Visitation held Thursday, March 27, from 2 until 9 p.m. in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, Devine, with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 28, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Natalia. Interment in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Devine.

Stephen Douglas Burch, age 38, of Atascosa, passed away, March 5, 2008 in Bexar County. Stephen was born Sept. 8, 1969 in Blytheville, Arkansas. Graveside Service was Monday, March 31, at Castroville Community Cemetery. Interment followed at Castroville Community Cemetery.

Isidra “Maria” Amador Cabrera, age 69, of Yancey passed away Monday, March 31, 2008, at her home. She was born May 15, 1938, in Hondo. Rosary was recited Wednesday, April 2, and Funeral Mass celebrated Thursday, April 3, 10 a.m., both at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D’Hanis, Fr. Wallis J. Stiles officiating. Interment at Yancey Cemetery.

Guadalupe Cuellar, age 76, of Hondo passed away on March 5, 2008. A prayer service was held Friday, March 7, at Hondo Funeral Home. The funeral service was held on Saturday, March 8, at Hondo Funeral Home. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

George Roger Dumas, age 73, of Hondo, passed away, March 28, 2008 in Hondo. Roger was born January 8, 1935 in Springfield, MA. A Memorial Service was held Monday, March 31, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. A Memorial Funeral Mass held at a later date at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellevue, NE.

Gary W. Dupont, age 58, passed way Tuesday, March 25, 2008. He was born March 27, 1949, in Corpus Christi. Funeral service at Funeral Caring USA, 2200 NW Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78230 on Friday, March 28, at 10 a.m.

Viola O. (Noak) Busch Franke, age 98, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, March. 11, 2008. Viola was born Jan. 18, 1910 in Round Top, Texas. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hondo with Pastor Dave Mayer officiating. Graveside service was held at Florida Chapel Cemetery outside Round Top at 1 p.m. Friday, Mar. 14, with Pastor David Nedbalek officiating.

Venancio “Benny” Garcia, born April 1, 1916, in Moore passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008, three days shy of his 92nd birthday. Graveside service was conducted Wednesday, April 2, at Moore Catholic Cemetery, Moore.

Amalia Gonzales, age 62, of San Antonio and formerly of Devine, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008. Rosary recited at 9 a.m., with the Memorial Mass at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 13, at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Devine.

Fred Duran Gonzales, age 49, of San Antonio passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008. He was born Sept. 2, 1958, in Toledo, OH. Visitation was Tuesday, March 25, at Guinn-Horger Chapel with Rosary recited. Graveside service was held Wednesday, March 26 at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section, with Fr. Ken Dakin officiating.

Dottie Haegelin was born in Groveton, TX, August 14, 1917, and died in Winchester, VA., March 24, 2008. Graveside memorial service held at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section, June 7, at 11:00 a.m.

MaryAnn (Riff) Hermes, born in Dunlay February 12, 1927 died March 13, 2008, in Hondo at the age of 81. Rosary was led by James and Aurline Tschirhart on Monday, March 17, followed by Mass at 10 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Ken Dakin officiating. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, St. John’s Section.

Joseph Albert Hutzler went to be with the Lord Friday, March 21, 2008, at the age of 78. He was born November 2, 1929 on a farm about three miles west of Devine. Funeral service was held Wednesday, March 26, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, Devine, with Dr. T. Glenn Young officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.

Bernardine Marie Hoelscher Kelly, age 74, of Castroville passed away March 17, 2008, in Castroville. Bernardine was born January 25, 1934, in Violet. Mass of Resurrection was Wednesday, March 19, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Castroville. Rosary was recited Thursday, March 20, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment followed the Rosary at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville.

Bernard A. (Johnny) Kent, age 86, of Devine entered eternal rest on March 16, 2008, at his residence in Devine. Mr. Kent was born on July 3, 1921, in Boyd. Graveside service and interment were held Wednesday, Mar. 19, in Evergreen Cemetery.

Jim Koehler, age 68, of Devine passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008 in San Antonio. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, in the Redemption Baptist Church, Devine. Interment at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Ronald Reed Lazrine, age 47, of Dayton, and formerly of Devine, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at his residence. Graveside services were held Friday, March 21, at Evergreen Cemetery, Devine, with interment immediately following.

Elmer Joseph “Joe” Leinweber Jr. of Hondo passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008. He was born April 6, 1922, in Hondo. Funeral service was Tuesday, March 25, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Andy Tyson officiating. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Sannie Marie Duncan Lopez, age 73, of Moore passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008, at her residence. Rosary was recited Wednesday, March 26 at Hurley Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated Thursday, March 27, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Devine, with interment following in Moore Catholic Cemetery, Moore.

