Deniece Patton Abbott was born in San Antonio on Oct. 4, 1926 and passed away on May 30, 2007. Deniece donated her body for medical research. A memorial service was held at Trinity Episcopal Church Friday, June 1, 2007.

Naomi Sue (Carpenter) Nelson Blankenship of Hondo, age 82, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007. She was born in Floresville, Feb. 9, 1925. Visitation was Thursday, May 10, at Guinn-Horger Chapel, followed by graveside service and interment at 1:30 p.m. at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Helen Louise Blount, 80, of North Little Rock died May 30, 2007, after a nine month battle with ovarian cancer. A graveside service was held 10a.m., Friday June, 1 2007, at Little Rock National Cemetery.

Charlotte Mae (Nentwich) Stolte Clark of Helotes went to be with our Lord on May 5, 2007. Viewing was held at Sunset Funeral Home in San Antonio on Tuesday, May 8. Funeral services were held on Wednesday May 9, 2007 at Zion Lutheran church of Helotes with the interment at Helotes Cemetery.

Kyle Clary of D’Hanis passed away on May 9, 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 22. He was born on May 7, 1985, in Hondo. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 14, 2007 at 4 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel in Sabinal with burial to following in Sabinal Cemetery. Ray Melton officiated.

Ralph V. Coats, SMSgt(R) USAF, age 90, formerly of Devine, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007, in San Antonio. Graveside Service and Interment was held Thursday, May 10, in Evergreen Cemetery.

Juventina Vela Correa, age 74, of Hondo passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007, in San Antonio. She was born in Hondo, Sept. 1, 1932. Rosary was led by Frances Cordova and Eustalia Mar-tinez, on Tuesday and Funeral Mass was celebrated by Rev. Jeff Pehl at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, both at St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Nancy Lee Settle Dixon Devers was born Jan. 16, 1946. She passed away May 14, 2007 at home in Jourdanton. A Memorial Service was held on May 21, 2007, at Cowboy Fellowship in Pleasanton

Ella Blanche (Meyer) Doyle, age 97, of San Antonio entered rest on Thursday, May 3, 2007. She was born in Concan on April 15, 1910. A Graveside service was held on Monday, May 12 at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Maria Egula, of Hondo, passed away May 29, 2007, at the age of 72. Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 31 at Hondo Funeral Home with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was at 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, at St. John’s Catholic church with interment following in Hondo Cemetery.

Eudelia Lira Gonzales, age 86, of La Coste, passed away May 7, 2007, in San Antonio. Eudelia was born Dec. 10, 1920 in Asherton. A Prayer Service was held Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 7 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville A Graveside Service was held on Wednesday, May 9, at 10:15 a.m. at the Castroville Community Cemetery in Castroville. Interment followed the service at Castroville Community Cemetery in Castroville.

Lt. Col. Marshal Goodwin, Jr., USAF retired, of Lytle, entered eternal rest on May 19, 2007 and was born Apr. 7, 1941, in Holly Grove. His ashes will be disbursed at a later date.

Guy Hardin Jr., US Navy Veteran WW II 1942-1946, of Castroville, departed this life, May 20, 2007 in Castroville. He was born July 18, 1923 in St. Louis, MO. Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 12 noon with a Funeral Service to begin at 12 noon on Thursday, May 24, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hondo. Interment at 2 p.m. in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Roy William Hartman, age 93, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007. He was born Feb. 22, 1914. Visitation will be Thursday, May 10, 4 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service Friday, May 11, 10 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. David Mayer officiating. Interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Mildred Naomi (Welch) Gilbert of Helotes, formerly of Hondo, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2007, at the age of 91. She was born in Tacoma, WA, on Sept. 12, 1915. Visitation was Monday, May 14, and the Funeral Service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, both at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Burial was at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Benjamin Early “Ben” Hodges of Columbia, CA, age 90, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007. He was born in New Mexico on July 21. Visitation was Sunday at Guinn-Horger Chapel, with graveside service Monday, May 14, 11 a.m., at Holy Cross Cemetery, D’Hanis.

