Ella Priess Baker, age 83, passed away on Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, in Laredo. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pflugerville followed by burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Joseph Wesley Belcher, age 94, of Castroville, formerly of Port Aransas, passed away at home Nov. 19, 2003. Joe was born Nov. 10, 1909, in Victoria.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Castroville. Graveside service followed at 3 p.m. at the Aransas Memorial Park Cemetery near Rockport.

Ignacia Treviño Briseño of Hondo, passed away Nov. 1, 2003, in Hondo at the age of 80. Rosary was recited Monday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. and the Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Burial was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Richard L. "Dick" Cantwell passed away in Watauga, November 9, 2003. Funeral service Nov. 12 at Bluebonnet Hills Chapel and was officiated by
his lifelong friend Rev. Cabel Roberts. Dick's grandson, Robert Bryan Ioppolo gave the eulogy.

Alyssa Marianna Chavez, age 2 months and 21 days, of Devine passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003. She was born Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003. She is survived by her parents, Phillip and Deborah S. Samudio-Chavez of Devine. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Hurley Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. J.D. Sanders officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Coleman, age 77, of Sabinal died Nov. 23, 2003, at her residence. She was born June 4, 1926, in Winchell. Graveside service was held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Carrizo Springs with Rev. Debby Lake officiating.

Felipe Cortez of Hondo passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at the age of 96. He was born in D'Hanis Sept. 13, 1907. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1. Both services were at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Burial was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Maria I. Cortez of San Antonio passed away Nov. 7, 2003, at the age of 69. She was born in D'Hanis on May 4, 1934. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, and the Funeral Mass was held at 10 am Tuesday, Nov. 11, with both services at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. Interment was in San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Zona Jean Linsley DeBarr passed away October 26, 2003, at her home in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born November 5, 1937.

Arthur Burl DuBose, age 80, of Devine passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, in Devine. He was born in Black Creek on June 6, 1923. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at First
Redemption Church with Rev. Richard Byrd officiating. Interment followed in Tomerlin Cemetery.

Rudy G. Esquibel, age 22, of Devine passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2003. He was born in San Antonio, Dec. 25, 1980. Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church with Father Romeo Olivares officiating. Interment in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Amelia Monreal Fabrow, age 73, of Devine passed away Nov. 27, 2003. She was born Dec. 9, 1929, in Medina County. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Msgr. Adolfo Valivia-Aguirre officiating. Interment
was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Madayah S. Gabrysch, age 69, of Devine passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2003. She was born in Oilton, OK, Nov. 6, 1934. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Bender officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.

Frances Lieck Haby, born March 4, 1915, passed to heaven Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at the age of 88.
Visitation was Saturday morning at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was offered Saturday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville with Fr. Jim Conway as celebrant. The Vigil Service was Sunday, Nov. 16, at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes, with Fr. Pleva officiating and interment following at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery.

Nora Bernice (Ball) Lippert Hanchett of Hondo went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 29, 2003, at the age of 82 in San Antonio. She was born on
April 13, 1921, in Waureka, OK. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m., at the Guinn- Horger Funeral Home. Burial was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, OK.

Patricia Ann Haywood, age 65, of Devine passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, in San Antonio. She was born on July 28, 1938, in Pearsall. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with a family clergy officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

Joan Ann Hoog, age 66, of Castroville passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, in Castroville. Joan was born July 21, 1937, in Hondo. Visitation was at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 30. The Rosary and Funeral Mass were celebrated Monday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church and interment was at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville.

Jack Harry Kaler of Sabinal passed away Nov. 24, 2003, in Hermann Memorial Hospital, Houston at the age of 80. He was born in Corpus Christi, Dec. 24, 1922. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at Central Christian Church in Sabinal. Interment followed in Sabinal Cemetery.

