Ariana Josepha Aguinaga , age 2, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008, at her home. She is survived by her parents: Johnny and Amanda Aguinaga; brother, Alonzo Aguinaga; sister, Robyn Aguinaga, all of Natalia. Rosary was recited Sunday, May 25th in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated Monday, May 26th at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Natalia, with interment following in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Frank Jefferson Blackmon, age 73, of Natalia passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 in San Antonio. Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 13, at the First Baptist Church of Devine, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery.

Earl Howard “Flash” Bledsoe II, 44, of Pearsall, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in Pearsall. He was born November 10, 1963, in Alpine. Services were scheduled for Saturday, May 10, in the First Baptist Church of Pearsall with cremation to follow.

Mariano “Cam” Camarillo Jr., 78, of La Coste passed away May 6, 2008, in San Antonio. He was born July 23, 1929, in San Antonio. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home open for visitation on Friday, May 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. His body will be cremated.

Lucia Gomez Cantu, 85, of La Coste, passed away May 30, 2008, in Lytle. She was born September 8, 1922, in Castroville. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home was the site for the Rosary. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, June 3, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment followed at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in La Coste.

Alfred Lee Carroll, age 65, of Lytle, passed away at his residence Friday, May 16, 2008. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 20, at the First United Methodist Church, Lytle. Interment followed in Lytle Community Cemetery.

Soilo Cavazos, Jr., age 65, of Mico, passed away May 27, 2008, at his home. Soilo was born Sept. 28, 1942, in Harlingen. A graveside service with military honors followed by interment was held Monday, June 2, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Jim Davis, age 61, of Lytle passed away Monday, May 26, 2008, in San Antonio. A memorial tribute held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in the Fellowship Hall of the Devine First United Methodist Church. The funeral service conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Devine First United Methodist Church. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, with Pastor Mark Brechin officiating.

Graciela Dominguez, age 70, of Hondo passed away on May 5, 2008. Rosary was recited on Wednesday, May 7, at Hondo Funeral Home. A 10 a.m. Funeral Mass Thursday, May 8, at St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment in Hondo Cemetery.

Kenneth Lee Evans of Yancey was called home by the Lord on May 15, 2008, at the age of 70. He was born in Kirkwood, MO, Dec. 6, 1937. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service held Saturday at Emmanuel AME Church, 1600 Semlinger, San Antonio. Interment at Yancey Cemetery.

Helen Dorothy Frerichs, age 87, passed away at her home on the family ranch in D’Hanis on May 24, 2008. She was born in Manchester, KY, on Jan. 9, 1921. A private family memorial service was held in Flagstaff, at a later date.

Edna Johnna Peter Futschik, 89, of Atascosa, passed away May 1, 2008, at home. She was born June 24, 1918, in San Antonio. Rosary was recited Sunday, May 4. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, May 5, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Macdona. Interment followed in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery in La Coste.

TSGT. Joseph Henry Gallagher, United States Air Force (Retired) passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 29, 2008, at the age of 64 in Natalia. He was born on June 29, 1943, in Alice. Rosary was recited Tuesday, June 3, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, Devine. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, Devine. Graveside services were held June 4, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Carol Jean Whaley Gerloff, age 62, of Castroville, passed away May 10, 2008. Carol was born July 15, 1945 in Gatesville. Rosary was held Tuesday, May 13, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, Castroville. Funeral Service was held Wednesday, May 14, at St. Louis Catholic Church. Entombment at St. Louis Catholic Garden Mausoleum.

Jean Engelhardt Hart, age 80, of Castroville, passed away May 25, 2008, in Castroville. Jean was born Oct. 6, 1927 in San Antonio. Funeral Service was Wednesday, May 28, at Zion Lutheran Church, Castroville. Interment followed at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Castroville.

Consuelo Duran De Hernandez , of Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico, entered rest on May 22, 2008, in Natalia, at the age of 63 years. She was born August 5, 1944, in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Rosary services were held on Saturday, May 26, at Trevino-Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel, Pearsall. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devine. Interment followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Devine.

Preston H. Koehler, age 77, passed away, Thursday, May 15, 2008 at his residence. Rosary was recited Sunday, May 18, at Hurley Funeral Home, Lytle. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, May 19, at St Andrews Catholic Church, Lytle. Interment followed in Blackhill Cemetery, Atascosa.

Johanna Regina Mueller Mangold, age 93, of Castroville passed away May 18, 2008. Johanna was born Sept. 30, 1914, in D’Hanis. Mass of Resurrection was Wednesday, May 21, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Castroville. Rosary recited Thursday, May 22, at 9:30 a.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Interment followed the Rosary at San Fernando Catholic Cemetery II.

Wayne A. Martin, Msgt USAF (ret.), Castroville, passed away May 7, 2008, at the age of 61. Full military honors were accorded Wayne at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on May 13, 2008 at 9:15 a.m.

Jimmy R. Null, age 73, of Lytle, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008, in San Antonio. Mr. Null was born along the banks of Lake McQueeny, in July 22, 1934. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, May 27, in the Chapel of Hurley Funeral Home, Lytle. Interment followed in Lytle Community Cemetery.

Robert “Bobby” Lee Pursley, age 67, of Lytle passed away May 9, 2008. Robert was born Sept. 20, 1940, in Placedo. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home opened at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 15, for visitation prior to the funeral service which began at 2 p.m. He will be cremated.

Tomasa (Torres) Rodriguez of San Antonio, age 80, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008. Tomasa was born March 7, 1928, in Hondo. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 2, and the Funeral Mass was at 11 a.m. Saturday, both at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Burial was at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Leslee Hunter Schooley, of Lytle, age 44, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 4, 2008. “Les” died after a lengthy illness. Rosary was recited Wednesday, May 7th in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, Lytle. Interment followed in Lytle Community Cemetery.

Eugene ‘Gene’ P. Selle passed away on May 4, 2008, at the age of 83. He was born in Waco on February 8, 1925. Funeral service was Wednesday, May 7, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery.

Richard Boyd Simpson passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Medina Community Hospital of complications of diabetes. He was born in Winslow, Indiana on November 6, 1942. A memorial service held on Saturday, May 17, at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Services are under the direction of Hondo Funeral Home
of Hondo.

Sylvia M. Smith, age 66, of Devine passed away Monday, May 5, 2008 at her residence. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, Devine.

Judith “Judy” Elizabeth Coyle Tompkins, age 52, of Hondo, passed away May 26, 2008, in San Antonio. Judy was born July 1, 1955, in Hondo. The Rosary was recited Tuesday, May 27 at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, May 28, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment followed in the Hondo Cemetery.

Bernice Inez West was born on December 21, 1916, in Gonzales County. She went peacefully to be with her Lord on May 13, 2007, at the age of 91 in Hondo.Service was held May 16, at Seydler Hill Funeral Home and interment followed at Gonzales Memorial Park, Gonzales.

SFC(Ret.) Juan “Johnny” Zapata, age 53 passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008, at his home. Rosary was recited Monday, June 2 in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated Tuesday, June 3, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Natalia. Interment with a graveside service was Wednesday, June 4, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Alma M. Zerr passed away on May 20, 2008, in Hondo Community Care Center at the age of 90. She was born on July 6, 1917 in D’Hanis. Rosary was recited at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D’Hanis on Friday, May 23. The funeral mass followed. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery in D’Hanis with Father Wallace Stiles officiating.
