Guadalupe A. Alvarez, age 66, of Hondo passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, after battling cancer. He was born Dec. 12, 1940, in Medina County. Rosary was recited Thursday, Jan. 25, and Funeral Mass was held at 2 p.m., Friday, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Aaron Anthony Benavidez, age 22, of Devine, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, in San Antonio. Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 19, from 2 - 9 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m., at the Chapel of Hurley Funeral Home, Devine. Mass was celebrated Saturday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Devine. Interment followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Devine.

Esteban Arcos Bernal Jr. of Hondo, age 66, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2007. He was born in Hondo on February 2, 1940. The Rosary was recited on Sunday, Jan. 7, and Funeral Mass was held Monday, Jan. 8, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Lee Anne Riff Bollich, 56, of Mont Belvieu, TX was born April 25, 1950, in Hondo and passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, in a local hospital. At her request, she was cremated and her cremains will be scattered on the home ranch in Hondo where she was raised. Navarre Funeral Home, Baytown

Pedro “Pete” Campos, Jr., age 69, of Hondo passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2006, at his home. He was born in Hondo, Dec. 5, 1937. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 21, and Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Esther Amador led the Rosary and Rev. Jeff Pehl officiated the Mass.

Edna Coffey, age 82, died on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, in Kerrville. She was born on Dec. 19, 1924, in Jack County, Texas. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera, with Pastor Gerald Harvey, officiating. Burial was in the Tarpley Cemetery, Tarpley.

John Oliver Duane Coyle, age 71, of Hondo passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, in San Antonio. John was born Dec. 26, 1935, in Corpus Christi. A memorial service, led by Pastor C. Ross Chandler was held at the First Baptist Church of Hondo on Monday, Jan. 15 at 2 p.m.

Malford Gloria Andrews Coyle, age 79, of Hondo, passed away Jan. 15, 2007. Malford was born Aug. 22, 1927, in San Antonio. Rosary was recited Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007 at 7 p.m at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home in Hondo. The Funeral Mass held on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment following the Funeral Mass at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Hondo.

Lloyd J. Fowler, of Devine, passed away January 18, 2007, at the age 85. He was born Nov. 6, 1921 in Somerset. Graveside service was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Evergreen Cemetery, Devine, with Rev. Jim Witt officiating.

Armine Franks, age 90, a resident of Chapel Hill, passed away in Richardson on January 23, 2007. She was born Nov. 21, 1916 in Quihi. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday Jan. 26, at the funeral home. Chapel services were held at 10:30 Saturday, Jan. 27, at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Ford officiating.

James Campbell “Jimmy” Gray, age 89, of Hondo passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007. He was born in Uvalde May 10, 1917. Funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 8, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Burial was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

J. W. Grimes, age 74, of La Coste, passed away Jan. 29, 2007 at his home. J. W. was born April 9, 1932, in Tuscaloosa, AL. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. A Private Interment was held at San Fernando #3 Cemetery, San Antonio. Margaret Elizabeth Henry, age 80, of Nocona, passed away January 28, 2007 in Fort Worth. She was born in Hondo, Feb. 12, 1926. Scott-Morris Funeral Home, Nocona.

Edwin Lilie Jr. of Sabinal, passed away on January 10, 2007 in Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 76. He was born October 25, 1930 in Moulton. Services were held Saturday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m. at the Rushing- Estes-Knowles Chapel, with Pastor Don Snyder officiating. Burial followed in Sabinal Cemetery.

Joel Henry Mayer, age 80, of Payson, AZ, passed away January 31, 2007, in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. He was born in Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh, India, July 9, 1926. The funeral was held in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India on Sunday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m. Burial next to his father and brother David. His wife’s ashes are also in India.

Felipe C. Mendoza, age 62, of Atascosa, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, in San Antonio. Visitation and Rosary were held Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007. Mass was celebrated Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at 10 a.m. , at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Lytle.

Margarito Morales, age 87, of Natalia, passed away January 22, 2007. He was born May 10, 1919 in Coal Mine. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, Natalia with Father Romeo Olivares officiating. Interment followed in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Devine.

