Elizabeth Anne 'Liz' Perry Albrecht

Elizabeth Anne 'Liz' Perry Albrecht was born December 14, 1935, in Lampasas. She went to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 16, 2002, at the age of 66, following heart failure. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home, with Pastor Reid Schaub officiating. Interment followed at Forest Oaks Cemetery.

Sam Walton Amberson

Sam Walton Amberson, age 65, of Hondo passed away February 5, 2002. He was born in Hondo, September 19, 1936. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2002, at First United Methodist Church of Hondo with Rev. Burt Clayton and Rev. Bill Nogues officiating. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Jesse L. Bielefeld Sr.

Jesse L. Bielefeld Sr., age 83, of Somerset passed away Saturday, February 16, 2002, in San Antonio. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 18, at the First Baptist Church of Somerset. Interment followed in Bexar Cemetery.

Raymundo Canizales

Raymundo Canizales, age 71, of Castroville passed away February 7, 2002, in Castroville. He was born April 20, 1930 in Palau, Coahuila, Mexico. Funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr. Jim Conway at St. Louis Catholic Church on Friday, February 8, at 7 p.m. Rosary was led by Fr. Jim, Saturday, February 9, at 9 a.m. at the chapel of Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Interment followed the Rosary at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.

Betty Compton

Betty Compton, age 93, of Castroville passed away February 18, 2002. Visitation was held on Friday February 22, 2002 from 3 to 7 p.m. Graveside service was held Saturday, February 23, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis.

Bonifacio DeLaRosa

Bonifacio DeLaRosa, age 76, of Devine passed away February 24, 2002, in San Antonio. He was born in Devine, May 14, 1925. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, with Fr. Romeo Olivares officiating, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment followed in
St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Jackie Irene Dubose

Jackie Irene Dubose, age 60, of Devine passed away, Thursday, February 7, 2002 in Kerrville. She was born in Paulding, MS, January 18, 1942. Funeral service was at 1 p.m. Monday, February 11, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Cook officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery, Devine.

Tabitha Escamilla

Tabitha Escamilla joined the angels in heaven Sunday February 3, 2002. She was six weeks old. Tabitha was born December 18, 2001 in San Antonio to Frank and Nora (Carrillo) Escamilla. Mass of the Angels was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday February 5, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating. Burial followed at Hondo Cemetery.

Pedro E. Garza Sr.

Pedro E. Garza Sr., age 74, of D'Hanis passed away at home on Saturday, February 2, 2002. He was born April 8, 1927, in Hondo. Prayer service was at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, at Dawson Funeral Chapel. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, at Dawson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Pedro Garza Jr. officiating. Interment followed at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Jeanne Brown Irwin

Jeanne Brown Irwin, long-time resident of Port Aransas, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away February 6, 2002. She was born December 28, 1926, in Philadelphia, PA. A graveside service was at 10:15 a.m., Monday, February 11, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Katherine Patricia 'Pat' (Dowd)(Mangold) Johnson

Katherine Patricia 'Pat' (Dowd)(Mangold) Johnson, age 61, of Castroville passed away February 3, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 4, 1941, on the family farm in Live Oak County. Rosary was led by Father Jim Conway, at 7 p.m. Tuesday February 5. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10. a.m. Wednesday, February 6, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Castroville. Interment followed in St. Louis Cemetery, Castroville.

Mary Marcella Kier

Mary Marcella Kier, age 79, of Hondo, formerly of Dayton, OH, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2002. She was born in Dayton, OH, December 10, 1922. Marcella and husband were charter members of the Alamo Corral SKP Cooperative in Hondo. Memorial Service was held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D'Hanis, 10 a.m. Monday, February 4, with Father Wallis Stiles officiating. Interment of ashes followed at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, OH, at a later date.

Alice Justine Kleppe

Alice Justine Kleppe of Spicewood, formerly of Manitowoc, WI, was born in Hondo on February 16, 1923. She was the great-great-grandchild of many original settlers of the Hondo area. Alice passed away Saturday, February 16, 2002, in D'Hanis. On Tuesday, February 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. visitation was held at the Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, Austin. She was then flown to Manitowoc where a Mass was held at Sacred heart Catholic Church. Entombement was in Knollwood Memorial Park next to her lat husband, Victor.

