, 2007. Graveside service held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, at Quihi Cemetery, Quihi.

James Arthur Benton... , age 45, of Houston, passed away in Houston. James was born Mar. 27, 1962 in San Antonio. The Mass of Resurrection was Monday,
Oct. 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment followed the Mass at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.

Consuelo (Constante) Correa of Hondo, passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at the age of 87. Consuelo was born in D’Hanis Sept. 15, 1920. Rosary was led by Epifania Ybarra on Monday, Oct. 29, and Funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr. Ken Dakin on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m., both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Julio Cuellar, age 83, of La Coste, passed away Oct. 24, 2007 in San Antonio. Julio was born Jan. 28, 1924 in La Coste. Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 28, from 2 to 8 p.m. Rosary was Sunday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Chapel in Castroville. Funeral Mass was held Monday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment followed the Mass in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery in La Coste.

Justin Wade Davis, age 27, of Castroville, was called into the presence of the Lord at his home on Oct. 12, 2007. Visitation was held Monday, Oct. 15, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Mass of Resurrection was Monday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. The Rosary was Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Interment followed the Rosary at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Helen Chambers Elliott, born on February 5, 1927, went to be with the Lord on October 15, 2007, at the age of 80. A small graveside ceremony was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, at the Hondo Cemetery.

Elmer Roy Faseler, age 79, of Yancey went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 10, 1927, in Yancey. Funeral service was at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, at Yancey Methodist Church with Rev. Vance Elliott, Rev. Danette Howell, and Rev. David Crabtree officiating.

Alejos Fernandez, age 78 of Bandera, Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2007 in a San Antonio. He was born on July 17, 1929 in Castroville. A Rosary was recited on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. at Grimes
Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass was Monday Oct. 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Father George Montague officiating. Interment followed at New Catholic Cemetery.

Karron Blanton Folsom, age 60, of Atascosa, passed away Oct. 2, 2007 at home. She was born Oct. 12, 1946 in San Antonio. Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Funeral Service was Monday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Interment followed at 1 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Federico M. Gallegos, age 85, of Devine passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2007 in San Antonio. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, in the
Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home in Devine. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.

Maria Alvesa “Bessie” Garcia, age 57, of San Antonio, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007. She was born on Mar. 8, 1950, . Funeral service at First Baptist Church, Hondo, on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 3 p.m., was led by Pastor C. Ross Chandler and John McAnelly. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Robert (Bob) Golden (77) of Benbrook, TX, passed away on October 21, 2007. Bob was born March 6, 1930, in Auburn, NY. A memorial service was held Thursday, October 25, 2007 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Fort Worth, TX. A private family service was held at the National Cemetery of Texas in Dallas.

Rene Joe Gonzales, age 48 passed away on Oct. 23, 2007. Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday Oct. 26. A 7 p.m. Prayer Service was held at Hondo Funeral Home on Friday Oct. 26. A 10 a.m. Funeral Service was held at Hondo Funeral Home on Saturday Oct. 27. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Letha Polster Hardin US Army Veteran W.W. II Nurses Corp, of Castroville, departed this life October 5, 2007 in Castroville. Born November 24, 1923 in St. Louis MO. Visitation from 11 – 11:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 11:45 a.m. on Thurs. Oct. 11, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 30th and Ave. Q in Hondo. Interment at 2:15 p.m. in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Alejandra Herrera, age 87, passed away on Oct. 22, 2007. Prayer service was held at Hondo Funeral Home at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24. A 2 p.m. funeral service was held at Hondo Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 25. Interment to follow in Hondo Cemetery.

Billie Grace Hurry, age 82, of Natalia passed away Monday, October 29, 2007, in San Antonio. Funeral service conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at
the First Baptist Church in Natalia, with interment following in Evergreen Cemetery.

Linda Augusta Wegner Husband, age 89, of Castroville passed away Oct. 15, 2007. Linda was born April 8, 1918, in Monteola. Graveside service held on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at the First Memorial Park 20355 Hwy 16 South San Antonio.

Ret. Lt. Col. Stephen A. Mullins, age 66, of Dilley, formerly of Flatwoods, KY. Passed away on Oct. 25, 2007. A 10 a.m. chapel service was held at Hondo Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 27. A 1 p.m. funeral service was held on Tues. Oct. 30, at Carman Funeral Home Flatwoods, KY. Interment followed in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens, Flatwoods, KY.

Ronald Ron Orta, age 61 of Granite Falls, Washington died October 29, 2007. He was born November 21, 1945 in Hondo. Funeral Mass was held at Saturday, Nov. 3, at St. Michaels Catholic Church.

