Anita Cuellar Alfaro, age 62, of Lytle passed away Sunday, June 2, 2002. She was born in LaCoste, Nov. 10, 1939. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church with Father Romeo Olivares officiating. Interment followed in Lytle Community Cemetery.

Ellen Wilson Berry, age 84, of Yancey passed away June 12, 2002, in Hondo. She was born Feb. 6, 1918. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Yancey United Methodist Church, led by Joe Bentley. Interment was in Yancey Cemetery, Yancey.

Garland C. Boggess

Garland C. Boggess, age 73, of Hondo, entered into eternal rest on June 2, 2002, in San Antonio. He was born March 20, 1929, in Gonzales. Graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Sunset
Memorial Park.

Nathan M. Brantley/CJ A. Magnon

Nathan M. Brantley of Hondo, age 22, and CJ A. Magnon of ConCan, age 21, passed away Sunday, June 22, in a one-vehicle accident near ConCan.
    Nathan is survived by his mother, Melinda Hargrove; father, Jim Brantley; sister, Natasha Lee; and nephew, Tristan Gonzales.
    Memorial arrangements for Nathan were not available at press time.
    CJ is survived by his mother, Diane Magnon; father, Charles Magnon; and five brothers and sisters, Audrey Willis, Crystal Schafer, Matthew Magnon, Daniel Magnon and Bryan Magnon.
    A memorial service for CJ was held Wednesday, June 26, at 11 a.m. at the ConCan Community Center.

ADDIE L. 'KAHKI' BEECHLY CHANDLER

Addie L. "Kahki" Beechly Chandler, age 81, of San Antonio, formerly of Ft. Worth, passed away June 10, 2002, at Lackland AFB. She was born August 28,
1920, in Tolar. Graveside service was held Friday, June 14, at 10:00 a.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery, Restfull Oak Section in Ft. Worth.

Connie Dee Chant

Connie Dee Chant of New Braunfels, formerly of Natalia, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2002. She was born in Mobeetie, July 26, 1911. Funeral service was at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert D. Garrett officiating. Interment followed in
Evergreen Cemetery.

ARTHUR ORIEN CLARK JR.

Arthur Orien Clark Jr., age 73, of San Antonio passed away June 15, 2002. He was born in Parker on Sept. 25, 1928. Graveside service was at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Evergreen Cemetery, Devine, with John Clark officiating.

LORENA ROBERSON CRABTREE

Lorena Roberson Crabtree, aged 89, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, in Angleton. she was born Sept. 17, 1912, in San Antonio. Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, in Evergreen Cemetery, Devine.

Willie Mae Driscoll

Willie Mae Driscoll, age 96, of Devine, teacher and community leader, died June 7, 2002. Willie Mae was born April 7, 1906, in Johnson County. Funeral Service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 10, at the First United Methodist Church, Devine. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery.

Jules Willis Fontaine

Jules Willis Fontaine, age 80, of Quihi passed away June 2, 2002, in San Antonio. He was born March 16, 1922, in San Antonio. Graveside service was led by Rev. Bob Overman, Tuesday, June 4, at 9:15 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard.

ARTURO GARCIA

Arturo Garcia, age 71, of Hondo passed away June 10, 2002, in San Antonio. He was born in Cotulla on Sept. 7, 1930. A memorial service and Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. A private interment service was held Saturday at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

VIRGINIA RUTH HELANDER GROFF

Virginia Ruth Helander Groff, age 71, of LaCoste passed away June 16, 2002, at home. She was born May 17, 1931, in San Pedro, CA. Funeral service was held Wednesday, June 19, at 1 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home followed by interment at St. Louis Catholic
Cemetery in Castroville.

Guadalupe "Lupe" R. Hernandez

Guadalupe "Lupe" R. Hernandez, age 80, passed away in San Antonio June 19, 2002. He was born in Hondo, Nov. 12, 1921. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, June 21 and Funeral Mass was at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating. Both services were at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section with Military Honors.

Samuel Newton Holden, age 91, of Devine passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2002. He was born Feb. 18, 1911, in Cedar Park. Funeral service was at 10 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2002, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. Service was led by Bro. Charles Reasner and Dr. Richard
Peterson. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.

Thomas Robert Hubbard, age 47, of Lytle passed away June 4, 2002. he was born in Uvalde, November 7, 1954. Funeral Service was at 10 a.m. Monday, June 10, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Bishop officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.

XAVIER RYAN LeMASTER

Xavier Ryan LeMaster, born in San Antonio June 12, 2002, went to heaven with Jesus June 13, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Peter and Amber LeMaster of LaCoste; grandparents, Mitchell and Hortencia LeMaster of Castroville and Eva Armsworthy of Kerrville. Graveside service was held Monday, June 17, at 4:30 pm at the Castroville Community Cemetery.

Roman D. "Blackie" Martinez, age 75, of Hondo passed away in San Antonio, June 4, 2002. He was born in Hondo on September 6, 1926. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Friday, June 7, and Mass was at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating both services which were held at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

JOSEFINA MENDOZA MONCADA

Josefina Mendoza Moncada, age 58, of Yancey passed away June 12, 2002, in Hondo. She was born in Hondo, Aug. 22, 1943. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, June 14, and Funeral Mass was at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15. Rev. Jeff Pehl officiated both services at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment was in the Yancey Cemetery.

Dorothy Lydia Neuman, age 89, of Hondo passed away June 11, 2002. She was born in Reedville on June 19, 1912. The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. David J. Mayer officiating. Interment was in Hondo
Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Ivy Jean (Null) Nixon passed away June 22, 2002, in Castroville at the age of 70. She was born on April 20, 1932, in Yancey. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at First Baptist Church led by John O. McKay. Interment followed in Yancey Cemetery, Yancey.

Ralph J. Noonan

Ralph J. Noonan, age 85, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at the VA hospital in Kerrville. He was born Mar. 2, 1917, in Hondo. A small family service was held on his ranch near Dunlay where his cremains were buried.

Maybelle Claire Owens

Maybelle Claire Owens, age 95, of Hondo passed away June 4, 2002, in Uvalde. She was born November 2, 1906, in Blue Ridge. A private graveside service was held, as was her wish. Lon Rushing officiated at the 10 a.m. service, Friday, June 7, at Sabinal Cemetery.

Juanita P. Rodriguez, age 76, of Natalia passed away Thursday, June 13, 2002, in San Antonio. Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at Hurley Funeral Home
Chapel. Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, Natalia. Interment was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Devine.

Hortencia O. Tovar, age 82, of D'Hanis passed away June 11, 2002, in Hondo. She was born in Yancey, Feb. 6, 1921. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday and Mass was at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, with Father Wallis J. Stiles officiating both services at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D'Hanis. Interment was in San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Ron Stringfellow, Saturday, June 8, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Graveside service and interment were held at the Castroville Community Cemetery, Sunday, June 9, with Rev. Stringfellow officiating.
