Ulester E. Aguiar, age 91, of Dunlay, passed away Sept. 11, 2004. Ulester was born Oct. 12, 1912, in San Antonio. Visitation was Monday, Sept. 13, at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Graveside service was held Tuesday, Sept. 14, 11:30 a.m., at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.

Maria "Mary" Garcia Alvizo, age 82, of Castroville passed away Sept. 10, 2004. She was born Dec. 25, 1921, in Castroville. Visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 12, at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment was at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville.

Joe Raymond Anderson, age 90, of Hondo passed away on Monday, Sept. 13, 2004. He was born in Bell, Aug. 4, 1914. Visitation was held at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home, on, Thursday, Sept. 16, and graveside service was at 12 noon at Quihi Cemetery.

Travis Wayne Attaway, Senior Patrol Agent United States Border Patrol, Department of Homeland Security, age 31, of San Benito, a native of D'Hanis, passed away Sept. 21, 2004. Travis was born May 3, 1973, in San Antonio. A Funeral Mass for Travis was held on Thursday, Sept. 23, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Harlingen. On Friday, the U. S. Border Patrol escorted his body to Guinn-Horger Funeral Home in Hondo and remained on guard overnight. Rosary and Funeral Mass was held Saturday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church and interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery in D'Hanis.

Carolina (Lena) B. Baumann, age 96, passed away Sept. 4, 2004. She was born Sept. 23, 1907, in D'Hanis, and grew up in La Costa and Castroville. The family received friends Monday, Sept. 6 at Porter Loring. A rosary and mass was held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at St. Gerard's Catholic Church. Interment followed in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Earl Truman Berry, age 89, of Yancey died on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004. He was born in Yancey on Oct. 22, 1914. Graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Yancey Cemetery.

Jeffrey Biediger, age 43, of Round Rock passed away Sept. 25, 2004, at home. Jeffrey was born Feb. 27, 1961, in San Antonio. Visitation Friday, Oct. 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass at 1 p.m., Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Gary Randall Boettcher, age 66, of Moreland, GA, passed away on Sept. 25, 2004. Funeral service was conducted in the Moreland Baptist Church with
interment in Southside Cemetery in Moreland.

Jody Marie Sims Brinegar, age 43, born Oct. 4, 1960, in Castroville, passed away Sept. 26, 2004. Visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Funeral service Thursday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Castroville. Interment at the Bexar Cemetery near Somerset.

Robert C. Brown, age 79, of Jourdanton, formerly of Devine, passed away Sept. 13, 2004. He was born June 4, 1925, in Moore. Funeral service Friday, Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father Jose F. Puente presided. Interment in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Jean Simpson Cagle, age 60, of Hondo, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004. She was born in Sweetwater, on July 8, 1944 and later moved to San Antonio with her family. Memorial service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, at the New Fountain United Methodist Church.

Geraldine Paula Irwin Calame, age 77, of Devine passed away Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at her residence. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Interment was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Daniel Mejia Castro, age 71, of San Antonio, passed away Sept. 16, 2004. Daniel was born March 4, 1933, in Campbelton. Funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 20, at 5:30 p.m. at the First
Baptist Church in Castroville. Interment was at Castroville Community Cemetery.

Ruth M. Cavender, age 77, of Sabinal passed away Sept. 17, 2004. She was born April 21, 1927, in Sabinal. Funeral service held Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at 3 p.m. at Central Christian Church in Sabinal with Johnny Smith presiding. Interment in the Sabinal Cemetery.

Johnny M. Crouch, age 61, of Devine, passed away Monday, September 13, 2004, at his residence. Funeral service was conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, in the First Baptist Church, Devine. Masonic graveside service was conducted under the auspices of Devine Lodge #590 A.F. & A.M., interment followed at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

John Wernette Ducos, age 83, of Castroville passed away Sept. 16, 2004,in San Antonio. John was born May 21, 1921 in San Antonio. Rosary was recited Sunday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was held Monday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. Both services were at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment was at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Richard P. Durant, age 67, of Hondo, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2004 in San Antonio. He was born in Fisherville, MA on Dec. 2, 1936. Visitation was Friday, Sept. 3, at the Memorial Funeral Home in San Antonio. A memorial service was held on Sunday Sept. 5, at the Lone Star Corral RV Community Club House in Hondo.

John Ferguson, age 52, of Belmont, MA, died suddenly at his home Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004. He was born in Hondo on Sept. 23, 1951. More info pending.