Guy H. Land, 84, of Duncanville passed away February 12, 2002. He was born September 30, 1917. Funeral was held Thursday, February 14, 10 a.m., at David Clayton and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 200 W. Center St., Duncanville. Interment followed at Little bethel Memorial Park.

Milton Alfred Leinweber, age 88, of Hondo passed away, February 14, 2002, in Hondo. He was born in Hondo, November 2, 1913. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday, February 18, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Mayer officiating. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Woodmen of the World.

John Louis Lessing

John Louis Lessing, age 83, of San Antonio passed away Feb. 26, 2002. He was born June 20, 1918, in Macdona. Rosary was recited Friday, Mar. 1, at 7 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Macdona. The Funeral Mass was celebrated by Rev. Rudy Corrola Jr., Saturday, at 12:15 p.m., at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Macdona. Interment was at the church cemetery.

Maria Santos Luna

Maria Santos Luna, age 78, of Floydada passed away Feb. 23, 2002, at her residence. She was born on Sept. 15, 1923, in Hondo. Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with Father Phillip deFreitas officiating. Interment followed in Floydada Cemetery.

Kenneth Charles Magoon

Kenneth Charles Magoon, age 34, passed away February 13, 2002, at his home in Medina County. He was January 26, 1968, in Warner Robins, GA. Visitation was Monday February 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Chapel and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at Lakehills United Methodist Church, followed by the funeral service led by the Rev. Ellen Ely. Interment was at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio with military honors.

Dorothy King Manger, age 82, of Devine passed away Saturday, February 16, 2002, in Pearsall. She was born April 23, 1919 in Del Rio. Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Janice Petty officiating.

Cleo Faye Homesley Martin, age 92, of Yancey passed away February 2, 2002. She was born June 16, 1909 on Squirrel Creek in Medina County. Funeral service was at 3 p.m. Monday, February 4, at Yancey United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Nogues and Rev. Dave Crabtree officiating. Interment followed in the Yancey cemetery.

Clarence William Olson, age 74, of Natalia passed away Friday, February 1, 2002, at his residence. Funeral service was held Wednesday, February 6, at 10 a.m. in Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Devine.

Laura Lena Santleben Reicherzer, age 93, of La Coste passed away Feb. 22, 2002, in Castroville. She was born May 12, 1908, in Medina County. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Anne Kohmeier on Sunday,
Feb. 24, 2:30 p.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church, Castroville, followed by interment in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Jo Ann Ross

Jo Ann Ross, age 63, of Jourdanton died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at the Frio Regional Hospital, Pearsall. She was born Sept. 13, 1938. Graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Longview Cemetery, Bigfoot.

Capt. Jess Baker Sadler

Capt. Jess Baker Sadler, USAF retired, of Castroville passed away February 7, 2002, at his home at the age of 67. He was born September 23, 1934, in High Point, NC. Graveside service was held Thursday, February 14, at 1 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio with Rev. Jane Florence officiating, and with full military honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

Lorine Bippert Schott

Lorine Bippert Schott, age 97, of Mico passed away February 19, 2002. She was born June 18, 1904, in Rio Medina. Mass of Resurrection was celebrated by Rev. Jim Conway Thursday at 7 p.m. Feb. 21, 2002. Rosary was led by Rev. Jim Conway Friday at 10 a.m. Both services were at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment was in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Allen C. Stein, age 82, of Rio Medina passed away February 15, 2002, in San Antonio. He was born November 10, 1919, in Rio Medina. Funeral Mass was celebrated by Rev. Jim Conway, Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Rosary was led by Rev. Jim Conway at 10 a.m. Monday. Both services were at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment followed the Rosary in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Janice Helen Syring, age 62, of Driftwood, passed away on February 3, 2002. She was born in Hondo, April 20, 1939. Rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Dripping Springs. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, at St. Martin de Porres. Interment followed at Assumption Cemetery, Austin.

Ruby Berniece Terry, age 94, of Keene passed away Feb. 22, 2002, in Hondo. She was born in Mineral Wells, July 16, 1907. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Keene Community Cemetery Chapel.

Gladys Baker Williams went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 18, 2002. She was born on Oct. 16, 1925, in Devine. Graveside service was at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Colonial Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

Bernadette 'Pat' Wurzbach
