Billy Wess Allen, age 63, of the Yancey-Moore area passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2003, in Sierra Vista, AZ. He was born in Moore on May 5, 1940. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Blackburn officiating. Interment followed in Moore Memorial Cemetery, Moore.

Belen Hernandez Arnold was born Nov. 2, 1912, in Hondo. She passed away June 1, 2003, in San Antonio at the age of 90. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel and the Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment was at the Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Henry "Hank" F. Bell, age 69, of San Antonio passed away June 14, 2003. He was born Sept. 15, 1933, in Allen. Funeral service was Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. at the Castroville First Baptist Church. Interment with full military honors was at 1:45 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Ted Allan Bridges, age 59, passed away June 7, 2003, at Harvest Care Nursing Home, Castroville. He was born in Rhode Island on Oct. 24, 1943. Grave- side service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Sabinal Cemetery with Mr. James Mortensen officiating.

Brigadier General James B. Burwell, USAF (Ret) made his last flight on Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at 100 years of age at AFV II Health Care Center. The General was born on July 5, 1902, in Tarboro, NC. Memorial service was held at Air Force Village II High Flight Chapel, San Antonio, Tuesday, July 1, at 9:30 a.m. Graveside service was held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

William B. Bywaters, age 80, of Devine passed away Saturday, June 7, 2003. He was born in Devine, Nov. 21, 1922. Graveside service was at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Evergreen Cemetery with Dr. Glenn Young officiating.

Juan O. Corona passed away June 7, 2003, in Tacoma, WA, at the age of 79 years. He was born July 23, 1923, in Uvalde. Graveside service was at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Hondo Cemetery,
Guadalupe Section, Hondo.

Robert Harold Dixon, age 61, of Dunlay passed away June 16, 2003, at home. He was born Nov. 9, 1941, in Columbus, SC. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Interment, with full military honors, will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Myron Anna Evans, age 80, of Devine passed away Monday, June 2, 2003, in Jourdanton. She was born in New Orleans, LA, Sept. 29, 1922. Funeral service was at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 6, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Msgr. Adolfo Valdivia-Aguirre. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Bertha Lee McCasland, 93, of Stanton died June 8, 2003, in a Stanton nursing home. She was born Aug. 16, 1909, in Okemah, OK. Memorial service was June 14 at the Roaring Springs Cemetery in Roaring
Springs.

Verlean Ruth Mumme Flory passed away June 1, 2003, in San Antonio at the age of 74 years. She was born June 14, 1928, in Hondo. Rosary was recited at 9:30 a.m. and the Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. on
Thursday, June 5, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment was at the Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section.

Delores Sue McAnelly, age 68, of Castroville passed away after a brief battle with cancer Friday, June 13, 2003, in San Antonio. She was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Wilson County, OK. The funeral service was held Monday at 10 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Quihi. Interment was in Yancey Community Cemetery.

Effie Naomi Steinle Mechler, age 88, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003, after a brief illness. Naomi was born June 30, 1914, in Dunlay. Mass of Resurrection was concelebrated by Msgr. Roy Rihn and Rev. Jim Conway at 7 p.m. Sunday. Rosary was led by Msgr. Roy Rihn and Rev. Jim Conway, Monday at 10 a.m. Both services were held at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, alongside her beloved Curley.

Dolphis Leon Milligan, age 69, passed away on June 3, 2003. He was born November 30, 1933, in Grange, Sharpe County, AR. Funeral service was held Saturday, June 7, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel
of the Hurley Funeral Home. Interment later in Milligan
Campground Cemetery, Cove City, AR.

Mary Loretta Koch Nehr was born June 1, 1909, in D'Hanis. She passed away June 10, 2003, in Rockport at the age of 94 years and nine days. Rosary was recited at 2:30 p.m. and Funeral Mass at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 13, both at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. Interment was at the
Holy Cross Cemetery.

Eva Pedroza, age 57, of Devine passed away Saturday, June 21, 2003, in San Antonio. Mass was celebrated 0n Wednesday, June 25, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Thomas A. Purnell Jr., age 77, passed away on his birthday, June 6, 2003, at his home in Castroville. Thomas was born June 6, 1926, in Waco. Funeral service was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville, followed by interment at Castroville Community Cemetery.

George W. Reitzer passed away June 22, 2003, in Hondo at the age of 92 years. He was born February 22, 1911, in Dunlay. Visitation was Tuesday at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home in Hondo. The funeral service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Schur officiating.

Petra F. Reyes, age 76, of Natalia passed away Thursday, June 19, 2003, in San Antonio. She was born in Natalia, April 29, 1927.

Zrayda H. Rushing of Sabinal passed away June 30, 2003, in Uvalde at the age of 78 years. She was born December 17, 1924. Funeral service which was held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at First Baptist Church of Sabinal.

Pascual R. "Jimmie" Saldana, age 69, of Devine passed away Thursday, June 12, 2003. He was born in Kyle on Jan. 13, 1934. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church with Father Romeo Olivarez. Interment followed in Moore Catholic Cemetery.

Vernon Schuchardt, longtime resident of San Antonio, entered into eternal rest on June 8, 2003, at the age of 80 years. He was born Sept. 22, 1922, in Bergheim. Visitation was held on Thursday, June 12, 5 to 9 p.m. and funeral service was Friday at 11 a.m., both at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. Concluding service was held at the Smith Cemetery in Bergheim where he will be laid to rest.

Tobey C. Tomblin, age 89, of Devine passed away in Jourdanton. He was born in Atascosa County, Dec. 6, 1913. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Glenn Young officiating. Interment at Sand Branch Cemetery.

Jeannette Bryan Trembley passed away on June 22, 2003. She was born Feb. 11, 1931, in Edinburg and was a resident of Castroville at the time of her
death. A memorial service was held Wednesday, June 25, 2 p.m., at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home.

Mike "Bubba" Vincent, age 56, of San Antonio entered into eternal rest June 15, 2003. Arrangements were by Hillcrest Funeral Home, San Antonio.

Lena B. Purvis Wilson, age 95, passed away June 11, 2003, at Harvest Communities, Hondo. She was born Dec. 22, 1907, in Comanche County. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Hondo. Interment was at the Greenwood Cemetery in Waco on Monday, June 16.
