Josephine Bell Fordtran Bain, passed away January 30, 2012.
She was born October 3, 1922, in San Antonio.
Funeral service was Feb. 6 at the First Baptist Church in Devine.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Within four days of wife (above) Josephine’s passing, Frank Leslie Bain, Sr., went home to be with her and their Lord February 3, 2012.
He was born November 10, 1919.
Funeral service was Feb. 6 at First Baptist Church in Devine.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Maj. Alexander “Alex” Barrientes, age 60, of San Antonio passed away, Jan. 27, 2012, after years of battling with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born in Hondo May 21, 1951.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 1 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Barbara L. Fernandez Carrillo, age 32 of Moore, passed away January 8, 2012, in San Antonio.
Funeral service was January 11 at the First Baptist Church in Devine.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Juanita M. Cortez; age 92 of Hondo, passed on to be with our Lord Jan. 30, 2012.
Visitation Thursday, Feb. 2, from 5-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m.

Vito “Vic” Fortunato Castiglione was born July 9, 1924, in San Antonio.
He entered into rest peacefully January 27, 2012, with his family at his side.
Mass of Resurrection was celebrated Jan. 31 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville.
Interment was in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Juan C. Gonzales, age 78 of Hondo, passed on to be with our Lord January 17, 2012.

Albert Henry Grothues, age 85 of Von Ormy, passed away Jan. 27, 2012, at home.
He was born Dec. 18, 1926, in San Antonio.

Frank James “Jimmy” Haby, age 88 of Castroville, passed away at home January 23, 2012.
He was born June 30, 1923, in Castroville.

Clyde W. “Bud” Johnson, age 85 of Hondo, passed away Jan. 10, 2012.
He was born Feb. 7, 1926 in Hot Springs, AR.
Rosary was recited and Funeral Mass celebrated Jan. 16, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Entombment was at Hondo Cemetery, St. John Mausoleum.

Dale Edward Klaeger, age 59 of Hondo/Biry, passed away at his home January 10, 2012.
He was born Nov. 5, 1952, in Alice.
Memorial service at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13, at New Fountain United Methodist Church.

Rafaela “Rachel” Leal, age 62, passed away at home January 15, 2012, in Yancey.
She was born October 16, 1949, in Campwood.
Memorial services were held Jan. 18 at Hondo Funeral Home.

Eduardo Lopez Jr. went to be with his Lord January 21, 2012, at the age of 84.
He was born October 1, 1927, in Sarita, TX.
Prayer service was offered Jan. 24 at Somerset Baptist Church.
Funeral service was Jan. 25 in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home.
Interment was in Frio County Cemetery, Pearsall.

Angelita V. Luna, age 89 of Hondo, passed away January 10, 2012.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. at Hondo Funeral Home, with a 7 p.m. Rosary Thursday, Jan. 12.
Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo.

Leroy Wallace Lutz was born September 6, 1929, in Hondo.
He died January 13, 2012, at home, surrounded by his family.

Tamera Jean George Ricord, age 52, of Devine, left this earth for her new home in heaven January 20, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Freer July 5, 1959.
Visitation Thursday, Jan. 26, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, 2-9 p.m.
Funeral services held at Black Creek Baptist Church on Friday, January 27, at 10:00 a.m., under the direction of Hurley Funeral Home, with Pastor Stan Harvey officiating.

Ida Meda Balzen Saathoff, age 92 of Hondo, passed away January 28, 2012, in Castroville.
She was born March 11, 1919, in Castroville.

Evelyn Lucille Schott, 99, was called home to be with her heavenly Father January 4, 2012.
“Babe,” as she was fondly known to her relatives, was born in Castroville October 26, 1912.

Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated Jan. 7 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, San Antonio.
Interment was in Mission Burial Park North.

Joe Hilary Sittre Jr., age 86, of Rio Medina, passed away January 4, 2012, in Castroville.
He was born February 16, 1925, at home, near Castroville.

Graham Smoot of D’Hanis passed away, Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at the age of 75.
(His obituary was published Dec. 1, 2011, but services were not set at that time.)

Clifford Leroy Sowell Sr., age 70 of Devine, passed away January 19, 2012, in San Antonio.

Maj. Allan R. Spinney, age 77, passed away peacefully January 21, 2012, surrounded by family at home in New Braunfels.
He was born July 4, 1934 in Flint, MI.
Funeral services were Jan. 28 at Zoeller Funeral Home with Deacon Ben Wehman officiating.
A private interment service with full military honors was held in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

TracAn Marie Cook Thienpont was called home by the Lord Jan. 10, 2012, at the age of 44.

On January 17, our Heavenly Father called home his son, David Treviño, age 84 of D’Hanis.
He was born October 21, 1927, in D’Hanis.

Interment was at San Francisco Cemetery, D’Hanis.

Patricia C. Wagner, age 60 of Devine, passed away Jan. 13, 2012, at home.

