Guadalupe G. Campo, age 54, of Hondo, passed away Aug. 14, 2002, in San Antonio. He was born in Hondo, April 1, 1948. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16 at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Vincent Fecher officiating. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Jared David Carter, age 86, of Lytle passed away Sept. 2, 2002. He was born in Killeen, Aug. 18, 1916. Graveside service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Blackhill Cemetery, led by Ralph Beaty, minister.

Leonardo Nino Castro

Leonardo Nino Castro, age 81, of Devine passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, in Devine. He was born in Somerset, June 28, 1921. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church with Father Romero Olivares officiating. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Marie Tillie Van Overdenborger - De Cock

Marie Tillie Van Overdenborger - De Cock, age 88, was born Aug. 26, 1914, and was born to eternal life on her birthday, Aug. 26, 2002. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, and Funeral Mass was offered at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church. Interment followed at San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery No. 2.

Alvin Gerhard Dornbusch

Alvin Gerhard Dornbusch, of Knippa died on Aug. 11, 2002, at the age of 88 years. He was born on Oct. 15, 1913. Funeral service was held Aug. 16, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Knippa with Pastor Daryl Knox officiating.

Walter J. Etter

Walter J. Etter, age 88, of Castroville passed away Aug. 10, 2002, in Hondo. Walter was born Aug. 19, 1913 in La Coste. Visitation was Tuesday, Aug. 13, and Rosary was led by Deacon Gene Ebner at 7 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Chapel. The Funeral Mass was celebrated by Msgr. Albert Hubertus Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, followed by interment at St. Louis Cemetery.

Lucille Nora Evans, age 92, of Devine passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002. She was born Dec. 23, 1909, in Devine. A graveside service was held Thursday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.

John Craig Farnan (Sullivan)

John Craig Farnan (Sullivan) died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2002, from injuries incurred in an automobile accident in Medina County. He was born at Nellis Air Force Base, NV, on Sept. 4, 1961.

Rosa A. Flores of Hondo, age 91, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, in Hondo. She was born in Mexico Aug. 30, 1910. Rosary was recited Monday, Aug. 19, 7 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, 10 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Velma Fritz

Velma Fritz, age 81, of Greenwood, LA, entered eternal rest on Aug. 10, 2002, in Greenwood. Velma was born on May 8, 1921, in Huckabay. Service was held in San Antonio on August 13, 2002.

Lyndal Sue Goin

Lyndal Sue Goin, age 69, of West Columbia, formerly of Hondo, passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, in Lake Jackson. She was born in Flora on Oct. 3, 1932. Arrangements were by Baker Funeral Home, West Columbia.

Rosa F. Gonzalez, age 88, of Hondo passed away, Aug. 10, 2002, in San Antonio. She was born in Eagle Pass, Sept. 1, 1913. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, led by Fannie Ibarra. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, both at St. John's Catholic Church. Rev. Jeff Pehl officiated. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

James Frank Greer

James Frank Greer of Hondo, formerly of Mathis, passed away August 5, 2002, at the age of 86. A graveside service was held at 11 am Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Seaside Memorial Park, Corpus Christi.

Kayleigh Brook Hernandez

Kayleigh Brook Hernandez, age 7 months, formerly of Hondo, passed away Aug. 11, 2002, in San Antonio. She was born Dec. 17, 2001, in San Antonio. Survivors include her mother Meagan Noel Oliver of San Antonio; father, Jason Scott Hernandez of San Antonio; grand -parents, Pamela and Bob Lewis of Hondo, and Olivia and Lamar Malone of Yancey; great- grandmothers, Katherine Quirk of San Antonio and Olivia Zapata of San Antonio; six aunts and uncles. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Church of Christ, Hondo, led by Frank Perkins. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Stella Jackson, age 95, of Devine passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, in Lytle. She was born in San Antonio, Mar. 23, 1907. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Lytle United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Martin officiating. Interment was in San Fernando Cemetery #3.

Elodia M. Jimenez, age 70, of Lytle passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2002. She was born in Lytle Oct. 22, 1931. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at St. Andrews Catholic Church with Father Romeo Olivares officiating. Interment followed in Lytle Community Cemetery.

Dr. George Augustas Knaggs

Dr. George Augustas Knaggs of Devine entered eternal rest Aug. 13, 2002, at the age of 85, in Lytle. He was born July 25, 1917. The funeral service was held Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, in Devine. Interment followed in the Cotulla Cemetery with the Rev. Canon R. Wright
officiating.

Funeral Home with Revs. Sammie Maxwell, Ryan Seawright, Jack Lamb and Dennis Short officiating. Interment followed at a later date at Confidence
Methodist Church Cemetery.

Vaughn Manning

Vaughn Manning, age 87, of Bigfoot passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, at his residence. Vaughn served in both World War II and the Korean War. He retired from
the U.S. Army in 1963 as CWO4. Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at Fort Sam Houston
National Cemetery with full military honors.

Jane Edith Marek, age 45, of Devine passed away Aug. 26, 2002. She was born Dec. 10, 1958, in San Antonio.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Devine. Pastor Janice Petty officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Maria de Jesus Marmolejo

Maria de Jesus Marmolejo of Hondo, formerly of Eagle Pass, passed away August 23, 2002, at the age of 58.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Aug. 28, in Castroville with interment following in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Alfred Masur

Alfred Masur, age 74, of Atascosa passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, in San Antonio. He was born in San Antonio, Sept. 27, 1927. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tom McAnulty officiating. Interment was in Bexar Cemetery, Somerset.

