		Storm ravages farms Friday..... Late Friday afternoon, a storm system moved into the area bringing violent winds and varying sizes of hail. Dime-sized to golf ball-sized hail was reported both north of Hondo as well as into the Quihi area and around Castroville and LaCoste. READ MORE




Warbirds arrive in Hondo tomorrow.... After months of planning, the Hondo Army Air Field Fly-In is nearly here. Beginning tomorrow (Friday), rare Warbirds will appear in the skies above Hondo, circling the town and enticing folks to come to Saturday’s event at South Texas Regional Airport in Hondo. She finished seventh in that event and an hour later, would finish fifth in the 300-meter hurdles. She also represented Hondo at state in the high jump. Luce 5th in 300m hurdles at state meet.... Austin -- Reagan Luce competed in three events Saturday, May 11, at the UIL State Track and Field Meet, scoring points in one of them. Read More



Marlins sweep D’Hanis in area playoff series.... The 2013 baseball season came to an end Saturday evening for the D’Hanis Cowboys, who dropped both games of a Class 1A area playoff series with Port Aransas on May 10-11. Read More



RGC records 2-game sweep of Medina Valley...... The Medina Valley Panthers’ 2013 baseball season ended in a pair of games over the weekend, as they fell to Rio Grande City, 4-2 and 8-4 in the area playoffs. With the region quarterfinal series shortened to a single game because of weather, Corpus Christi Moody steadily dominated on Saturday, May 11, pulling away for a 11-0 softball win over Medina Valley.
