All big time hunters of South Texas wild hogs -- or even rank amateurs -- are invited out this weekend to the 24th Annual Sabinal Lions Club Wild Hog Festival. Whether taking part in the competition, or just watching the action, there’s plenty of other fun, food, contests, shopping and entertainment all weekend long. The main event is at the Sabinal ISD’s Yellowjacket Stadium, with everything else going on at Sabinal City Park, right next door.

City names co-managers until replacement is found....  Council returned from an executive session on Monday and approved a plan to have Assistant City Manager Kim Davis and Public Works Director Eric Salazar co-manage the city until a permanent replacement can be found for outgoing City Manager Jeff Litchfield. Site plan approved for ethanol terminal...  Hondo City Council on Monday approved a site plan for construction of a new ethanol terminal, proposed by Hondo Railway owners Don Lee and Mark Holland.

Council backs golf course upgrade....Hondo Golf Course Superintendent Jerry Busby on Monday reported to City Council on his progress at improving play on the nine hole municipal links and ask for funding of new projects to hopefully boost revenues.  Read More

Easter week services planned....  Churches across the county have provided their schedules for Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday, commemorating the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Hondo Little League’s annual opening day ceremonies are this Saturday morning, March 28....  Recognition of officers and introduction of teams will begin at 8 a.m. at the Hondo Little League fields on Avenue U.
     Games will begin later in the morning in all divisions of play, and will last throughout the day as the 2015 Little League season gets underway.

Cowboys win 3 to stay near top of league chase...  The D’Hanis Cowboys turned in a 3-0 mark in the past week, all in District 30-AA play.