Annie Frances Haller, age 86, of Natalia, passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2004. She was born in LaCoste, July 26, 1918. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church with Father Romeo Olivares officiating. Interment followed in LaCoste Cemetery.

Dale "Bill" Hampton, age 77, passed away Sept. 30, 2004, in Lytle. He was born June 17, 1926, in Galesburg, IL. Graveside service was held on Tuesday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.

Eloisa B. Herrera, of Hondo, age 55, passed away on Sept. 4, 2004. Visitation was from 3 to 9 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 5, at Hondo Funeral Home. A Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6. Funeral Mass was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday Sept. 7, at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Barbara Nell Hester, 69, of Devine, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2004. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the
Devine Church of Christ Building, with interment to follow in Lytle Community Cemetery.

Laura Bertha (Ainger) Hooge, 96, passed away Sept. 15, 2004, in Jourdanton. Visitation and rosary was held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton Friday, September 17, 2004. The funeral mass was held at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Pleasanton at 10 a. m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004. Interment followed at St. Andrew's Cemetery #1.

Irene Helen Mehr Jungman, age 89, of Castroville passed away Sept. 15, 2004. Irene was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Bader Settlement, Medina County. Funeral Mass was offered by Fr. Jim Conway at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville on Friday, Sept. 17. The Rosary was led by Deacon Gene Ebner on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Louis Cemetery, Castroville.

Fanny Dorothy Applewhite Keller, age 84, of Castroville passed away Sept. 24, 2004. Fanny was born Nov. 1, 1919, in San Antonio. Visitation was held at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 26, with Funeral Mass at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Rosary was recited Monday at 10 a.m., also at the church. Interment was at St. Louis Cemetery in Castroville.

Pola Lopez, age 80, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at home. Rosary was recited Wednesday, Sept. 8, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Sept. 9, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will be in Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Prudencia "Pola" Lopez, age 80 years, of Hondo, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004. She was born in Yancey, on April 28, 1924. Rosary was recited Thursday, Sept. 9, and Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial was in Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Ethel Mae Thompson Meeks, age 65, of Hondo passed away Monday, Sept. 13, 2004. She was born in Little Rock, AR, on March 20, 1939. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. Burial was in the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Joseph P. Ney Sr. of Roslindale, MA, formerly of Hondo, died on Aug. 30, 2004, at The Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Norwood MA. He was 83 years of age. Mr. Ney was born and raised in Hondo. Funeral Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Roslindale on Sept. 2.

Anita Duran Robles, age 85, passed away Sept. 25, 2004, in San Antonio. She was born in Hondo, April 10, 1919. Visitation was Monday, Sept. 27, with rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Palm Heights Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. at the chapel with burial following in Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Dorothy Tillman Ross, age 81, of La Coste, passed away on Sept. 9, 2004. She was born Aug. 24, 1923, in Sommerset, KY . Visitation was held Friday, Sept. 10, at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Graveside service Saturday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.

Bonnard Rothe, age 83, of D'Hanis, passed away Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004. He was born in D'Hanis on March 3, 1921. Rosary was recited at 9:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, followed by the Funeral Mass, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. Interment was at the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Matias Rangel Salazar, born March 14, 1924, in La Coste, passed away Sept. 25, 2004. Visitation at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home was Monday, Sept. 27, from 12:30 noon to 8:30 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment was at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in La Coste.

Austin J. Schell Jr. , age 79, died on Monday, Sept. 7, at his home in San Antonio. Rev. Schell was born in 1925 in Port Arthur. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Rev. Pat Spannagel of Pyron Avenue Baptist Church, San Antonio, officiated. Interment was at Castroville Community Cemetery.

Curtis Herald Shaw, age 88 , of Devine passed away Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004. He was born in Beggs, OK, Oct. 13, 1915. Funeral service was at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Whitt officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.

Simone Sonnier passed away peacefully at her home in Natalia on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004. She was born March 13, 1923, in France. Funeral Mass was Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Saint John Bosco Church in Natalia. Interment was at Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Devine.

Leon Stone, age 90, died Sept. 4, 2004 in Austin.
He was a retired president of the Austin National Bank, and also served as a director of the Hondo National Bank several years ago.

Chester J. Webb, age 76, of Castroville passed away Sept. 14, 2004. Chester was born May 26, 1928, in Austin. Funeral service was held at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 17, at 10:30 a.m. Entombment was at St. Louis Garden Mausoleum at St. Louis Cemetery, Castroville.

Augustine G. Yanes Sr., age 83, of Devine, passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2004. He was born in San Antonio, July 27, 1921. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Jose F. Puente officiating. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