Lucille Edna Perdue, age 86, of Devine, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2007, in Hondo. Visitation held Sunday, Oct. 7, at Hurley Funeral Home, Devine, from 2 until 9 p.m. The family received friends from 5 until 7p.m. Committal Services Monday, Oct. 8, at 1:30 p.m., at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.

Julio Sanchez Perez, a WWII veteran, passed away on October 31, 2007, at the age of 80 years. He was buried at Houston National Cemetery in Houston. Funeral arrangements for Rebecca (Torres) of Sealy, who passed away Sunday, November 18, 2007, are pending with Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. A complete obituary will be published next week.

Salome A. Perez Jr., age 58, of Devine passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2007. Visitation Friday, Oct. 12, at Hurley Funeral Home, Devine, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral service held Saturday, Oct. 13, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Devine. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Devine.

Reymundo B. Rodriguez Sr. of Hondo, age 76, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, after battling cancer. He was born Apr. 7, 1931, in Hondo. A Rosary, led by Jose Mares on Saturday, and Funeral Mass, celebrated Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. by Fr. Ken Dakin, for Reymundo and his son, Rey, were held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Reymundo D. Rodriguez Jr. of San Antonio, age 49, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, after a long illness. He was born Oct. 1, 1958, in Hondo. A Rosary, led by Jose Mares on Saturday, and Funeral Mass, celebrated Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. by Fr. Ken Dakin, for Rey and his father were held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Solea Leanna Rodriguez, of D’Hanis, passed away on October 4, 2007 at the age of 20. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Friday Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. Funeral Mass was held Saturday, Oct. 6, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D’Hanis. Interment followed in San Francisco Catholic Cemetery, D’Hanis.

Roy Wayne Russell, age 68, passed away Oct. 8, 2007, in Hondo. He was born Mar. 3, 1939, in Ft. Worth. Funeral service at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home, 2301 North Sylvania, in Ft. Worth at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Kimberlie Ann Ryniker, born July 14, 1970, passed away at the age of 37 on September 28, 2007 in Billings, Montana. Born in San Antonio. A memorial service was held in Castroville on November 3, 2007 at 3:00 at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home.

Harry James Schweers of Hondo, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at the age of 92. He was born Aug. 15, 1915, at the Schweers family home in the
Stackelpeterberg area of Medina County. Viewing will be Friday, Nov. 2, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Guinn-Horger
Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at
New Fountain United Methodist Church with Rev. Charlie Parker officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Quihi Cemetery.

Eugenia Decker Shinn, age 89, of San Antonio passed away on Oct. 15, 2007. Eugenia was born June 14, 1918, in Oklahoma City, OK. Graveside service was held on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. at the Castroville Community Cemetery in Castroville.

Kathryn Irene Kenney Smith, 79, of Somerset, went to heaven on October 29, 2007. Known by everyone as Irene, she was born Sept. 26, 1928, in San Antonio. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral at the
church. Funeral service Thursday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. at
Somerset United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Bexar Cemetery.

Lecil Howard Smith, age 78, of Devine passed away Saturday, October 27, 2007, in San Antonio. Graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at
Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, with interment immediately following.

Ima Nell Stein, age 91, of Lytle, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, in San Antonio. Funeral service was held Wednesday, Oct 17, at 3:30 p.m., in the Chapel of Hurley Funeral Home, Lytle. Private interment service was held at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.

Edward Norwood Wheeler died October 9, 2007, in Dallas, Texas after a long battle with five different types of cancer, heart disease, kidney failure and numerous other medical problems. He was two days shy of his 80th birthday. Dr. Wheeler was born October 11, 1927, in Yancey. Viewing at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Saturday, October 13, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Funeral services at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, 9200 Inwood Road, Dallas, on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 3:00 p.m. followed by a reception at the church from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Interment will be at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas.

Joy Lynn Herbort Wiemers of D’Hanis passed away in a San Antonio hospital on Friday, October 19, at the age of 53 years. Funeral services were held Monday, October 22, at Bethany Lutheran Church, with Rev. Casey Zesch officiating. Graveside services and interment followed in Der Stadt Friedhof.

Lucille (Lucy) Knight Wilson went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at the age of 93. Lucy was born on May 31, 1914, in Avery. Service for Lucy was held at the Hondo First Methodist Church on Sunday, Oct. 28. Interment followed at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Lucille’s sisters of the Eastern Star helped with the service which was officiated by Reverend Andy Tyson.
