New Fountain Open House Tour

Sat., Oct. 25, 10-2. Tour includes Beth and Garry Allen’s renovated 1906 New Fountain Schoolhouse at 141 CR 454, the historical Weimer’s Oak and the restored Faseler Alsatian Rock house owned by Sammy and Wilma Kindred. All houses are in a 1 block area. A $5 Donation to the Hondo Animal Shelter is requested. (See ad.)

Watch D.O.G.S.

Meyer Elementary is starting a new volunteer program, Watch D.O.G.S.-Dads of Great Students. The goal is to get more male role models involved in education. All dads, step-dads, grandfathers, uncles, and brothers are invited to come find out more about this volunteer program at a kick-off event Monday, Oct. 27, 6-8 p.m. at the school cafeteria. Huajilla Unit of TRTA

The Huajilla Unit of the Texas Retired Teachers Association will meet on Monday, Oct 27, 10 a.m. at Hondo’s First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Andrew Murr, Candidate for District 53 State Representative, will be the guest speaker. A business meeting will follow and lunch will be catered by Seco Secret. Red Hat Society

Veterans Celebration

The Tex Hill Wing of the Commemorate Air Force is hosting an event to honor all who served Saturday, Nov. 8 at South Texas Regional Airport in Hondo. Gates open at 9 a.m. Admission is free. Cockpit tours and free flights for kids age 8-17 will be offered.