Floyd B. Neuman, age 81, of Devine, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, in a San Antonio hospital from complication following surgery. Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Devine at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007 with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery in Devine. Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, from 2:00 until 9:00 PM at the Chapel of Hurley Funeral Home, Devine.

Jose M. Ortega, age 69, of Hondo passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007. He was born in D’Hanis, March 19, 1937. Rosary was recited Friday, Jan. 26, and Funeral Mass, celebrated by Rev. Jeff Pehl, was held Saturday, 11 a.m., both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hondo. Interment was at San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Luisa R. Ortiz, of Moore, age 93, passed away January 22, 2007, in Pearsall. She was born in Bigfoot, August 25, 1913. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were Friday at 10 a.m. Jan. 26 At St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment followed in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery at Devine, with Father Jose Puente officiating.

Baby Angel Nevaeh Pina-Lopez of Hondo, passed away on January 30, 2007. Survivors include her parents, Cathy Pina and Steven Lopez; grandparents, Goldie Pina Buben Gallardo and Joan Garcia. Funeral service was held Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. at Hondo Funeral Home. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Deborah Annette Rodriguez-Furnish, age 37, of Hondo passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. Rosary was recited Wednesday at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 25, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Yancey, with Rev. Wallis J. Stiles officiating. Interment in Yancey Cemetery.

Felipe R. Sandoval, age 80 of Hondo passed away on January 24, 2007. Prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Friday, at Hondo Funeral home. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. , Saturday, Jan. 27 at Hondo Funeral Home. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Thomas Rodney St. Clair of Devine, passed away January 25, 2007, at the age of 76. He was born in Crosscut on February 14. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at First Baptist Church, Devine and interment will be at Karnes City Cemetery, Karnes City at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Victoria Tellez, age 79, of Devine, passed away January 26, 2007 in Jourdanton. She was born in Cotulla on Nov. 17, 1928. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 in Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Dennis officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Devine.

Lorene Schott Tschirhart, age 92, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2006, at her rural Hondo home. She was born in Lakehills, Oct. 2, 1914. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel, officiated by Rev. Stephen Schur of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi. Interment followed at Pipe Creek Cemetery.

Floyd Ward, age 84, of Hondo passed away on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007. Floyd and twin sister, Florine, were born in Yancey, Oct. 19, 1922. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 16, 10 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Pastor Lenard Dossey of First Baptist Church of Yancey and Pastor David J. Mayer of St. Paul officiated.

Robert E. Woodson, passed away Jan. 27, 2007. He was born April 3, 1933. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at 11a.m. at the Chapel of Hurley Funeral Home, Lytle. Interment will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Rosa A. Alcaraz, age 78, of Hondo passed away February 18, 2007. Rosary was held on Thursday, Feb. 21 at Hondo Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Johns Catholic Church on Thursday, Feb. 22. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Selma Marie Haby Beck, age 99, of Rio Medina, passed away Feb. 8, 2007, in San Antonio. Selma was born Oct. 9, 1907 in Rio Medina. Funeral Mass was celebrated Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Rosary was held Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment followed at St. Louis Cemetery in Castroville.

Dr. Robert P. Dominguez, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully on Monday February 26, 2007, at the age of 80. He was born in Hondo on June 1, 1926. Rosary recited on Thursday, Mar. 1, at the Angelus Chapel. Funeral Mass was offered on Friday, Mar. 2, at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Interment followed at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.

Della Peter DuBose, age 86, of Atascosa, passed away Feb. 10, 2007, in Atascosa. Della was born Jan. 18, 1921 in San Antonio. A Rosary was held Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Macdona. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Macdona. Interment followed at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in La Coste.

Norma Crooks Forester, age 86, of Castroville, passed away February 26, 2007, in San Antonio. Norma was born Jan. 15, 1921, in Richmond, VA. Visitation will be Friday, Mar. 2, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be held on Friday, Mar. 2, at noon at the Moore Cemetery in Moore. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Salome A. Gallegos, Jr. age 96, passed away in Pearsall, on Feb. 7, 2007, He was 96 years old. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home in Devine, with Father Jose F. Puente officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Devine.

