Regina Alice Bailey of Hondo passed away May 26, 2004, at the age of 92 years. Regina was born on Oct. 22, 1911, in Yancey. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Joe Y. Barrientes of Hondo passed away May 5, 2004, at the age of 54. Joe was born on Feb. 8, 1949 in Hondo.   The Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. The Funeral Mass was at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Robert O. Barrientes, 87, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 1, 2004. He was born and reared in Hondo and was a graduate of Hondo High School.    Holy Rosary was recited on Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 7 p.m. at the Ortiz Chapel and Mass was held at St. Jude's Catholic Church on Wednesday. Interment followed at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.

Lillian Christine Kempf Brieden, 86, passed away Monday, May 3, 2004. "Lil" as she was better known, was born in Devine on Jan. 13, 1918, the third of eight children.   Visitation was Thursday, May 6, 2-4 p.m. at Hurley Chapel and 5-8 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Vigil Service at 7 p.m.    Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, 10 a.m., at St. Joseph's
Catholic Church with Rev. Lawrence Christian as celebrant. Interment at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Devine.

Guillermo Botello Sr., age 50, passed away May 17, 2004, at home in Castroville. He was born August 19, 1953, in Castroville. Burial was May 21, 2004, in the Hondo Oakwood Cemetery.

Thelma Steubing Bourquin, 85, passed away quietly on May 12, 2004. Rosary was recited Sunday, May 16, 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Mass of
Resurrection in celebration of her life was held Monday, 2 p.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church with interment in St. Louis Cemetery.

Ethel Jewel Morgan Burch, age 91, of San Antonio died Sunday, May 16, 2004, in San Antonio. She was born March 20, 1913, in Austin. Graveside service
was held Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Mahomet Cemetery, Burnet County.

Laurie Ann Rihn Burkett, 49, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 12, 2004. Laurie was born on Nov.12, 1954, in Castroville. A rosary was recited Sunday, May 16, 6 p.m., St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville and Funeral Mass was held Monday, May 17, at 10 a.m. A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 18, at 6 p.m. in Austin at the Powerhouse of Praise Christian Fellowship Center.

Sarai Claudia Carrijo of Hondo was stillborn on May 23, 2004, to Fred S. and Lee Andrea (Parker) Carrijo in San Antonio. Graveside service was held at 11
a.m. Saturday, May 29, at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Adam A. Castillo, age 26, of Castroville passed away May 11, 2004, in Dallas. He was born Sept. 25, 1977, in Hondo. A memorial service was held Friday, May 14, 11 a.m., at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville.

Claudia Inez Cosgrove, age 71, of Canyon Lake, formerly of Hondo and El Paso, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2004. She was born April 21, 1933, in Brady

Vivian W. Curtis passed away in her sleep Friday evening, May 21, 2004, at the age of 86. She was born on Aug. 29, 1917, in Winslow AZ. A memorial service honoring her life was held at St. Matthews United Methodist Church in San Antonio.

Neva Elvira Silvers Dean of D'Hanis passed away May 12, 2004, at the age of 93. Neva was born Nov. 3, 1910 near Tarpley. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. Interment was in Tarpley Cemetery.

Ramon DeLeon of Yancey passed away May 21, 2004, at the age of 84. Ramon was born Jan. 31, 1920 in Yancey. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 24, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment was in Yancey Cemetery.

Ignasia Vosquez Dominguez, age 73, of National Road, Valley Grove, WV, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2004, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. She was born March 15, 1931, in Hondo. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Kepner Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Cook officiating. Interment was in Park View Memorial Gardens, Wheeling, WV.

Maurine Vivian DuBose of Devine passed away Saturday, May 8, 2004, at the age of 79. She was born in Divot, March 31, 1925. Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Evergreen Cemetery led by John C. Narramore.

Arthur H. Erfurt, age 82, of Tarpley, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2004, in a Kerrville hospital. He was born on July 28, 1921, in Tarpley. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Friday, May 28, at Grimes Chapel, with Mr. Martin Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Tarpley Cemetery.

Pedro Dela Rosa Esquibel, age 86, of Devine passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004, in San Antonio. He was born in Bigfoot, May 13, 1918. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Msgr. Adolfo Valdivia-Aguirre officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Mary Ellen Callahan Gallaway, 89, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004. She was born Jan. 29, 1915, in San Antonio. Vigil service was held Thursday, May 20, 7 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes. Rosary was Friday at 10 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 at the church and interment at San Fernando Cemetery No. 2.