Adeline Marie Krenmueller Weber, age 94 of Hondo, passed away January 10, 2012.
She was born Aug. 21, 1917, in Dunlay.

Alex George Wendland Jr., age 81 of Hondo, passed away January 9, 2012.
He was born October 1, 1930, in Hondo.

Allen Jack “Pappy” Winkler, passed away January 12, 2012 in Hondo at the age of 89.

Thomas Wyper Jr., age 90 of Devine, passed away January 9, 2012, in Devine.
Funeral service was Jan. 12 in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Baby David Victor Ybarra, age 0 of Hondo, passed on to be with our Lord Jan. 20, 2012.
He is survived by his parents, Samuel Ybarra and Samantha Alvarez.

James Henry “Jim” Young, age 87 of rural Sabinal, passed away January 22, 2012.
He was born in Barnsdall, OK, on February 4, 1924.
Memorial service at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, at Sabinal Methodist Church.
Lunch reception held preceding the service, at the fellowship hall at 12:30 p.m.

She was born in Traverse City, MI, October 4, 1942.

Sister Frederick Joseph Pirotina, age 90, a Sister of Divine Providence, entered eternal life February 19, 2012.
The Rosary and wake were February 22.

He was born April 23, 1971, in Hobbs.

Frank Castanuela “Pancho” Sandoval Jr. was born in Melvin, TX, Jan. 9, 1956.
He ended his battle with cancer Feb. 27, 2012.
The Rosary was recited March 4, and funeral services were March 5, at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Father Hilary officiated.
Burial was in Melvin Cemetery.

Doris Mae “Mema” Tubbs Skopal was born October 28, 1923, in Lynchburg, TX.
She passed away February 26, 2012.
Graveside services were March 1 in Victoria at Memory Gardens.
A memorial service was held March 3, at New Fountain United Methodist Church.

Lawrence Allen “Larry” Sweet passed away in Kerrville February 9, 2012.
He was born Aug. 3, 1926 in Denver, CO.

Col. Arthur Dewin “Art” Williams, age 92 of Hondo, passed away peacefully Feb. 11, 2012.
He was born July 4, 1919, in Frankfort, MI.

He was born Sept. 5, 1984. Memorial service was held at Trinity Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012 with Rev. Burr Dobbins officiating. Galdino Loera, age 80 of Hondo, passed away Thursday, Mar. 22, 2012.
He was born April 18, 1931, in Matehula, San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

Hampton “Tony” Brown Mauze Jr. passed away March 29, 2012.
He was born March 4, 1959, in San Antonio.

Joseph Taylor Nunley, age 22, of Sabinal and his brother, Thomas, died tragically July 28, 2012, in an automobile accident after lunch en route to their Coyote Ranch near Sabinal.

John Peter Nettelfield, 78, a businessman in the field of biotechnology, and his wife, Jean Smith Nettelfield, 70, an educator, both of San Antonio, died in Ramsey, MN, Sept.1, 2012.
The Nettelfields were struck by a car while crossing a street in Ramsey, where they were staying overnight en route back to Texas after visiting family in Canada.
John was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1934.

Jill Marie Solomon, age 61 of Devine, passed away December 12, 2012, at home.
Celebration of life 6 p.m. Friday, December 21, in the Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church, Devine.
No visitation and no other services are scheduled at this time.

Catharina Wilhelmina Koster Trapp, age 81, of Hondo passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012.
She was born Feb. 4, 19 31, in Occupied Holland.
Graveside service 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.

Jesus Valdez, age 63, passed on to be with our Lord Dec. 18, 2012.
The Rosary was recited Dec. 20 at Hondo Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church Dec. 21.
Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Devine.


Laura Jane Wiemers Wentz, age 79 of Hondo, passed from this life to her eternal home in heaven Dec. 8, 2012.
She was born December 10, 1932, at the family farm, seven miles northeast of Hondo in
 the Vandenburg Community.
Funeral service was Dec. 12 at New Fountain United Methodist Church.
Interment was in New Fountain Cemetery.

Ruth Margaret Whitaker, age 77, passed away December 26, 2012,
She was born Feb. 18, 1935, in Jacksonville, FL.
Funeral was December 29 at Hurley Funeral Home.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Devine.

Matthew Thomas Whitley, age 31 of Devine, passed away December 28, 2012, at home.
The Rosary was recited at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Jan. 2.
Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Graveside services and interment held at a later date.

Ervin L. Willard, 73, a career professional with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, passed away at home in Uvalde December 1, 2012, following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was born November 22, 1939, in Aberdeen.
A memorial service to celebrate his life was held Dec. 4, at the First Baptist Church in Uvalde.

Antoinette Wofford, 81 of Moore, passed away Dec. 27, 2012.
She was born July 31, 1931 in Pearsall.
Graveside services were Dec. 29 at Moore Cemetery.