Jimmie Ruth Allen Martin, age 75, of Hondo passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008, in San Antonio. She was born June 14, 1932, at Zig Zag. Visitation was Friday at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service was Saturday, March 22, at First United Methodist Church, Hondo, with Rev. Andy Tyson officiating. Interment was at Yancey Cemetery.

Eduardo Jose “Joe” Montoya Sr., age 82, of Castroville, passed away March 8, 2008, in San Antonio. Joe was born December 27, 1925, in Laredo. Rosary was recited Monday, March 10, at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was Tuesday, March 11, at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment followed the Mass at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Berle Gene Morris, age 73, of Devine passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008 in San Antonio. Graveside service was held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Evergreen Cemetery.

Manuel A. Ontiveros, 83, formerly of Kerrville, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008. He was born on February 14, 1925, in Yancey. A service was held at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, preceded by a rosary on Monday, March 17, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

George Frank Persyn, age 94, of Castroville, passed away March 4, 2008, in San Antonio. George was born December 16, 1913, in San Antonio. Visitation on Friday, March 7, from noon to 5:30 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Rosary recited Friday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, Castroville. Funeral Mass Saturday, March 8, at 9 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Entombment at St. Louis Catholic Garden Mausoleum.

Fidel Ramirez, age 83 of Hondo, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008. He was born September 15, 1924, in Hondo. Rosary was led by Epifania Ybarra on Wednesday, March 5, and the Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, Mar. 6, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Fr. Ken Dakin officiated. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

John David Schweers passed away March 28, 2008, in a local hospital, at the age of 58. Visitation was held Tuesday. Funeral was conducted Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Virginia Beach, VA. Burial followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Lena Meckel Scoggin, age 93, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008, in Lytle. Graveside service and interment were held Saturday, March 8, in Lytle Community Cemetery.

Billie Jean Shepherd, age 78, of Moore passed away Monday, March 10, 2008, in Hondo. Graveside service and interment held Friday, March 14, in Moore Memorial Cemetery, Moore.

Dwain S. “Dink” Turner, 76, died on March 8, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, surrounded by his family. He was born in Wellsview, Concho County, on October 7, 1931. A funeral service was held at the Getty Street Church of Christ in Uvalde Tuesday, March 11, with Mr. King Burney officiating. Interment followed Wednesday, March 12, at Resthaven Cemetery in Brady.

Emilio C. Valles Sr., age 70, passed away on March 3, 2008. Rosary was recited on Tuesday, Mar. 4, and on Wednesday Mar. 5, at Hondo Funeral Home. An 11 a.m. Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday Mar. 5, at St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment Followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Maria Ibarra Varela, age 101, of D’Hanis passed away on March 8, 2008. Rosary was recited on Tuesday, March 11. Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, March 12, at St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Antonio C. Velazquez, age 82, of Devine passed away March 11, 2008, in San Antonio. Funeral Mass was held Saturday, March 15, at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Devine. Interment followed at St Joseph’s Cemetery, Devine.

Homer George Verstuyft, Jr, age 71, of San Antonio, TX, passed away March 23, 2008 at his home. Homer was born December 21, 1936 in San Antonio. Visitation and Rosary were Tuesday, March 25, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Castroville. Mass of Resurrection was Wednesday, March 26, at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment followed the Mass at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Maria S. Villa, of Hondo passed away on March 25, 2008, at the age of 63. Visitation held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, at Hondo Funeral Home. An 11 a.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, March 28, at St John’s Catholic Church. Interment in Hondo Cemetery.

Ralph Edwin Wilhelms, age 77, of Castroville passed away March 17, 2008, in Castroville. Ralph was born October 19, 1930, in Mitchell, SD. Memorial service held Thursday, March 20, at 10 a.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville.

Ruby Christene Riggs Williams, age 96, of Hondo passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008. She was born Jan. 21, 1912, in Tahlequah, OK. Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 1, at First Baptist Church, Hondo, with Chaplin Ed Gates and Rev. Dennis Zerr officiating. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Lorine Josephine Turner Zerr passed away on Friday, March 7, 2008, at the age of 88. She was born May 30, 1919, in Sabinal. A Rosary was offered at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D’Han-is, on Monday, March 10, followed by the Funeral Mass. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, D’Hanis.