Marvin Henry Koch, entered rest on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the age of 89. He was born Sept. 24, 1917 in D’Hanis. Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Roy Akers-Zizik Kearns Funeral Chapels with the Vigil Service and Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with entombment following at Holy Cross Mausoleum.

Emma “Cookie” Ybarra Mueller, entered eternal rest on May 10, 2007, and was born Sept. 13, 1939, in Castroville. The Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 14, 2007 at St. Louis Catholic Church. Entombment followed in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to St. Louis Catholic School.

Rev. Robert Leo Nixon, Sr. age 79, of Devine passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in San Antonio. Funeral Service were held Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Devine. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.

Maxine Lillian Payton, age 82, of Lakehills passed away Monday, May 28, 2007. Graveside service held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Hondo Cemetery, Woodman of the World Section.

Milton James “Fuzzy” Renken, 81, of Hondo passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2007. Services were held on Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hondo, with interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Bonifacia Rodriguez, of Devine, passed away on May 29, 2007 at the age of 86. Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 1, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Devine, with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. on Friday. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with interment following in St. Joseph Cemetery, Devine.

Clarence Julius Saathoff of Hondo/Quihi, born Feb. 16, 1910, peacefully went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 16, 2007. Visitation was Friday, May 18, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service was at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 19, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi, followed by burial at Quihi Cemetery.

Polo Sanchez, age 76, of South Houston, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007. He was born Friday, Aug. 22, 1930 in Orange. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 11, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home in Devine. Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with interment following at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Devine.

Irene Melva Schroeter, age 87, of Devine entered into rest on May 10, 2007. She was born Oct. 31, 1919, in the rural community of Amphion outside of Poteet. Funeral Service was held Tuesday, May 15 at 2 p.m. in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.

Margaret Lillian Hardy Shipp, entered eternal rest on May 17, 2007, and was born May 26, 1925, in Huntsville, AL. Funeral Service was held Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Graveside Services was held on Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Harlingen-Combes Cemetery in Combes.

Manuel Soliz of San Antonio, age 60, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007. He was born in Yancey, March 4, 1947. Rosary was recited on Tuesday and Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, May 16, 2 p.m., both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial was at Yancey Cemetery.

Josefina Soto, age 82 of Natalia, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2007 in Lytle. Mass was celebrated Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at 10 a.m., at St Andrews Catholic Church, Lytle. Interment followed in Lytle Community Cemetery.

Charles Langdon Tilley, a local architect whose work as project manager of the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library, the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, the Austin Convention Center and the Robert E. Johnson Legislative Office Building helped define the Austin skyline, died Saturday, May 26, 2007, at the age of 68. Tilley, was born in San Antonio in 1939. Funeral held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, in Hondo.

Margaret Ann App Tondre, age 65, of Lytle, passed away May 25, 2007, in San Antonio. She was born Sept. 21, 1941, in Castroville. Funeral Service was Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Interment at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.

Hilda Tucker, age 103, born Sept. 1, 1903, in D’Hanis, passed away Friday, May 4, 2007 in Houston. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Houston. The Rite of Committal followed at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, Houston.

Emily Nunez Velasquez, 2 months, of Devine passed away May 2, 2007 in San Antonio. Emily is survived by her mother Lisa Nunez; father Jose Velasquez; twin-brother Erik Nunez; other siblings David Martinez, Victoria Martinez and Jennifer Martinez; and numerous other relatives. Graveside services were held at 1p.m. on Monday, May 7 in St Joseph’s Cemetery.

Wilburn David Wade, age 86, of Devine passed away Thursday, May 31, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5 at the First Baptist Church of Devine, with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

David Brian Walters, age 36, was born Oct. 6, 1970. He passed away May 18, 2007. Funeral Services was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in the Chapel of the funeral home, with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Anna Wojciuk-Prusak born on August 21, 1922, in a small village called Jablon, located in Eastern Poland, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 21, 2007, at her home in Hondo. A memorial funeral service, led by Deacon Richard Edminson, was held at the Guinn-Horger Chapel on Saturday, May, 26, 2007, at 10 a.m. Funeral Mass was held simultaneously in Poland. Her remains will be transported to Warsaw, Poland, and laid to rest in Brodno Cemetery.