Cornelia Margaret "Connie" Koch passed away Nov. 2, 2003, in D'Hanis at the age of 94. Connie was born on Feb. 8, 1909 in D'Hanis. Rosary was recited Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. and the Funeral Mass was Friday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m., both at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Robert Fernandez Lara Sr. of Uvalde passed away Nov. 24, 2003, in Uvalde Memorial hospital, at the age of 53. He was born in Hondo, July 25, 1950. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Uvalde. Interment was in Batesville Cemetery, Batesville, with Deacon Antonio Hinojosa officiating.

Ernesto Martinez Sr., age 78, of Lytle passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003. He was born in Lytle, Feb. 26, 1925. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church with Father Romeo Olivares officiaitng. Interment was in Lytle
Community Cemetery.

Juanita Elizabeth Hinson Mayhew, age 97, of Lytle passed away Nov. 23, 2003, in San Antonio. She was born Oct. 12, 1906, in Turnersville. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 10 a.m. at the Lytle United Methodist Church in Lytle.

Doris Elizabeth Fox Mellen, age 85, of Gonzales formerly of Castroville, passed away Nov. 13, 2003, in San Antonio. Doris was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Galveston. Funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 17, at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Angels at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.

Joshua Hunter Miles, age 19, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2003. Born on Feb. 10, 1984, Josh graduated from Hondo High School in 2002.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home in San Antonio. Funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home Chapel. Interment follwed at Sunset Memorial Park.

Maurice Henry Nester of San Antonio, age 87, passed away Nov. 2, 2003. He was born Oct. 21, 1916, in D'Hanis. Visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 4. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Chapel in Hondo with the Rev. Joe Walts of San Antonio officiating. Burial was in W.O.W. Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Casey Lee Patterson, age 14, of Devine passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, in San Antonio. She fought a long and hard battle with cancer; she
never gave up the fight until the very end. She was born in Hondo, Feb. 24, 1989, to Clayton and Cynthia Patterson. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Everett Boyce officiating. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, WOW Section, Hondo.

Estella V. Ramirez, age 60, of Devine passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2003. She was born in D'Hanis, Nov. 12, 1942.   Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Msgr. Adolfo Valdivia-Aguirre officiating. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Ernestine "Ernie" Ziegenbalg Robinson, age 76, of Meridian MS, passed away in her home Nov. 16, 2003.     Funeral service was held Nov. 19, 2003, at the Webb Funeral Chapel with interment in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Meridian.

Helen Ethel Richter of Hondo passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at the age of 90. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, on May 11, 1913.    A memorial service was scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church of Hondo at 2 p.m.

Santiago Rizo of Devine passed away Nov. 26, 2003, at the age of 70 in Hondo. He was born in Lytle on May 22, 1933.      Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Hurley Funeral Home chapel with Mgr. Adolfo Valdivia-Aguirre officiating. Interment was in Longview Cemetery.

Paul Savadin, age 61, owner of Paul's Crank Shop, of Devine, passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at his residence.    Rosary was recited Sunday, Nov. 23, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Lytle. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Verna P. Schmidt, age 87, of Devine passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003 in Castroville.   Funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. in St. John United Church of Christ, Pflugerville. Interment followed at St. John Cemetery in Pflugerville.      Family received friends on Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home, Chapel, Devine.

Troy "Boe" Smallwood of Sabinal passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at the age of 70. He was born in Purcell, OK, on August 23, 1933.   Rev. Monty Benson officiated the graveside service, held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at the Sabinal Cemetery.

William David Smith, age 73, of Conroe passed away Nov. 26, 2003. He was born in Johnstown, PA, Dec. 6, 1929. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Metcalf Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Grady Arnold officiating. Interment followed at Garden Park Cemetery.

Bula Josephine Stolle was born April 11, 1906, near the small town of Rosanky in Bastrop County. She died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, in the home of
her daughter-in-law Nancy McCullough near Moore in Frio County. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Satur- day, Nov. 22, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Byrd officiating. Interment followed in Moore Memorial Cemetery.