Maria Sylvia (Gonzales) Gonzales, age 58, of D'Hanis passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at her home. Sylvia was born in Hondo Dec. 5, 1948. Funeral Mass was on Feb. 20 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D'Hanis, with Fr. Wallis J. Stiles officiating both services. Interment was at San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Betty Jane (Nabors) Haile, age 78, of rural Hondo passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007. She was born May 9, 1928, in San Antonio. Funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 14, at New Fountain United Methodist Church. Interment was at Mission Park North Cemetery, San Antonio. Rev. Charlie Parker officiated both services.

Josefina “Fina” (Perez) Hernandez, age 80, of Hondo passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, after her struggle with cancer. She was born in Hondo Feb. 15, 1926. Visitation and prayer service was held Monday, Feb. 12, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Primera Iglesia Bautista Mexicana. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Joseph William Koch, born on Oct. 4, 1919, in D'Hanis, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 13, 2007, in San Antonio. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, with Msgr. Michael O'Gorman officiating. Entombment followed in the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum in San Antonio.

Marie J. Mann, age 79, of the Schattle Community, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2007, in San Antonio, He was born in Cameron, August 6, 1927. Rosary was recited Thursday, Feb. 22, in Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, Pearsall. Mass was celebrated Friday, Feb. 23, in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Pearsall. Interment followed in the Pearsall Cemetery.

Robert Glenn “RG” Pope, born on Sept. 5, 1920, passed away Feb. 6, 2007 at the age of 86. RG proudly served his country for 35 years in the United States Navy and was honored by his family with a graveside service at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Feb. 12, 2007, which included a 21 gun salute, playing of taps and presentation of the United States flag to the family, accepted by Robert Glenn Pope Jr.

Sue Ella (Trant) Reinhart, age 84, of DHanis passed away Monday, February 26, 2007, in Hondo. She was born in Keith July 2, 1922. Visitation at 9 a.m. and Rosary recited at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 1, followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, DHanis.

Mary Ann Roman, age 81, of San Antonio, died Tuesday, February 27, 2007. A Rosary was held on Thursday, Mar. 1, at St. Paul Catholic Church, San Antonio. Mass was held on Friday, Mar. 2 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Interment followed in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Joe H. Rothe, age 87 of Bryan passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Rothe was born May 27, 1919, in Hondo. A Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Monsignor John McCaffrey officiating. Entombment followed in the Monsignor Gleissner Mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.

Feliciano Q. Santos of Hondo, passed away on February 7, 2007 at the age of 53. Rosary was held at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church and from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, at Hondo Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Kathleen Frances Pitser Fisher Schroder, age 97, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, in Hondo. She was born June 6, 1909, in Yorktown, IN. Graveside service was at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at Sabinal Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Andy Tyson of First United Methodist Church of Hondo and Pastor Don Snyder of Sabinal Methodist Church.

Shana Lyn Thompson age 37, of Devine passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007 in San Antonio. A Memorial Service was held at 11a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home.

Mary Catherine (Hoog) Ulbrich, age 86, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2007, in Hondo. She was born in Castroville, Mar. 18, 1920. Visitation at 7 p.m. and Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 1, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, Mar. 2, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Regino Vasquez, age 88, of D’Hanis passed away Feb. 6, 2007. Visitation Thursday, Feb. 8 from 5 - 9 p.m. at Hondo Funeral Home. Rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hondo Funeral Home. Viewing from 9 - 10 a.m. before Funeral Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D’Hanis. on Friday, Feb. 9. Interment in San Francisco Cemetery in D’Hanis.

Hertha Clementina Weeber, age 88, of Hondo passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007. She was born July 31, 1918, in Seguin. Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the Quihi Cemetery, Pastor David Mayer of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiated.

