July 26, 2010, at the age of 76. She was born Dec. 10, 1933.
Graveside Service was held at 9 a.m. Friday, July 30, at Fort Sam
Houston National Cemetery.
Barbara Biediger Groff-Haby entered rest Tuesday, July 27,
2010, at the age of 65, after a courageous battle with cancer. She
was born January 10, 1945. was held from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, July
29, followed by the recitation of the Rosary, and Mass of
Resurrection at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, all at St. Mark the
Evangelist Catholic Church in San Antonio. Interment in Holy Cross
Cemetery.
Melba Sue Holbrook, age 70 of San Antonio, passed away
Tuesday, July 20, 2010. She was born July 11, 1940, in Goliad. A
memorial service was held Friday, July 23 at Meadowlawn Funeral
Home in San Antonio.
John H. Ilse of Uvalde passed away July 16, 2010, at home
at the age of 99. He was born October 22, 1910, in Reedville.
Graveside services were held July 20, in the Sabinal Cemetery.
Ruth Marie Riff Shapiro, age 82 of New Fountain, passed
away Friday, July 23, 2010. She was born Sept. 10, 1927, in New
Fountain. Funeral service was held Tuesday, July 27 at New
Fountain United Methodist Church. Interment was at New Fountain
Cemetery.
James William “Sparky” Sparks passed away July 11,
2010, in Longview. He was born July 7, 1927 in Hallsville.
Graveside services were held at Forest Park Cemetery East, Houston
in Webster, July 15.
Julia Amber Tames, age 75 of Lytle, passed away peacefully
surrounded by her family Sunday, July 25, 2010. She was born in
Cotulla January 21, 1935. Visitation was held Thursday, July 29,
from 2–9 p.m., including the recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m.,
at Hurley Funeral Home in Lytle. Funeral services held at 10 a.m.
Friday, July 30, at Saint Andrews Catholic Church in Lytle.
Jack Patrick Voigt Sr., age 69, of Quihi passed away
Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Visitation was held 9 a.m. -noon, with a
memorial service at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at Guinn-Horger
Funeral Home Chapel. A complete obituary will be published in next

Melvin Earl White of Sabinal, age 80, passed away Monday,
July 26, 2010. He was born February 2, 1930, in Coleman.
Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at First
Baptist Church in Sabinal, followed by the funeral service at 2
p.m. Rev. Monty Benson will officiate. Interment at Sabinal
Cemetery.
C.D. “Bud” Wilson passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010, at
the age of 89. He was born July 17, 1921, in Cokely, WV. A
memorial service was held Saturday, July 31, at 2 p.m. in the
chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danielle
Knapp and the Rev. Larry Lacy officiating.
