Rena C. “Peg” Baker, age 97, of Jourdanton and formerly of Devine, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008 at her residence. Funeral services held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church of Devine. Interment held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.

Erna Lena Faseler Boggus, age 95, of Yancey passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2008. Erna was born Oct. 11, 1912, in Yancey. Funeral service was Monday, June 16, at the Yancey United Methodist Church, with burial at the Yancey Cemetery. Pastor Tim Birkner and Rev. Dannette Howell officiated.

Wayne B. Buttler, age 92, of Kerrville passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008, in a local care center. He was born June 22, 1916, in Sabinal. Graveside service will be held Friday, June 27, 2 p.m. at Sabinal Cemetery, Sabinal.

Eligio C. Carrillo, age 86, of Lytle passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008. Rosary was recited at Hurley Funeral Home Friday, June 27. Mass was celebrated Saturday, June 28 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Natalia, with interment at Lytle Community Cemetery.

Pamela Louise Crutchfield Cujko, age 43, of Fredericksburg, formerly of Hondo, went to be with the Lord June 6, 2008. She was born August 12, 1964, in Moberly, MO. Memorial service was held Wednesday, June 11, at First United Methodist Church, Hondo.

Amanda Nicole Dalton, age 21 of Hondo, passed away on June 16, 2008. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday June 20, at The First Baptist Church in Hondo. An 11 a.m. funeral service held on Friday, June 20, also at The First Baptist Church. Interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville.

Donald Ray Davidson, 71, of Florence, AZ, formerly of Hondo, passed away June 14, 2008, in Casa Grande, AZ. He was born Dec. 15, 1936, in Ainsworth, NE. Graveside service with military honors Thursday, June 19, at 10 a.m. at the Quihi Cemetery in Quihi.

Charles James Embrey entered into rest June 11, 2008, in Austin at the age of 95. He was born May 19, 1913, in Hondo. Rosary was recited Friday, June 13, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. Funeral mass was celebrated Saturday, June 14, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. A committal service followed in Holy Cross Cemetery in San Antonio.

Samuel Fernandez of Hondo passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at the age of 89. He was born in Nordheim. The Rosary was recited on Thursday, June 5, at Trevino Funeral Home. Procession departed from the funeral home on Friday, June 6, for a Holy Mass of the Resurrection at San Juan de los Lagos Catholic Church, San Antonio. Interment followed in San Fernando Cemetery No. 3.

Jessie Almeda Dougan Fitzpatrick, 80, of Rowlett, and formerly of San Antonio, passed away June 14, 2008, in Fort Worth. She was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Prattsville, AR. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home was open for visitation on Friday, June 20, from 9:20 to 10:20 a.m. Procession departed the Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. for a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Fort Sam Houston.

Juanita Lopez Gonzales, age 87, passed away Friday, June 6, 2008, in Lubbock. She was born in Jourdanton, Jan. 26, 1921. Funeral service was held Tuesday, June 10, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Angelina S. “Sis” Groff Graff of Hondo, age 84, passed away Monday, June 23, 2008. Sis was born Mar. 2, 1924, at the old Schuehle home in Hondo. Funeral service was held Friday, June 27, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi. Burial was at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Sidney Charles Groff, age 91, of La Coste, passed away June 3, 2008, at home. He was born January 6, 1917, in Castroville. Rosary was recited Wednesday at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, June 5, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville with interment in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.

Barbara Joan Holeman, age 63, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008, in San Antonio. Memorial service held Thursday, June 26, at 10 a.m., at Rosehill Church of Christ, Devine.

Ruth E. Iredale, 83, of Atascosa, passed away June 18, 2008, in Lytle. She was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Atascosa. Funeral service was held Saturday, June 21, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Graveside service was Monday, June 23, at Lawn-haven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo.

Bobby Lynn Jordan, 61, of Castroville, passed away June 25, 2008, in Castroville. He was born July 3, 1946, in Athens, TX. Memorial Service was held on Saturday, June 28, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville.

Cecil Lane of Atascosa, beloved father and grandfather, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008, in San Antonio. A graveside service was held at 2:15 p.m., July 3, 2008, Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, with full military honors. Reverend Ross Chandler officiated.

Dr. Donald J. Mangold, age 78, passed away June 28, 2008. He was born July 1, 1929, in La Coste. Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Blanco Rd. Father Ed Vigil officiated. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Adam Marin Jr., 27, of La Coste passed away June 8, 2008. He was born July 8, 1980, in San Antonio. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home open for visitation on Friday, June 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral service Saturday, June 14, at 10 a.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Interment at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.

Jenerva Marquardt, age 94 of Atascosa, passed away Monday, June 30, 2008, in Lytle. Graveside Service was held Thursday, July 3, at Blackhill Cemetery in Atascosa.