John William McGuffin

John William McGuffin, age 81, died August 21, 2002, in San Antonio. He was born June 3, 1921, in Llano. Funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 24, at 1 p.m. at Ebensberger Funeral Home in Boerne with Rev. Larry Martinez officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Smith Cemetery in Bergheim.

Irma Haby Biediger Moak

Irma Haby Biediger Moak, age 93, of Castroville passed away August 21, 2002, at the Wilford Hall Medical Center. She was born Dec. 16, 1908, in the Haby Settlement near Rio Medina. Visitation was held Friday, Aug. 23, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a Rosary, led by Fr. Jim Conway, recited at 7 p.m. at the Tondre- Guinn Funeral Home. The Mass of Resurrection was concelebrated by Fr. Jim Conway and Msgr. George Stuebben, Saturday, Aug. 24, at 9 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville.

Mamie Lee Moody

Mamie Lee Moody, age 73, of Devine passed away in Angleton, Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002. She was born in San Antonio, Feb. 28, 1929. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Johnny Melancon officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.

George Lee Moore

George Lee Moore, age 41, of Sabinal passed away Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002. He was born April 23, 1961, in Houston. A funeral service was held Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel, Sabinal, at 3:00 p.m. Interment followed in the Waresville Cemetery in Utopia. Rev. Robert Richarz officating.

Diamonique Skye Rodriguez

Diamonique Skye Rodriguez, age 4, of D'Hanis passed away Aug. 8, 2002, in San Antonio. She was born in Hondo, Sept. 4, 1997. Survivors include her parents, Anthony Guy and Angelita Rodriguez; sister, Destiny Summer Rodriguez; brother, Anthony Solomon Rodriguez; paternal grandparents, Abel and Adelina Rodriguez; and maternal grandparents, Victor and Angelita Sauceda, all of D'Hanis. Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, and Funeral Mass was at 10
a.m. Monday, Aug. 12. Both services were at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Wallis J. Stiles officiating. Interment was in San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Johnny Rodriguez Sr.

Johnny Rodriguez Sr. passed away Monday, August 5, 2002, in a San Antonio hospital. He was born. May 16, 1943, in Hondo. Rosary was recited, Thursday, August 8, at 7:30 p.m., at Grimes Chapel in Bandera. Funeral Mass was held Friday, Aug. 9, at 10:00 a.m., at
St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with Father Stanley Oleksy officiating. Interment followed in the Hondo Cemetery.

Peggy E. Rollans

Peggy E. Rollans, age 62, passed away at her home in San Angelo on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002. Peggy was born in Rotan on May 5, 1940, and grew up in Roby. The family received visitors at Johnson's Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 28. Graveside service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Lawnhaven Memorial Garden with Rev. Lakan Marions of College Hills Baptist Church
presiding.

Albert Walter Schmiz Jr.

Albert Walter Schmiz Jr. passed away Aug. 9, 2002, in Kerrville. He was born Dec. 16, 1936. Albert served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years achieving the rank of Chief
Petty Officer. He was a Vietnam veteran, a "frogman" and a member of the Blue Angels parachuting team, the "Chuting Stars".

Sarah Elizabeth Schneider

Sarah Elizabeth Schneider passed away August 31, 2002. She was born on April 12, 1919, in Bardstown, KY. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, and Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Vernell Sibley

Vernell Sibley, age 77, of Hondo passed away August 13, 2002, in San Antonio. She was born in Hondo October 12, 1924. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at New Fountain United Methodist Church, Hondo. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Park, San Antonio. Both services were officiated by Dr. Wm. Truede.

Terry Lynn Squyres

Terry Lynn Squyres, age 57, of Devine passed away in San Antonio, Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002. She was born in Yoakum, Oct. 29, 1944. Mr. Squyres was a member of First Baptist Church, Devine. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Glenn Young officiating. Interment was in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

John Paul Vasquez Jr.

John Paul Vasquez Jr., 11/2-month-old infant son of John Paul and Maria Vasquez, passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, in a San Antonio hospital. He was born June 26, 2002, in San Antonio. Survivors include his parents, John Paul and Maria Lopez Vasquez of
Lytle; sister, Virginia Nicole Vasquez of Rockport; paternal grandparents, Maria Helmers of Rankin, Richard Vasquez of Dallas; maternal grandparents,
Maria Alcorta Lopez of Lytle, Manuel G. Lopez of San Antonio; maternal great-grandfather, Hipolita Alcorta of San Antonio; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Graveside service and interment was held Wednesday,
Aug. 14, at 2 p.m. at the Lytle Community Cemetery, led by Fr. Olivares.

Esperanza A. Velazquez

Esperanza A. Velazquez, age 71, of Devine passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, in San Antonio. She was born in Mexico, Oct. 27, 1930. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at St. Joseph's
Catholic Church with Msgr. Adolfo Valdivia-Aguirre officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Walter A. Weynand

Walter A. Weynand, 81, born in Hondo on January 27, 1921, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2002, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Funeral service was Saturday, Aug. 31, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in San Antonio where he had been a long time member. The Rev. Michael Chalk officiated.

Clarence H. Wolff, age 91, of D'Hanis passed away Aug. 8, 2002, in Castroville. He was born in San Antonio, June 23, 1911. Funeral service was at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Guinn-Horger Chapel with Dr. Paul Kacsur officiating. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, D'Hanis.