James E. Ernest Wingate, age 84, of San Antonio passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007 in San Antonio. Funeral Service was conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, with interment following at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mildred Elizabeth Blackburn Ahr, age 89, of La Coste, passed away March 1, 2007. Mildred was born April 29, 1917 in Biry. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home open for Visitation on Friday, March 9, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass celebrated on Saturday, Mar. 10, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment at Lytle Masonic Cemetery, Lytle.

Manuel Arcos passed away peacefully with his family at his side March 29, 2007, at the age of 81. He was born in Hondo on January 4, 1926, into a loving family of 23 brothers and sisters. Rosary was recited at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Mass was celebrated Monday, April 2, at San Juan De Los Lagos Catholic Church. Interment followed at San Fernando Cemetery II.

John L. Bean, age 85, of Devine passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at his home. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 31, 2007, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, with Dr. T. Glenn Young officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.

Rosario deSola Bellan, age 98 of Castroville, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007, in King George, VA. Rosario was born June 20, 1908, in Hol-guin, Cuba. A graveside service was held Apr. 4, 2007, at Mission Park North Cemetery, San Antonio.

Frances Trinidad Baiz, age 62, passed away in Dallas on Mar. 15, 2007. She was born on Dec. 2, 1944 in Hondo. Services held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 24, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hondo.

Ella Marie Hitzfelder Bohl, age 94, of La Coste, passed away March 23, 2007 in Pleasanton. Ella was born Jan. 9, 1913 in rural La Coste. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment followed the Mass at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in La Coste.

Shirley Jo Blaschke Brieden of Devine, born Dec. 8, 1953, in Vallejo, CA, died March 30, 2007, at the age of 53 in San Antonio. Rosary was recited Monday, April 2, 2007, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Adolfo Valdivia-Aguirre officiating. Interment followed in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Msgt Edward Wallis Davis, Sr. U.S. Army, retired, of Castroville, passed away March 14, 2007, at Lackland A.F.B. Edward was born March 7, 1937 in Sharon WV. The Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment followed at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Sarah Eugenia Day, age 85, of Castroville, passed away March 12, 2007. Sarah was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Waco. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, Castroville

Jose M. Garcia, of D’Hanis passed away March 21, 2007, at the age of 60. Roman B. Garza, age 74, of Castroville, passed away March 11, 2007, in San Antonio. Roman was born Aug. 9, 1932, in Rio Medina. Funeral Mass was held Monday, March 12, 2007, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Rosary was held Mar. 13, 2007, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castro-ville. Interment followed the Rosary at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.

Essie Mae (Bell) Grisham, age 96, of San Antonio and formerly of Hondo, passed away Sunday, Mar. 11, 2007. She was born Dec. 6, 1910, in San Antonio. Funeral service was held at First United Methodist Church in Hondo, 2 p.m., on Sunday, Mar. 18, with Rev. Andy Tyson and Rev. Bert Clayton officiating. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. A Memorial Service celebrating Essie Mae’s life was held at New Forest Estates Assisted Living, 2 p.m., Monday, Mar. 19.

Natalee Gean Hibbs, who died after birth on Mar. 23, 2007, is now resting and waiting for the resurrection. Survivors include her parents, Larry and Jennie Hibbs; sister, Bailee Hibbs; brother, Rylee Hibbs all of Castroville. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home open for gathering for the Memorial Service at 1p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 31, 2007. Memorial Service  at 2 p.m.

Colby Adam Jonas, 24, of San Marcos, formerly of Castroville, passed away Mar. 14, 2007, in Austin. Colby was born December 13, 1982. Funeral Service was held Monday, March 19, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Castroville. Interment followed the funeral service at Quihi Cemetery in Quihi.

Ida Schulte Koby, age 87, of Flushing, MI, passed away Saturday, Mar. 24, 2007 at Fostrian Assisted Living. She was born in 1920 in Yancey. Funeral Mass was held Thursday, Mar. 29 at St. Robert Catholic Church. Interment followed at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Marvin Koenig, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2007. He was born August 31, 1924, in Castroville. Service was held Tuesday, Mar. 27 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Castroville, at 1 p.m.

