Maria Rodriguez Barron, age 85, of Hondo passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008. She was born November 2, 1922, in Ocampo, Coahuila, Mexico. A family prayer service was held Sunday, April 20, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Burial at Panteon San Jose Cemetery in Cuatro Cienegas, Coahuila, Mexico.

Alejos Buentello, age 89, of Devine passed away Monday, April 7, 2008, in San Antonio. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 9 at Hurley Funeral Home. Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Apr. 10, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Devine, with interment in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Larry Lane Bybee, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at his Canyon Lake home. A memorial service was held Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church of Hondo.

William Hilton Collie, slipped the bonds of this life and went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2008, at the age of 69. He was born July 9, 1938, in Rocky Mount, NC. Visitation held Thursday, May 1, from 10 a.m.-noon, at Funeral Caring USA, 6902 NE Loop 410, San Antonio. Graveside service followed by interment with honors at 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston.

Marshall Daniel Cooper, 55, of Mico, passed away on April 22, 2008. He was born December 9, 1952 in Farmington, NM. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home open for gathering on Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m. Memorial service Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville.

Mary Gail Crain..... age 87 of Yancey, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008 in Hondo. Funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, in the Yancey Methodist Church with interment following in Yancey Cemetery.

Florence Tudyk Ehlinger, born August 27, 1927, has gone forth to the Lord on April 18, 2008. Rosary was recited Tuesday, April 22, in the chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, Devine. Mass was celebrated Wednesday, April 23, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Sylvia Escamilla, age 48, of Hondo passed away Friday, Apr. 4, 2008, in San Antonio. She was born May 11, 1959. Rosary was recited Monday, Apr. 7, and Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Fr. Ken Dakin officiating. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

June E. Wiemers Fuos of Hondo passed away April 3, 2008, at the age of 85. She was born at home in Elstone community of Medina County on Oct. 10, 1922. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Charles Parker at 3 p.m. Monday, Apr. 7, at New Fountain United Methodist Church with burial at the Hondo Cemetery.

Lorraine Agnes Keavney Ghidoni, age 78, of Castroville passed away on April 7, 2008, in San Antonio. She was born December 12, 1929, in New York, NY. Visitation on Friday, Apr. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Mass held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Apr. 12, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville.

James Winfred Hester passed away on Saturday, Apr. 26, 2008, at the age of 89. He was born in High Point, NC. A memorial service held Saturday, May 3rd, at 11:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church of Hondo.

Ann Hopperstead, age 75, a resident of Irving since 1967, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Baylor Medical Center in Irving, surrounded by her family and friends. Born November 26, 1932 in Hondo. Rosary was recited Wednesday, April 30, at Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church, Irving. Rev. Monsignor Jerome Duesman celebrant. Burial at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas.

Jesusa “Susie” Vara Martinez, age 92, of Castroville, passed away April 6, 2008 in Castroville. She was born Jan. 9, 1916 in Castroville. Rosary was Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, Castroville. Mass of Resurrection was Wednesday, April 9, at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment followed the Mass at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Misty Gail Moreno was born on September 12, 1982, and graciously entered the gates of Heaven on April 27, 2008, at the age of 25. She resided in La-Coste. A prayer service was held on Wednesday, April 30, at Hondo Funeral Home. Funeral service Thursday May 1, 11 a.m., at Quihi Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with Pastor Stephen Schur officiating. Interment at Hondo Cemetery.

Joycelyn Abby Mumme Newman of Hondo, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the age of 88. Joycelyn was born Nov. 30, 1919, in Vandenberg, Texas. Funeral service was Monday, April 7, 11 a.m. , at the Guinn-Horger Chapel, led by Rev. Charles Woodward. Burial was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Mary Annice Nougaret , age 75, of Devine passed away Monday, April 7, 2008, in San Antonio. Memorial service held at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 12, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Devine.

Alice Fay Ohlhausen, age 45 of Lytle, passed away Monday, April 14, 2008, at her residence. A memorial service was held at the Grace Bible Church in Lytle on Saturday, April 19, 2008.

Jose G. Ontiveros, of Hondo, passed away on April 20, 2008, at the age of 77. Rosary was recited on Wednesday April 23, at Hondo Funeral Home. A 10 a.m. Funeral Mass held on Thursday April 24, at St John’s Catholic Church. Interment in Hondo Cemetery.

Jose Leandro “Pino” Palacios, Sr., age 58, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, in San Antonio. He went to be with the Lord after a four-year battle with prostate cancer. He was born March 12, 1950, in Hondo. Rosary and Funeral Mass services were held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Fr. Ken Dakin officiated the Mass.

Yolanda Marie Perez.... age 26, of Austin and formerly of Devine passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008 at her residence. Rosary was recited on Wednesday, April 16 at Hurley funeral Home in Devine. Services concluded at the funeral home.

Bettye Jean Perkins, age 64, of Lytle passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008. A memorial service was held at her parents’ residence in San Marcos Saturday, April 19, 2008.

James Albert Pichot, age 82, passed away Monday, April 28, 2008, after a short illness. He was born in Uvalde on September 21, 1925. Visitation Thursday, May 1, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service conducted at noon Friday, May 2, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with Rev. Robert W. Huie officiating. Interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors.

Harry Rankin, age 85, of San Antonio, (former resident of Medina County), passed away April 20, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Edgewater Care Center in Kerrville. He was born January 14, 1923, in Fayette County, PA. Family and friends received at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, on Thursday, April 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 7 p.m. His remains transferred later to Sharon, PA.

Michael William Rupp, age 65, of Moore passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Pearsall. Graveside service was held Tuesday, April 22, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Larry Sills, age 65, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008. He was born Aug. 9, 1942, in Woodland, CA. Funeral service was held Monday, Apr. 14, 10 a.m., at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Interment was at 2:15 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Robert David Thompson, loving husband to Barbara, of Hondo, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at age 67. He was born in Little Rock, AR, on May 31, 1940. Visitation Thursday, Apr. 24, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass Friday, Apr. 25, 3 p.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Fr. Wallis J. Stiles officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, D’Hanis.

John Pershing Tondre, Sr., age 89, of D’Hanis passed away Monday, April 7, 2008. He was born Nov. 22, 1918, in D’Hanis. Rosary was recited Wednesday, April 9, at 10 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Fr. Wallis J. Stiles officiated. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery, D’Hanis.

Forest Glenn ‘Bud’ Ward, Jr., of Sabinal passed away Friday, April 18, 2008, at his residence at the age of 76. He was born February 2, 1932, in Kansas City, MO. A memorial service held at a later date. Interment of cremains at Sabinal Cemetery.

Elvira Schweers Wiederanders, 90, died April 19, 2008, in California of Al-zheimer’s. Services will be held May 5 in California.
