Elida "Lela" Almaguer Aguilera, age 71, of Castroville passed away April 13, 2004, in Castroville. Elida was born Sept. 18, 1932, in Robstown. Visitation Thursday, Apr. 15, from 12 noon to 5:30 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Rosary recited Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church and the Funeral Mass 10 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 16, at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. Louis Cemetery.

Joe Bryan Baines was born on Dec. 9, 1935, in Dallas and passed away peacefully on April 12, 2004. A lifelong resident of East Dallas, Joe was a loving husband, father and friend. Memorial service was held Thursday, Apr. 15, at 1 p.m. at the Sparkman-Crane chapel in Dallas. Graveside service was held Saturday, April. 17, at 2 p.m. at the Yancey Cemetery, Yancey.

Le Saundra Ann Benavides entered into rest on April 24, 2004, at the age of 15. She is survived by her parents, John and Leticia Benavides; brothers,
Noah and Nicholaus Benavides; sisters, Adriana and Jazmin Benavides. Vistation was held on Monday, April 26, from 2-9 p.m., with a prayer service held at 7 p.m. at Hondo Funeral Home. Funeral service was held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, at Hondo Funeral Home. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Pearl "Pearlie" Tschirhart Biediger, age 90, of Castroville passed away Apr. 17, 2004, at home. Pearlie was born Dec. 4, 1913, in Castroville. Rosary was recited Sunday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church and Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, April 19. Interment was at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Frances L. Centilli, age 84, of Devine passed away April 2, 2004, in San Antonio. She was born in Darien, CT, May 28, 1919. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Hurley Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Ben Wright officiating. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Kathryn Elizabeth Graff Chapman, age 85, of Hondo passed away April 15, 2004, in Hondo. Kathryn was born on July 29, 1918, in rural Hondo. The Rosary was recited at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Monday, April 19, the Funeral Mass followed the Rosary. Burial was in the Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section.

Felix Cuellar Jr., age 97, of Hondo passed away Apr. 1, 2004, in Hondo. Felix was born August 26, 1906, in Comfort. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Monday, Apr. 5, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial was in Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Lydia San Pedro Diefenbach, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, age 81, of San Antonio passed away April 10, 2004, in Castroville. Lydia was born Mar. 27, 1923, in the Philippines. Graveside service and interment were Wednesday, April 14, at 9:45 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Sgt. William Cody Eckhart, age 25, a lifetime resident of Rocksprings, died Saturday, April 10, 2004, as a result of injuries sustained while performing a reconnaissance scouting mission near Khalis, Iraq, as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
William Cody Eckhart was born Sept. 21, 1978, in Hondo to Ronnie and Terri (White) Eckhart. A service was held at the Rocksprings High School Auditorium, Saturday, Apr. 17, officiated by Pastor Nancy Littlefield. A service was also held at the First United Methodist Church in Hondo on Sunday, Apr. 18, officiated by Pastor Beverly Slusher and Pastor Nancy Littlefield. Burial with full military honors followed at Hondo Cemetery. Cody was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star, which was presented to his grandfather Bill White by General Jack Gardner, and the Purple Heart which was presented to his parents by General Gardner

Helen Virginia Flores of San Antonio, age 85, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2004. She was born in Elkhart and grew up in Palestine. Service was held Tuesday, April 6, 2004.

Mary Ann Griep, 84, formerly of Mineola, passed away Friday, April 23, 2004, in Devine. She was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Sherman. Funeral service was Monday, Apr. 26, 2004, 10 a.m., at Northside Baptist
Church and interment was at Roselawn Cemetery, both in Mineola. Rev. James Wheat officiated.

Nelda Estelle Wiemers Hastings, born June 22, 1922, in San Antonio, entered into eternal rest Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004, at the age of 81 at home in San Antonio. Funeral service was held Thursday, April 15, 1:15 p.m. at Porter Loring Chapel, the Rev. Bradley L. De Haven and the Rev. Fred Martin officiating. Interment was in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery under the auspices of
OES Texas Chapter #35.

Almon (Al) H. Heep of Bandera, age 73, passed away April 26, 2004. He was born July 2, 1928, in Stonewall. Funeral service was held at Grimes Funeral Home in Bandera on April 30, 2004.

Lawrence Walter Jackson Jr., age 73, of Natalia passed away, April 3, 2004. He was born in San Antonio, May 13, 1930. Service and interment was at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, April 8, at Ft. Sam National Cemetery with Rev. Scott Martin officiating.