Deborah Ellen (Staunton) Kreger, age 39, of Hondo passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007. She was born Dec. 8, 1967, in Whittier, CA. Graveside service and interment were Wednesday, Mar. 14, 2 p.m., at Hondo Cemetery, St. John’s Section, with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating.

Jennifer Margaret Jones Neuman, age 37, of Camp Wood, returned home to the Father on Friday, March 23, 2007, from the Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital in San Antonio. Samuel Z. Parks Jr.,age 5, of Hondo passed away Mar. 31, at Methodist Children’s Hospital in San Antonio. He was born in Springerville, AZ, to Samuel Z. Parks and Kathleen Lily Parks on Jan. 31, 2002. Sammy is survived by his parents, Sam and Kathy of Hondo and four loving sisters: Whitney Parks of Juneau, AK, Elizabeth Davis, Coty Davis and Kendra Parks all of Hondo. Wilburn David Wade, age 86, of Devine passed away Thursday, May 31, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5 at the First Baptist Church of Devine, with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

David Brian Walters, age 36, was born Oct. 6, 1970. He passed away May 18, 2007. Funeral Services was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in the Chapel of the funeral home, with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Anna Wojciuk-Prusak born on August 21, 1922, in a small village called Jablon, located in Eastern Poland, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 21, 2007, at her home in Hondo. A memorial funeral service, led by Deacon Richard Edminson, was held at the Guinn-Horger Chapel on Saturday, May, 26, 2007, at 10 a.m. Funeral Mass was held simultaneously in Poland. Her remains will be transported to Warsaw, Poland, and laid to rest in Brodno Cemetery.

Guadalupe Robles Alcozer, age 75, of San Antonio, formerly of Hondo, passed away Friday, June 29, 2007. She was born May 9, 1932, in Hondo. Rosary was recited Tuesday, July 3, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Thomas Alvarado Jr., age 60, of Castroville, passed away on June 23, 2007. Graveside service was held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on June 26, 2007.

Carmen Jose Alvarez, age 75, passed away in Devine, Tuesday, June 26, 2007, in San Antonio. He was born Thursday, July 16, 1931. Funeral services were held Friday, June 29, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon George Torres officiating.

Ella Flora (Ford) Blackshear, age 75, of Horn Lake, MS, formerly of Hondo, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2007, in Tennessee. She was born in Hondo April 25, 1932. Jesse Junior Brumage, age 77, of Talladega, AL, passed away Monday, June 11, 2007, in Talladega, AL. He was born in Jere, WV, on April 4, 1930. Graveside service was Friday, June 15, in the Evergreen Cemetery, Devine.

Raymundo M. Carrillo, age 52, of Hondo passed away Friday, June 8, 2007. He was born in Hondo, April 10, 1955. Rosary was recited Sunday June 10, and Funeral Mass was Monday, June 11, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Janet Kathryn Cook Fest, age 71, of Moore, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2007, in San Antonio. She was born in San Antonio, February 22, 1936. William Verbert Gray, age 73, a resident of the Hondo/D’Hanis SKP Park, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2007, in San Antonio. He was born Aug. 6, 1933, in Athens, GA. Memorial service held Friday, July 6, 10 a.m., at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Hedwig Caroline (Leinwe-ber) Windrow Kollman, age 97, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007, in Hondo. She was born on Nov. 23, 1909, the third of six children. Allen Franklin “Mac” McGuffin, 84, of Hondo passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2007. Mac was born on August 12, 1922, in Field Creek. Evelyn Louise (Hoffman) Wilson, 78, of Yancey passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born Feb. 20, 1929, in Lytle. Funeral service was held at Yancey Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 31, with Rev. Vance Elliott officiating. Richard Kenneth Caldwell Jr., SFO, age 46, of Rio Medina was born in San Antonio on November 28, 1960, and went to his eternal rest on August 5, 2007, at his home. Hilliard Collins, age 83, died in his Castroville home on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. Hilliard Collins, better known as Mr. C., was born February 12, 1924, in Granada, MS. Helen (Hunnicutt) Covey, age 92, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, in Hondo. She was born on Aug. 16, 1915, in Ninnekah, OK. Private interment is planned with her family in Llano.

