Frances Lucille Briggs, age 101, of Devine passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007, in San Antonio. Funeral service was conducted Tuesday, July 31, in the Chapel of Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion, IL. Interment followed at Union Enterprise Cemetery, Edwards Co., IL.

Alvin R. Darnell, age 88, of Devine passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007, in Lytle. Funeral Service was conducted Saturday, July 28, at Hurley Funeral Home. Graveside Service and interment were conducted at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Monday, July 30.

Pablo DeLeon, age 86, of Yancey passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007. He was born in Yancey Jan. 15, 1921. Rosary was recited Thursday, July 26, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass was held Friday, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Yancey, with Fr. Wallis J. Stiles officiating.

Hazel Dean Holden Dixon, age 67, of Dunlay, passed away July 10, 2007, at home. Hazel was born December 27, 1939, in Brimingham, AL. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home open for visitation Thursday, July 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service Friday, July 13, at 9:30 a.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Interment at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Jack Joseph Droitcourt, age 93, a resident of Fort Worth for more than 50 years, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, in Long-mont, CO. Jack was born November 12, 1913, in Hondo. Mass of Christian Burial was held at Tuesday, July 31, at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Interment followed at Greenwood Memorial Park.

Dora W. Duncan, age 89, of Devine, passed away at her residence Friday, July 6, 2007. Rosary was recited Sunday, July 8, in the Chapel of Hurley Funeral Home, Devine. Mass was celebrated Monday, July 9, at St Josephs Catholic Church, Devine. Interment followed in Moore Catholic Cemetery.

Walter Eichholtz of Hondo, age 83, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2007. Walter was born Nov. 25, 1923, in San Antonio. Funeral service was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, 10 a.m., with Rev. David Mayer officiating. Burial was at Hondo Cemetery, Oak-wood Section.

Roy Lee Essary, age 52, of Devine passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007. Funeral service was held Monday, July 16, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home in Devine. Interment followed at Moore Memorial Cemetery in Moore.

Prisciliano Gaitan Sr., age 90, of Hondo passed away Friday, July 6, 2007. He was born Jan. 4, 1917 in Piedras Negras, Mexico. A prayer service was held Tuesday, July 10, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service was held Wednesday, July 11, at Iglesia Christiana in Hondo.

Bernardino R. Garcia, of Hondo, passed away on July 31, 2007 at the age of 77. Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Devine. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 3, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment was at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6 in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Fred S. Garrison, age 69, of Mico, passed away July 7, 2007, in San Antonio. Fred was born July 15, 1937, in San Antonio. Funeral Service was held Tuesday, July 10, at Medina Valley United Methodist Church in Castroville. Interment followed at Castroville Community Cemetery in Castroville.

Roger Charles Gonnet, age 82, passed away at his home at Hondo, the evening of Saturday, July 27, 2007. He was born in France March 5, 1925. Funeral service was held at Guinn-Horger Chapel on Wednesday, Aug. 1, with Pastor David Mayer of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Charles Eugene Haywood, age 68, of Devine passed away Friday, July 13, 2007, at his residence. Graveside Service with interment was held at Evergreen Cemetery, Devine.

Neal Horton Jr., age 79 of Devine, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2007, at his residence. Graveside service and interment were held Friday, July 27, at Edgewood Cemetery, Crystal City.

Ola Mae White Hutson of Hondo, age 75, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2007. She was born January 23, 1932, in Willow City. Graveside service was held Thursday, July 19, at Eckert Cemetery at Willow City, near Fredericksburg, followed by interment.

Miriam Krause, age 98, passed away July 16, 2007. No services are planned at this time.

Steve Muniz, of Devine, passed away on July 20, 2007, at the age of 36. Rosary recited at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Devine. Funeral Mass was at held Wednesday, July 25. Hondo Funeral Home, Hondo.

Marilyn Frances Daughtrey Nowakowski, age 81, of San Benito went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 12, 2007.

Rogelio A. “RogeRabbit” Palacios, age 18, of Kerrville passed from this life on Saturday, July 28, 2007, from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Rogelio was born in Houston on August 25, 1988, the son of Rogelio A. Palacios Jr. and Rosa Es-cobar. A graveside service was held at Hondo Cemetery, Hondo, on Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Adelina “Nina” Del Toro Pargas, age 70, of D’Hanis, a woman of great faith, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 9, 2007. She was born in D’Hanis on October 13, 1936. Rosary recited Thursday, July 12, 7 p.m., and the Funeral Mass Friday, July 13, at 10 a.m., both at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D’Hanis. Interment at San Francisco Cemetery, D’Hanis.

Fidel Lopez Rivera Jr. of Hondo passed away on July 1, 2007, at the age of 62. Rosary was recited Saturday, July 7, at St. John’s Catholic Church
followed by the Funeral Mass.

Dawn E. Schuh, age 65, of Devine passed away Friday, July 13, 2007, in San Antonio. Memorial service held Friday, August 24, 2007, in Houston. She was born May 19, 1926, in San Benito. Graveside service was held at Mont Meta Cemetery in San Benito on Saturday, July 14, and a celebration service was held at New Fountain UMC on July 17.

Baby Julias Angel Vallejo of Natalia, passed away on the day of his birth, July 1, 2007. He was the son of Julian Vallejo and Johnelle Peralta. The Rosary was recited followed by the funeral service, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devine on Thursday, July 5. Interment was on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at Perez Cemetery, Natalia.

Frank N. Wallace Jr., age 74, of Devine, passed away at his residence Sunday, July 15, 2007. Memorial services were held Monday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m., at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

James Henry Wells Jr., age 75, of Northcliffe, near Cibolo, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007, at his home. He always said he was “born at the head of Montell Creek” on the family ranch in Uvalde County. Funeral service held Thursday, July 12, 12 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel in Hondo. Interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Hulda (Tootie) Wheeler, of Hondo, passed away on July 29, 2007 at the age of 85. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, at Hondo Funeral Home. Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 1, at New Fountain Methodist Church. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Evelyn Louise (Hoffman) Wilson, 78, of Yancey passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born Feb. 20, 1929, in Lytle. Funeral service was held at Yancey Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 31, with Rev. Vance Elliott officiating. Casket bearers were Shane Wilson, Justin Wilson, David Boss, Nick Wilson, Nathan Wilson and Kyle Heyen. Honorary bearers were Brian Stovall, Kevin Crowsey and Brian Mullins. Interment was at Yancey Cemetery.