Mary B. Jenkins, 60, of Devine, passed away Thursday, Apr. 29, 2004, in Arlington. She was born July 26, 1943. Funeral service was held Saturday, May 1, 10 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Chapel with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Brother T. Glen Young officiated.

Howard Lee King, Sr., 95, passed away April 5, 2004, in San Antonio. He was born, Nov. 20, 1908 in Devine. A Masonic graveside service was held at Brummett Cemetery under the auspices of Devine Lodge # 590 A.F.& A.M.

Auda Vee McCrea, age 73, of Yancey passed away April 1, 2004, in San Antonio. Auda Vee was born on January 11, 1931, in San Antonio. Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, at the Yancey
United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Yancey Cemetery, Seventh-Day Adventist Section.

Marian Ann Messer Poehler was born Feb. 4, 1938, in Taft and passed away on April 11, 2004. Visitation was held Wednesday, April 14, at Hondo Funeral Home. Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, at Bethlehem Church in Quihi. Interment followed in Hondo Oakwood Section.

Manuela (Manuelita) G. Pompa, age 95, passed away April 9, 2004, in San Antonio. She was born Dec. 23, 1908, in Big Foot. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, Apr. 12. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated Tuesday, April 13, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Adolfo Valdivia- Aguirre officiating. Interment followed in Gutierrez Cemetery in Devine.

Geneva W. Potter, age 91, of Devine passed April 8, 2004, in Hondo. She was born in Georgetown on Feb. 10, 1913. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 12, at Moore Memorial Cemetery with Rev. John Melancon officiating.

Anastacia R. Reyna, age 79, of Lytle passed away April 14, 2004, in San Antonio. She was born in Edinburg, March 27, 1925. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Msgr. Adolfo Valdivia- Aguirre. Interment followed in Lytle Community Cemetery.

Ernest Roberson was born Dec. 20, 1926, in Seymore and died April 24, 2004. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, in Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, Lytle, with Rev. Scott Martin officiating. Interment followed in Lytle Masonic Cemetery.

Candelario T. Salas, age 74, of La Coste passed away Monday, Apr. 5, 2004, in San Antonio. Candelario was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Nell, . Rosary was Apr. 7, at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was held Thursday, Apr. 8, at 1 p.m. Interment followed at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in La Coste.

Albert William Schwope, age 84, of Boerne passed away April 18, 2004, in San Antonio. He was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Bexar County. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at First United Methodist Church, Boerne, with Rev. Barbara Galloway-Edgar and Rev. Larry Robins. Interment followed in Boerne Cemetery.

Jesusa Leal "Susie" Soliz, age 65, of Devine passed away March 31, 2004, in Victoria as the result of an automobile accident. Susie was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Yancey. Rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 4, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel and Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial was in the Yancey Cemetery.

Sue K. "Grandma" Springer, age 94, of Castroville passed away April 7, 2004. Visitation was held Friday, Apr. 9, at Sunset Funeral Home. Private scripture service was at 9 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 10. Entombment was in Sunset Memorial Park, San Antonio.

Theodore "Ted" F. Stecker, age 55, of Mansfield, passed away April 27, 2004, in the Arlington Memorial Hospital, Arlington. He was born Jan. 10, 1949, in Castroville. Memorial Mass was celebrated Friday, Apr. 30, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church in Mansfield. A Memorial Rosary was recited

Florence Ruth Zuberbueler Stiegler, 85, passed away peacefully on Apr. 15, 2004, at her home in Hondo, following a long illness. She was born in Dunlay, July 17, 1918. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Sunday, Apr. 18, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hondo. Funeral mass was celebrated at St. John's on Monday, Apr. 19, at 11 a.m. Interment followed at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Hondo.

Nettie Virginia "Ginger" Tondre of Hondo passed away Apr. 27, 2004, at the age of 85. Ginger was born in Hondo Jan. 18, 1919. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the First Baptist Church of Hondo. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery, WOW Section.

Hortancia Velasquez entered into rest on April 28, 2004, at the age of 85. Visitation was held from 1 - 9 p.m. on Friday, April 30, with a Rosary held at 7 p.m. at Hondo Funeral Home. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, at Hondo Funeral Home. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section on Tuesday, May 4, 2004.