Jay Dean Crutchfield, age 61, of San Antonio was born in Pearsall, on June 12, 1946 and he went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2007. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, also at the Hurley Funeral Home in Devine, with pastor, J C Ballard, of Calvary Chapel officiating.

Margaret Mary Sobeczek English, age 78, of Castroville, passed away Aug. 8, 2007 in Castroville. Margaret was born Oct. 17, 1928 in Wilson County. Edward Norwood Wheeler died October 9, 2007, in Dallas, Texas after a long battle with five different types of cancer, heart disease, kidney failure and numerous other medical problems. Lucille (Lucy) Knight Wilson went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at the age of 93. Lucy was born on May 31, 1914, in Avery. Service for Lucy was held at the Hondo First Methodist Church on Sunday, Oct. 28. Interment followed at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Lucille’s sisters of the Eastern Star helped with the service which was officiated by Reverend Andy Tyson.

Lorraine E. Begley, 86, of Devine, passed away November 14, 2007 in Castroville. She was born Feb. 21, 1921 in Canton. Visitation was on Saturday, Nov. 17. Funeral Service was held Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Interment followed the Funeral Service in Hondo Cemetery in Hondo.

Roy John Bohlen, age 89, of Hondo passed away Friday, November 30, 2007. Roy was born Dec. 15, 1917. Funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, 2 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hondo with Pastor Dave Mayer presiding. Interment was at the Oakwood Section of the Hondo Cemetery.

Doliver Glenn Dorries, age 84, of Hondo passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2007. He was born May 9, 1923, in San Antonio. Memorial service held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 9, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel.

Narcissa Esquibel, age 70 passed away on November 28, 2007. Visitation was from 2 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devine, on Sunday Dec. 2, 2007. Homer F. Faseler passed away November 27, 2007. He was born in Yancey on Jan. 26, 1926. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, with Air Force honors.

David C. Gallegos of D’Hanis, age 70, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2007. David was born March 13, 1937, in D’Hanis. Rosary was recited Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at 7 p.m. and Funeral Mass was held Monday at 10 a.m. Fr. Wallis J. Stiles officiated the services. Interment was at San Francisco Cemetery in D’Hanis.

Wanda Sue Gaston, age 69 passed away on November 11, 2007. Funeral service was held at Hondo Funeral Home on Friday Nov. 16, 2007. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Devine.

Pedro Gauna, age 57, of Moore passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007 at his residence. Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 19, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home in Devine. Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Devine, with interment following at Moore Memorial Cemetery.

Isidra Ibarra Hernandez of DHanis, age 103, five months and 30 days, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2007. Isidra was born May 15, 1904, in DHanis. Rosary and Funeral Mass were held on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, DHanis, with Fr. Wallis J. Stiles officiating. Pallbearers were Anthony Morin, Rolando Palacios, Enrique Garza, Jesse Hernandez, Ralph J. Hernandez and Rudolph R. Hernandez. Interment was at San Francisco Cemetery.

Herbert Hoover of Natalia, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2007 in Castroville, at the age of 86. He was born in San Antonio, August 2, 1921. Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 26 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, Natalia, with Father Romeo Olivares officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Devine.

Mary Jane Haile Howard, 82, of Castroville, passed away on November 29, 2007. She was born May 22, 1925 in New Braunfels. Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 2. Marcella Theresa Echtle Keller, 78, of La Coste, passed away November 15, 2007. She was born Dec. 17, 1928 in La Coste. Daisy Bless Krause, age 92, passed away on November 13, 2007, in San Antonio. She was married for 69 years to the Rev. Franklin H. Krause. Visitation was Monday, Nov. 19, and the Funeral Service was at Porter Loring Mortuary North on Tuesday, at 10 a.m. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Wesley Lawler, age 72 passed away on November 26, 2007. Visitation 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a 1 p.m. funeral service at Hondo Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 29.

