Jacob H. Benavides, son of a City of Devine police officer, was killed in a car accident Saturday April 6, 2002. He was born May 29, 1980, to Benny and Kandy Benavides. Funeral service was held Wednesday, Apr. 10, 2002, at the Black Creek
Baptist Church. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.

Jennie Selfridge Byrom

Jennie Selfridge Byrom, age 93, of Lytle passed away April 5, 2002, at Georgetown Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 2, 1908, in the Arbuckle Mountains of Springer, OK. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Apr. 8, in the Lytle United Methodist Church. Interment followed in Lytle Masonic Cemetery.

Robert Henry Clements

Robert Henry Clements, age 87, of Hondo passed away, April 25, 2002. He was born Nov. 16, 1914, in Hondo.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Hondo Church of Christ with Frank Perkins, George Randall and Robert Kelley officiating. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Olga Catherine Conrad

Olga Catherine Conrad, age 89, of Devine, passed away on April 12, 2002, in Hondo. She was born January 2, 1913, in La Coste. The rosary and Mass of Resurrection were held Monday, April 15, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville, with Fr. Jim Conway
officiating. Entombment was in St. Louis Garden Mausoleum.

John E. (J.E.) Fargason Jr.

John E. (J.E.) Fargason Jr., age 86, of Moore passed away Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Medina Community Hospital in Hondo. He was born Dec. 31, 1915,
in Dallas. Funeral service was held Monday, April 22, at 10 a.m. in Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Duane Young officiating. Interment followed in Moore Memorial Cemetery, Moore.

Bradley Wayne Freeman

Bradley Wayne Freeman, age 32, of La Coste passed away April 29, 2002, in Bexar County. Bradley was born October 24, 1969, at Lackland AFB. Bradley was cremated. No services are planned at this time.

Dustin Matthew Gobert

Dustin Matthew Gobert, age 15, was killed in an automobile accident on Tuesday, Apr. 2, 2002. He was born on Apr. 20, 1986, in Baytown. A graveside service was held on Thursday Apr. 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Cemetery, Utopia. The service was conducted by Rev. Jimmy Linn.

Maria G. Hernandez Gonzales

Maria G. Hernandez Gonzales, age 90, of D'Hanis passed away Tuesday, Apr. 2, 2002, in Hondo. She was born July 30, 1911, in D'Hanis. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Apr. 3, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D'Hanis. Funeral Mass was held Thursday, Apr. 4, at 10 a.m. at the church, followed by interment in San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis with Fr. W. Stiles officiating each service.

Alvin H. Hardt

Alvin H. Hardt, age 93, died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Hardt was a native of Hondo. His parents were the late Henry Lee Hardt and Katherine Leinweber Hardt. He married a Nashville native, Laurie Phillips, in 1922 and moved to Washington, D.C. where he worked for the
Central Intelligence Agency. He served as head of the printing division there for many years, retiring to Shelbyville in 1970. He served in the Army in World War II and was a member of the American Legion.

Christopher Mark Heinlein

Christopher Mark Heinlein, age 33, of Hondo passed away Sunday, April 7, 2002, at his home. He was born Jan. 5, 1969, in Woodbury, NJ. Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Dawson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tony Hoult officiating.

Daniel Emil Keller

Daniel Emil Keller, age 89, of Rio Medina passed away Friday, April 26, 2002, in Lytle. Daniel was born Oct. 13, 1912, in La Coste. Mass of Resurrection was offered Sunday, April 28, at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. The rosary was recited Monday, April 29, at 10 a.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the St. Louis Garden Mausoleum in St. Louis Cemetery.

CWO Melvin Travis Lewis

CWO Melvin Travis Lewis, (U.S.A.F. retired) age 81, of Air Force Village II, San Antonio, passed away Apr. 2, 2002, in San Antonio. He was born April 26, 1920, in Bernice, LA. A memorial graveside service was held Friday, April 5, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, with full military honors by the
U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Rev. Bob Scott officiated.

Connie Jo Stroud Lyons

Connie Jo Stroud Lyons of Dickinson, formerly of Devine, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2002, in Galveston at the age of 56. She was born in San Antonio, Mar. 30, 1946.
Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, in Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Ron Page officiating.

Federico Martinez Jr., age 47, of Castroville passed away April 21, 2002, in San Antonio. He was born July 3, 1954, in San Antonio. Rosary was led by Deacon Gene Ebner, Tuesday, April 23, 7 p.m., at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection was offered by Msgr. Thomas Palmer Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. lnterment was in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Helen McMillan

Helen McMillan, age 85, of Lytle passed away Sunday, April 14, 2002, in San Antonio. She was born in Gonzales, Jan. 10, 1917. Graveside service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Scott Martin officiating.

Kimber Lynn Moore

Kimber Lynn Moore, age 14, of Utopia was killed in an automobile accident on Tuesday, Apr. 2, 2002. She was born Aug. 12, 1987, in Uvalde. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Apr. 4, at Jones Cemetery in Utopia. The service was conducted by Bro. Jimmy Lynn. A private interment will be held at Vanderpool Cemetery, Vanderpool.

Mary Louise Noonan died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at the age of 91. Rosary was recited Friday at 7 p.m. at the Angelus Chapel. Funeral Mass was offered at 9 a.m. Saturday, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Castroville.
Interment followed in St. Louis Cemetery.

Funeral service was held Thursday, April 4, 2002, at the Lytle United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Scott Martin officiating. Interment followed at Lytle Community Cemetery.

Ernesto Reyes, age 85, of Atascosa passed away Saturday, April 13, 2002, in San Antonio. He was born in Von Ormy, Nov. 7, 1916. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 15, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church with Father Romeo Olivares officiating. Interment was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Somerset.

Alice Magdalena Bohl Salzman

Alice Magdalena Bohl Salzman, age 87, a lifelong resident of La Coste passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2002, in Castroville. Alice was born Oct. 23, 1914,
in La Coste. Rosary was led by Msgr. Thomas Palmer, Wednesday, Apr. 24, at 7 p.m. Mass of Resurrection was offered by Fr. John Mannion, Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
Both services were at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment followed in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery.

Florence Beatriz Shaw, age 98, past away on April 9, 2002. She born on Nov. 5, 1903, in Castroville. Visitation was held on Friday April 12, 2002, from 6 until 9 p.m. at
Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, 1700 S.E. Military Dr., San Antonio. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the First Baptist Church in Natalia with Rev. Duane Mayberry and Rev. Richard F. Page
Sr. officiating. Interment followed at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwook Section.

Christopher Jon Smith, age 19, went into his Savior's arms on Tuesday, April 30, 2002, in Devine. Service for Christopher was held at Concordia Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Friday, May 3. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery, Devine.

Evelyn Marie Sollock

Evelyn Marie Sollock, age 69, of Devine passed away Thursday, April 4, 2002, in Devine. She was born in Black Creek, Oct. 7, 1932. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Apr. 8, at First Baptist Church with Bro. Earl Willis and Bro. John Bishop officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