Juana B. Gonzales of Hondo, passed away May 22, 2004, at the age of 80. Juana was born Nov. 8, 1923 in Hondo. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, at St. John's. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Julia G. Gonzales of D'Hanis passed away May 9, 2004, at the age of 61. Julia was born Jan. 28, 1943, in Hondo. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, and. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, both at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D'Hanis. Interment was in San Francisco Cemetery in D'Hanis.

Mildred Norrine Jackson Hazen, age 92, of Devine passed away Friday, May 21, 2004, in San Antonio. She was born in Cannonsburg, PA, Jan. 9, 1912. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. T. Gleg Young officiating. Interment was in Evergreen
Cemetery.

Anna Lee Hellsten, age 54, of Cibolo passed away May 26, 2004. Anna was born on September 30, 1949 in Hondo. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, at the Schertz First Baptist Church, with Reverend Tim Baker officiating. Graveside service and interment was at 2 p.m. in the Yancey Cemetery.

Albert W. (Sonny) Hoog, age 77, of Castroville passed away May 30, 2004, in San Antonio. Sonny was born April 16, 1927, in Castroville. The Rosary and funeral mass were celebrated Wednesday, June 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment was in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.

Beverly Ann Hudsonpillar, age 70, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2004, in Hondo. She was born in Cleveland, OK, July 6, 1933. A memorial service was held in the Sabinal Christian Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 13.

Juana Richarte Lopez, age 72, of San Antonio departed this life Wednesday, May 12, 2004. She was born May 7, 1932, in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Rosary was recited Friday, May 14, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass was held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment was at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.

Cody Allen Lutz, age 16, of Helotes passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, as a result of a tragic four-wheeling accident. Survivors include his parents, Ray and Chere Lutz; maternal mother, Suzanne Poulsen; brother and sisters, Amanda Raines, Amber Lutz, Melissa Amicone, Jared Amicone and Brianna Lutz; grandparents, Harold and Pam Lutz, John and June Henke, Neva Goodpaster. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes and Funeral Mass was Saturday, 10 a.m. Interment was at St. John's Cemetery in Hondo.

Paulino Rodriguez, age 62, of Natalia passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2004, in Lytle. He was born in Natalia, June 22, 1941. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 29, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church with Father Romeo Olivares. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Owen Lee Samford of Hondo passed away May 27, 2004, at the age of 71 years. Owen was born on March 23, 1933, in Brookesmith. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, WOW Section.

Sandra K. Seekatz, age 66, of Mico passed away May 1, 2004, at her home. She was born Jan. 18, 1938, in Portland, Oregon. Rosary was recited Tuesday, May 4, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Service was held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church and entombment was at St. Louis Garden Mausoleum in Castroville.

Mary Sutherland, age 53, passed away May 5, 2004, in San Antonio. She was born Nov. 14, 1950, in Castroville. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Friday at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Mass was celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Evangelist Catholic Church. A private inurnment followed at a later date.

Travis William Van Damme, age eight years, seven months, 22 days, was called to the Lord, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. He has now his place amongst God's angels. Travis is survived by his parents, Brian William and Nancie Perez Van Damme and loving sister, Brianne all of Hondo. Celebration of his life began with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, Hondo. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at St. John's Catholic Church. Entombment followed at Hondo Cemetery.

Robert L. "Bob" Vorpahl, age 59, of San Antonio passed away May 7, 2004. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Monday, May 10, at Porter Loring Chapel with Rev. Dr. Bill Treude officiating. Interment followed in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

Delma Frances (Perry) Wingate, passed away on May 11, 2004, in San Antonio. She was born Sept. 2, 1926, in Bigfoot. Graveside service was held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Devine on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at with Dr. T. Glen Young from the First Baptist Church of Devine officiating.

Ramon L. Ybarra Sr., age 69, of Kerrville passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004, from a long battle with cancer. He was born May 11, 1935, in Marathon. Service was held at 4 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels on Saturday, May 29, 2004, officiated by David Rodriguez and Rufus Ruiz. Interment followed at Mountain View Cemetery.