David Nehr McGraw, age 74, of Hondo passed away Saturday morning, November 24, 2007, in Austin. David was born April 5, 1933, in Mingo Junction, Ohio. Rosary was recited at the Guinn-Horger Chapel on Monday, Nov. 26. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Nov. 27 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Harold Wendell Miller, 82, of Beaumont died Sunday November 18, 2007, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital, Beaumont.  Funeral service was held on November 21, 2007, at Brous-sard’s in Beaumont. Interment followed at Magnolia Cemetery.

Leighton Edgar “L.E.” Monier, age 95, of Tarpley passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007, after battling cancer. L.E. was born on July 5, 1912, near Sabinal. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel, with Timothy Covert, a minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses, officiating. Interment was at Tarpley Cemetery.

Sylvia “Sue” Petersen Muennink of Hondo, age 77, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2007. Rosary recited at 9:45 a.m., followed by the Mass at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Nov. 16, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D’Hanis. Committal service and interment at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.

Donna Jean Jacobs Murphy of San Antonio, age 45, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007, after battling cancer. Donna was born on Jan. 15, 1962, in Houston. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20, 10 a.m., at Yancey Cemetery.

Fred A. Notzon, 73, of Castroville passed away November 12, 2007, in Bandera. Fred was born Feb. 5, 1934, in Laredo. Ruben Y. Sanchez, age 73, of San Antonio passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007. He was born Jan. 27, 1934 in Knippa. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 5, and the funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at First Baptist Church, Hondo, with his nephew, Pastor Angel San-chez, officiating. Interment was at Hondo, Oakwood Cemetery.

Lillian Marie Schweers, age 93, of San Antonio passed away on November 24, 2007. She was born Feb. 5, 1914, in Hondo. Funeral service Friday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Burial at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Robert Andrew Schweers, age 55, passed away November 2, 2007, in a local hospital. He was born in Corpus Christi. A Mass of the Resurrection was held in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church Tuesday by Father Gaughan.

Evelyn Adele Mazurek Snider, age 81, of Devine passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007, in San Antonio. Funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 30, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, Devine. Interment followed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Maria Luisa Torres, age 82, passed away on Nov. 3, 2007. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4, at Hondo Funeral Home. A 3 p.m. Funeral Mass was held at St. John’s Catholic Church on Monday, Nov. 5. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Garland A. Tschirhart, 64, of Castroville, went to heaven on Nov. 2, 2007. He was born Aug. 10, 1943 in Castroville. Visitation was on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass was held Sunday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment followed in the St. Louis Cemetery.

Joe Russell Weber, 86, of San Antonio went to heaven on Nov. 7, 2007. He was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Hondo. Visitation held Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. and the funeral service held Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., all at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Interment in the San Fernando #2 Cemetery in San Antonio.

William Richard Weber, age 90, of San Antonio, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2007, in St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital, after a short illness. He was born on the family farm in Medina County on Feb. 4 1917. A memorial service was held Saturday Dec. 1, at St. John’s United Methodist Church in San Antonio, with burial following at 2 p.m. at Hondo Cemetery.

La Porte. Interment services were Friday, Dec. 28, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.

Jewel Bryant Coffman, 70, of Hondo, and formerly of Jasper, passed away Monday, December 24, 2007, in Hondo. Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 27, 2007, at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper. Burial followed at Homer Cemetery. A
memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Hondo.

Dorothy Paisley Rath Cotter, 89, of Lytle, and formerly of San Antonio, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007. She was born on Oct. 16, 1918, in the little coal mining town of Ward, WV. Memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m. at The Prevailing Word Church in Lytle with Pastor Lynn Beams officiating. Burial at the Blackhill Burial Park.

Braelyn Mae Garcia, baby girl, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007. Braelyn is survived by her parents Christopher and Lacey Neuman Garcia; maternal grandparents, Larry and Carol Neuman; paternal grandparents, Armando and Sylvia Garcia Jr;. Funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church, Devine. Interment followed in Heickman Cemetery, Somerset.