Jose Martin Mata, age 51, of Devine, passed away Monday, June 2, 2008, at Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio. Visitation held Thursday, June 5, from 5-9 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Devine. Funeral service held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 6, at Bethel Assembly of God, Devine. Interment in Dilley Catholic Cemetery, Dilley.

Clementine “Clemie” Keller Mechler, 91, of San Antonio, passed away June 9, 2008. She was born Oct. 28, 1916, in Bexar County. The Rosary was recited on Wednesday, June 11, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Funeral Mass celebrated Thursday, June 12, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in La Coste.

Noma A. Weathers Milam was born April 29, 1912, and passed away June 22, 2008, at the age of 96. She was born in Moore where she lived most of her life. Funeral service was held at Wednesday, June 25, 2008, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, Devine. Interment followed in Moore Memorial Cemetery, Moore.

Olivia Henrietta Salzman Nester, age 87, of D’Hanis passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008. Visitation Thursday, June 5, 5-8 p.m. , at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel, Hondo. Rosary recited at 10 a.m., on Friday, June 6, followed by the Funeral Mass, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D’Hanis, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Thomas Jerome Ney passed away at home on May 31, 2008, in Austin. He was born in 1925 in Hondo. Funeral service was held Wednesday, June 4, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Tom was buried alongside other family members in St. John’s
Catholic Cemetery in Hondo.

Brigitte Friedrich Perkins of San Antonio, age 61, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008. Brigitte was born January 15, 1947, in Wurzburg, Germany. Her ashes will be interred at St. Louis Cemetery, Castroville. Memorial service is pending.

John David Pleasant of San Antonio, age 35, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008. John was born on June 16, 1973, in San Antonio. Funeral service was held Tuesday, June 24, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Ross Chandler officiated. Burial was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Allyce Mary Snavely Prentiss, 53, of Strawn, passed away June 13, 2008, in Fort Worth. She was born April 30, 1955, in Denver, CO, and was a 1973 graduate of Medina Valley High School. Rosary was recited Tuesday, June 17, at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. A graveside service was held at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio on Wednesday, June 18.

Antonio Puente Jr., age 22, of Sabinal, died on June 12, 2008, at his residence. He was born on January 4, 1986. Funeral service was held June 14, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sabinal. Interment followed at St. Patrick’s cemetery with Rev. Antonio Hernandez officiating.

Clotilde “Tita” Ramirez, 78, of Idaho Falls, ID, passed away June 21, 2008, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born in Hondo September 27. Funeral service was held Wednesday, June 25, at the LDS Ward Building in Idaho Falls. Burial was in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.

Hondo resident and business owner, Thomas F. Richardson, passed away Saturday morning, June 14, 2008, at his home in Hondo. Visitation at the Guinn- Horger Funeral Home in Hondo, on Thursday, June 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. Graveside funeral service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio Friday, June 20, at 1 p.m.

Courand N. Rothe, M.D., born October 3, 1915, in Medina County (Seco), died in San Antonio, Sunday, June 1, 2008. Funeral mass was Wednesday, June 4, at Our Lady of Grace Church, with interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11 a.m.

Walter Dennis Salazar, age 51, of Devine passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 8, 2008. Funeral service was held in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home in Devine on Thursday, June 12. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery, Devine.

Evelyn Kimmey Smith, age 94, of Mesquite, formerly Hondo, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008. She was born Sept. 11, 1913, in Hondo. Graveside service was held Tuesday, June 10, at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Betty Lou Thigpen of Kyle, beloved and cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away in New Braunfels on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at the age of 76. She was born in Hondo on December 1, 1931. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, June 13, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Kyle, with the Rev. Father Howard Goertz, celebrant. Memorial service was held Saturday, June 14, at the ranch of Don and Marie Tschirhart in Hondo.

Clara Evelyn Thompson, age 84 of Natalia, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008, in San Antonio. Funeral service was conducted Wednesday, June 11, at the First Baptist Church of Natalia, with interment following in Evergreen Cemetery, Devine.

Marvin John Uhl, age 82, of Castroville, passed away June 23, 2008, in Castroville. He was born October 1, 1925, in San Antonio. Funeral service was held Wednesday, June 25, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Interment followed at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Castroville.

Janet “Jan” Marjorie Brown Verstuyft, age 72 of San Antonio, passed away June 10, 2008, at her home. Jan was born August 1, 1935, in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. Visitation Saturday, June 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, Castroville. Funeral service held Sunday, June 15, at 10 a.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Interment at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Elmer John Waterson, age 79, of the Lone Star Corral, Alamo Area SKP Co-Op, Hondo/D’Hanis, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008. Elmer was born October 23, 1928, in Nyack, NY. Memorial service is pending.

Maurice Joseph “Metz” Zerr, age 82, of Hondo passed away Friday, June 13, 2008. He was born Nov. 19, 1925. The Rosary, led by Fr. Dennis Zerr, was recited Monday, June 16, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at the church, with Rev. Ken Dakin officiating. Burial with military honors was at Hondo Cemetery, St. John’s Section.
