First Mexican Baptist Church

The FMBC would like to invite everyone to join them with the hundreds of millions of other Christians for “The Global Day of Prayer” from May 1- May 11 for all nations. Fri., May 9, will be set aside for all day prayer. Church doors will be kept open between 8 a.m. & 4 p.m. for all who wish to attend.

Hondo Garden Club

The HGC thrift shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Thurs. from May 1 to Oct. 31, and the first Sat. of the month, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ciro Rodriguez mobile office

Rep. Rodriguez’s mobile office will be in Hondo on May 20 from noon- to 4 p.m. at the Hondo Public Library to assist Medicare/Medicaid recipients as well as veterans and people seeking small loans or grants.

Hondo ISD Kinder Registration

Kinder registration will be held at Meyer Elementary Tues., May 6, to Fri., May 9, from 8:30 -11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Children must be five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2008, and the following is required: original birth certificate, immunization record, child’s social security card, photo I.D. of parent and proof of residency. D’Hanis ISD Kinder Registration

Kinder registration will be held at Ben Koch Elementary Tues., May 6, thru Fri., May 9, 8:30 -11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. On Wed., May 7, hours are from 8:30-11 a.m. and 1-6 p.m. Children must be five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2008, and the following is required: original birth certificate, immunization record, child’s social security card, photo I.D. of parent and proof of residency. Hall’s travels to Japan presentation

Sandra Hall will present a free program on her travels to Japan at the Hondo Public Library on May 10 from 10 to 11 a.m. Highlights include tours of quiltmaking and the manufacture of mobile homes. Everyone is invited. For more information call 426-5333.

Bluebonnet Children’s Center Gala

Sat., May 10, the BCC will hold a gala to raise money for a new center for abused children. There will be a social hour with open bar, steak dinner, dance, silent auction and prizes. Tickets are $100 per couple and are tax deductible. Call 830-426-5554 or 830-8848 for tickets and information.

New Fountain UMC

Please join the the congregation for Communion on Friendship/Pentecost Sunday and Mother’s Day at NFUMC May 11, beginning with Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. followed by the Combined Service of Worship at 10:45 a.m. in the Fountain Life Center.

Hondo school choirs

The McDowell school and Hondo High School will present a combined spring concert Mon., May 12, at 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. They will perform a wide variety of styles of music, from classical to flapper to rock.

St. John’s Historical Society

There will be a general meeting on Wed., May 14, at 7 p.m. in the parish hall. Discussion and voting on several topics will be held.The program will again be related to “Treasures Lost, Treasures Saved.” Guests welcome.

BBQ fundraiser

To help defer cost for Michelle Dose to attend the National Student Leadership Conference in Engineering at U of MD., there will be a BBQ on May 18 at City Park #2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. $6 per plate, drive-thru only. To purchase tickets call Michelle or Laura Dose at 741-8095. [see ad]

Single Impact Ministries

Hondo First Baptist Church’s Single Impact Ministries is offering a seminar: “Divorce Care/ One Day at A Time”. Open to all single adults in the community, it offers support and guidance for those who are separated, currently experiencing divorce or already are divorced.
