Jenaro Aguiñaga, age 80, of Hondo passed away on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005. He was born in D'Hanis on July 10, 1924. The rosary was at 7 pm Sunday, Jan. 30, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m Monday, Jan. 31, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating. Burial was in the Wernette Family Cemetery in D'Hanis.

Erwin Max Biediger, age 87, of Castroville passed away Jan. 15, 2005, in Castroville. Erwin was born Feb. 21, 1917, in Bader Settlement. Mass was held Sunday, Jan. 16, 7 p.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church. Rosary was recited on Monday, Jan. 17, 10 a.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church. Entombment with military honors was at St. Louis Garden Mausoleum in Castroville. Memorials may be given to St. Louis Cemetery or Vista Care Hospice.

Jerry Harold Bradshaw, age 69, of Universal City passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2005. He was born in Anthony, KS, on Dec. 23, 1935. Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at the Hondo
Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Leroy Horace Britsch, age 76, of Hondo went to be with Jesus on Monday, Jan. 24, 2005. He was born in Hondo July 6, 1928. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating. Entombment was in the Hondo Cemetery, St. John Mausoleum.

Daniel Carrillo Sr, age 94, of Hondo passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2005. He was born in Mexico, Jan. 4, 1911. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, led by Epifania Ybarra, and Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at St. John's with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating. Burial was in Yancey Cemetery.

Amelia Molina Cortez, age 89, of D'Hanis, passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005. She was born in Laredo, April 29, 1915. Rosary, beginning at 1 p.m., was followed by the Funeral Mass Saturday, Jan. 22, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial was in the San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Angelina Cubriel, age 87, of Devine passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born in Devine, April 25, 1917. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Jose F. Puente officiating. Interment was in Moore Catholic Cemetery.

Trinidad Cabrera DeLeon, age 83, of Hondo passed away on Friday, Jan. 28, 2005. She was born in Biry, on Oct. 30, 1921. Funeral service was at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, at the Iglesia del Nuevo Testamento with service led by Pastor Ramiro Robles. Procession to the cemetery departed Guinn-Horger Chapel at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, for burial in Yancey Cemetery. Interment service was led by Pastor Johnny Hernandez.

Always a deep believer in symbolism, William Franklin "Bill" Hoover, age 78, passed from this earthly womb of life to what lies beyond on New Year's Day, Jan. 1, 2005. Bill was born on August 29, 1926, in Marietta, PA. Funeral service was held Thursday, Jan. 6, at St. Francis Episcopal Church, beginning at 12 noon. Graveside Military and Masonic services held at Ft. Sam Houston following the church service.

Reynold Richard "Poppie" Keller, age 91, of Castroville, passed away Jan. 4, 2005, in San Antonio. Reynold was born Oct. 14, 1913, in the Saus Community in western Bexar County.   Funeral Mass was held Friday, Jan. 7, 8 p.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church. The Rosary was recited Saturday at 10 a.m., also at the church. Interment at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville followed the
Rosary.

Charles Leo Korbell Sr., of San Antonio passed away on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at the age of 93. Charles was born Dec. 16, 1911, in San Antonio and was raised on a farm in Floresville by his parents.   The family visited with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. and visitation was from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Porter Loring Chapel. A private burial service for the family was held at Holy Cross Cemetery, San Antonio.

Janet Maples was born in Junction on January 1, 1947 and died on January 21, 2005. She had currently lived in Hondo, Texas. Many thanks to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi, Texas for the memorial service held for Janet on Monday, January, 24, 2005, and Unity Church of Austin for the memorial service held on Saturday, January 29, 2005, and all family and friends who aided in the services.

Kyle Edward Muennink, age 86, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005. He was born March 30, 1918, in Hondo. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. Graveside services were at 4 p.m. Jan. 4, at Calvary Hill Cemetery.

Howard Newton, age 89, passed away Jan. 4, 2005, in Hondo. He was born Nov. 28, 1915 in Houston, but spent many of his early years in El Paso. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at First United Methodist Church, Houston, with Dr. Asbury Lenox officiating. Graveside service and committal was in Glenwood Cemetery.