Ernest T. Gauna IV of D’Hanis, age 24, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2007. Ernest was born July 18, 1983, in San Antonio. A 10 a.m. Funeral Mass was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Devine on Wednesday, Dec. 12. Interment followed in New Hebbronville Cemetery in Hebbronville.

Charles F. Halty, 58, of Alexandria, VA, passed away December 4, 2007, at his family’s homestead near La Coste. He was born Aug. 15, 1949, in Castroville. Eugenio O. ‘Chito’ Hernandez, Jr, age 69, of Devine and formerly of Natalia for over 30 years, passed away December14, 2007, in San Antonio. Interment followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Devine.

Ofilia Davila Hernandez, age 56, of Devine passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at her residence. Rosary was recited at Hurley Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007. Mass was celebrated Monday, Dec. 31, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with interment following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Norvell James Jenkins of Hondo, age 65, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2007. Norvell was born June 23, 1942, in Hondo. Visitation was Wednesday at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service was Thursday, Dec. 13, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. David Mayer officiating and Rev. Donna McCaskill assisting. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Woodmen of the World Section.

Florine Ezetta Mason, 88, of Palestine, Texas, who was currently residing in Hondo, passed away Monday, December 3, 2007. She was born January 14, 1919, in Blackfoot. Memorial service and interment of cremains will be held at a later date in Palestine.

Fern McKinney of Huntsville, AR, formerly of Hondo, passed away early Christmas Day at the age of 89 due to a heart attack. Service was held on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at Braschear Funeral Home in Huntsville, AR.

Jay E. Muennink of New Fountain, age 81, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2007. Jay E. was born on Feb.17, 1926, at the family home in New Fountain. Visitation was Monday and the funeral service was Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Guinn-Horger Chapel with Rev. Charlie Parker of New Fountain UMC assisting and Rev. Ray Brink officiating. Special music was offered by The Joyful Noise. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Timoteo F. “Tim” Muñoz Sr. passed away at the age of 76 on December 31, 2007. He was born in Devine. A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South.

Clinton P. Ness, of Hondo, passed away on December 20, 2007 at the age of 93. A 2:30 p.m. Graveside Service held on Wednesday Dec. 26, 2007 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Uvalde.

Frances Burlene Moses Sanford, age 78, of D’Hanis, died at Medina Community Hospital in Hondo on Tuesday, December 18, 2007. Frances was born October 21, 1929, in Snyder. Visitation was Wednesday, with funeral service scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 20, at 5:30 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home in Hondo, the Rev. David Mayer officiating. Services and entombment at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Mont Meta Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in San Benito, with Chaplin Joe Perez of Valley Baptist Hospital leading the service.

Mary Anna Zedler Simpson passed away on December 19, 2007. She was born on March 5, 1919, in San Antonio. Celebration of life service was held on Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home.

Spencer “Ned” Stearns, age 87, of Hutchinson, formerly Hondo, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2007, in Hutchinson, MN. Ned was born January 27, 1920, in Harmony, MN. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Hutchinson, MN with a gathering one hour prior to the service. Mary Jo Rios Torres, age 72, of Hondo passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2007. Mary Jo was born May 14, 1935, in Hondo. Ernice Mary Friesenhahn Wanat, age 82, of Castroville, passed away December 24, 2007, in San Antonio. She was born January 31, 1925, in Bexar County. The Rosary was recited at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass was held Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment followed at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Robert ‘Bobby’ Lee West Jr. went to Heaven on December 27, 2007.  Known to his friends, family and co-workers as ‘Bobby’, he was born July 17, 1946, in San Antonio. Visitation and funeral service were held Dec. 29, 2007, at First United Methodist Church, Hondo.

George Thomas Wilkerson, age 86, died December 14, 2007. Born December 29, 1920, in Trinidad, CO. George Wilkerson’s life was celebrated at Black Creek Baptist Church on December 18, 2007, under the direction of Pastor Jim Whitt. He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery.
