Oralia Costilla Burell, age 75, of Castroville, passed away August 24, 2006. Oralia was born Oct. 27, 1930, in Thelma. The Funeral Mass was celebrated Sunday, Aug. 27, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. A prayer service was held Monday, also at St. Louis Church. Interment followed in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville.

Nichole Christian, age 39, of Hondo passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2006. She was born Feb. 21, 1967. Funeral arrangements and burial were in Gonzales.

Iris Lee Dalrymple, age 91, of Uvalde passed away August 16, 2006, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. She was born in Uvalde County on July 27, 1915. Graveside services were held Saturday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. in Uvalde Cemetery with Ted McElroy officiating.

George Martin Echtle, Jr., age 82, of La Coste, passed away August 27, 2006, in Floresville. George was born Jan. 28, 1924, in La Coste. A Rosary was recited on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, La Coste. Mass of Resurrection was held on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment followed at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery.

James Andrew “Jim” Gabe-hart of Hondo passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, at the age of 92. He was born in Chickasaw, OK, March 2, 1914. Funeral service was held Wednesday, Aug. 30, 10 a.m., at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi, with Rev. Stephen Schur officiating. Burial was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section, with service led by Pastor Schur and members of Hondo City Masonic Lodge No. 756.

Manuel Trinidad Garcia (La Llanta) of Hondo, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 22, 2006, at the age of 67. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at Hondo Funeral Home. Mass was held Friday, Aug. 25, at St. John’s Catholic Church. Graveside services and interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Margie June Otten Haas, age 72 of Mico, passed away August 11, 2006. Margie was born Dec. 17, 1933, in San Antonio. Prayer Service was held Tuesday, August 15, at the Tondre - Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Graveside service was held Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Margaret G. Habermacher, age 84, of Uvalde passed away August 31, 2006 in Uvalde. She was born Aug. 9, 1922, in San Antonio. A rosary was recited Friday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Memorial services were held Saturday, Sept. 2. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Maria G. Hernandez, 80, of Hondo passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006. She was born Nov. 29, 1925, in Hondo. Rosary was recited Monday, Aug. 21, and Funeral Mass was held Tuesday at 10 a.m., both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Frank Allen “Lucky” Hooker Jr. , age 50, of Midland and formerly of Devine, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2006, at his residence. Funeral services conducted at 11a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. T. Glenn Young officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Devine.

Lillie Mae Jones of San Antonio, Texas, went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2006, at the age of 80. She was born July 5, 1926, in Oil Trough, AR. A graveside service was held Wednesday, August 9, at the Hondo Cemetery, Oak-wood Section.

Emma May Steele Kempf, age 78, of Castroville, passed away Aug. 7, 2006. Emma was born Apr. 3, 1928, in East Hartford, CT. A funeral service held Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at 11:30 a.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Interment at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio. The family suggests memorials may be made to American Lung Association.

Gerald “Gerry” William Kempf, age 73, of Castroville, passed away Aug. 27, 2006. Gerald was born Nov. 14, 1932, in Castroville. The Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Rosary recited Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Entombment at St. Louis Garden Mausoleum, Castroville.

Lee Ann Lopez, age 34, of Devine passed away Friday, August 11, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home in Lytle.

Minnie Martin Nietenhoefer, age 101 years and 10 days, of Hondo went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006. Born July 26, 1905, in Quihi. Pastor David Mayer officiated at the funeral service on Tuesday, Aug. 8, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial followed at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Baby Jason Alejandro Over-street, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 22, 2006, at the age of 43 days. Jason is survived by his parents, Jason Anstraw-Overstreet and Jackie Overstreet. Graveside services and interment were held Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, in Hondo Cemetery.

Marvin Joe Robertson, age 64, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, after a two-year battle with brain cancer. He was born July 11, 1942, in Hondo. Funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 19, 10 a.m., at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi, with Pastor Stephen Schur officiating. Interment was at Quihi Cemetery.

Angeline Ryke, age 91, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2006. She was born on April 17, 1915, in Otley, Iowa. Funeral service held on Thursday, August 10 at 11 a.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels. Interment in Mission Burial Park South.

O.J. “Butzie” Steubing was born Feb. 8, 1929 in San Antonio. He went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at the age of 77. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 21, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi, with Pastor Stephen Schur officiating. Interment was in Quihi Cemetery.

Richard Donvan Winters Jr. of Gladewater, formerly of Hondo, passed away July 27, 2006. He was born July 28, 1946. A Memorial service was held August 12 at Union Grove Baptist Church in Gladewater with Pastor Michael Heim officiating.