Lela Grace Reily Oefinger was born April 11, 1918, in Hondo. She died Wednesday Jan. 26, 2005, in Medina Community Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral service was held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bert Clayton officiating. Jennifer Stiegler was accompanist and special music was provided by God's Glory and Grace Singers. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Ruie Yates Tondre Perkins, age 92, of Castroville, passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, in San Antonio.
Ruie was born Feb. 14, 1912, in Slater. Graveside service was held on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at 10:15 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.

LCpl Rhonald Dain Rairdan, USMC, age 20, of San Antonio, was killed in the line of duty Jan. 26, 2005, in Iraq. Dain was born April 22, 1984, in Eglin AFB, FL. The family sends their condolences to the other families of the Marines and Corpsman of the C CO 1st BN 3rd Marines 1st Mar Div of Kaneohe Bay, HI, and the aircrew from MCAS Miramar. Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home open for visitation Friday, Feb. 4, from 12 to 8 p.m. The funeral service Saturday, Feb. 5, 9 a.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Following the service, interment with full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio.

After a long illness, Sarah Rohrbach went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005. She was born on June 9, 1916, and lived in Hondo all her life. Visitation was scheduled from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Guinn-Horger Chapel in Hondo Wednesday, Jan. 26. The Rosary and Funeral Mass held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo Thursday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery in D'Hanis.

Ann Strain Rothe was born Feb. 19, 1916, in Colleyville, KS. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Msgr. Lawrence Walsh as celebrant. Interment was at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Frances Ruth Rucker, age 79, passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. She was born in Hondo, Aug. 31, 1925. Frances was cremated as per her wishes and no local service will be held.

Ehme Richard Saathoff, age 89, of D'Hanis passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2005. Funeral service held Friday, Jan. 14, 10 a.m., at Guinn- Horger Chapel with interment at Woodmen of the World Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Baby Ricky Zapata Sanchez Jr. of Hondo, entered into rest on Jan 7, 2005. He is survived by his parents Ricky Zapata Sanchez and Mary Jane Padron; sisters, Alyssa Padron, Jessica Lee and Marih Lee Sanchez; brothers, Enrique P. and Jesse Angel Sanchez; paternal grandparents, Jesus Sanchez and Patricia; maternal grandmother, Ramona Padron. Graveside service was held at Hondo Cemetery, at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10.

Zonell Simpson, age 77, of Castroville died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born in Eastland, Nov. 6, 1927. Visitation was held Wednesday at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service was at 10 am Thursday, Jan. 6, at the Church of Christ in Hondo with George Randall and Frank Helvey officiating. A second visitation was held at the Head Family Funeral Home in Levelland Friday, Jan. 7, followed by burial in Peaceful Gardens Cemetery.

Virginia L. Smith of San Antonio, age 79, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2005. Chapel service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Porter Loring North Chapel with graveside service being at 1:30 p.m. at Pleasanton City Cemetery, with Gary Lange officiating.

Annie Mae Ruston Stevens, age 77, of Natalia passed away Sunday, January 23, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born in Pryor, OK, January 28, 1927. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26 at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Robert L. Nixon Jr. officiating.

James D. "Jim" Vaughan Sr., age 76, died Sunday, January 16, 2005. He was born in Hondo on Dec. 24, 1928. Funeral service was at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Burns officiating. Graveside service was at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Smith School Creek Cemetery near Lampasas.

Rodolfo Villarreal of Hondo, entered into rest on January 15, 2005. Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m., Sunday Jan. 16 at Hondo Funeral Home. Mass was at 11 Monday, at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

W.C. Walker, loving husband, father and grandfather, age 79, passed away at his residence, Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, from complications due to diabetes. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hurley Funeral Chapel. Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Devine.

Daily Blondina Graf Weiser, age 87, of Bigfoot, passed away Monday, January 17, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born in Wilbarger County, Oct. 20, 1917. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Divine Savior Lutheran Church with Rev. Ernest Schoenborn officiating. Interment was in Longview Cemetery.

Jerome John Zinsmeyer, age 77, of Hondo, passed away peacefully and at home, Monday, Jan. 3, 2005. Jerome was born July 5, 1927, in D'Hanis. Rosary was held at St. John's Catholic Church in Hondo at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5th. Funeral service Thursday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m., also at St. John's, with burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery in D'Hanis.
