Jenaro Aguiñaga, age 80, of Hondo passed away on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005.  He was born in D'Hanis on July 10, 1924.   The rosary was at 7 pm Sunday, Jan. 30, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m Monday, Jan. 31, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating. Burial was in the Wernette Family Cemetery in D'Hanis.

Erwin Max Biediger, age 87, of Castroville passed away Jan. 15, 2005, in Castroville. Erwin was born Feb. 21, 1917, in Bader Settlement.  Mass was held Sunday, Jan. 16, 7 p.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church.  Rosary was recited on Monday, Jan. 17, 10 a.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church. Entombment with military honors was at St. Louis Garden Mausoleum in Castroville. Memorials may be given to St. Louis Cemetery  or Vista Care Hospice. 

Jerry Harold Bradshaw, age 69, of Universal City passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2005.    He was born in Anthony, KS, on Dec. 23, 1935.   Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Leroy Horace Britsch, age 76, of Hondo went to be with Jesus on Monday, Jan. 24, 2005.   He was born in Hondo July 6, 1928.    Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating. Entombment was in the Hondo Cemetery, St. John Mausoleum. 

Daniel Carrillo Sr, age 94, of Hondo passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2005. He was born in Mexico, Jan. 4, 1911.    Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, led by Epifania Ybarra, and Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m.  Monday, Jan. 10, at St. John's with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating. Burial was in Yancey Cemetery.

Amelia Molina Cortez, age 89, of D'Hanis, passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005.    She was born in Laredo, April 29, 1915.  Rosary, beginning at 1 p.m., was followed by the Funeral Mass Saturday, Jan. 22, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial was in the San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Angelina Cubriel, age 87, of Devine passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born in Devine, April 25, 1917.   Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Jose F. Puente officiating.  Interment was in Moore Catholic Cemetery.

Trinidad Cabrera DeLeon, age 83, of Hondo passed away on Friday, Jan. 28, 2005.   She was born in Biry, on Oct. 30, 1921.  Funeral service was at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, at the Iglesia del Nuevo Testamento with service led by Pastor Ramiro Robles. Procession to the cemetery departed Guinn-Horger Chapel at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, for burial in Yancey Cemetery. Interment service was led by Pastor Johnny Hernandez.

Always a deep believer in symbolism, William Franklin "Bill" Hoover, age 78,  passed from this earthly womb of life to what lies beyond on New Year's Day, Jan. 1, 2005.     Bill was born  on August 29, 1926, in Marietta, PA.   Funeral service was held Thursday, Jan. 6, at St. Francis Episcopal Church, beginning at 12 noon. Graveside Military and Masonic services  held at Ft. Sam Houston following the church service.

Reynold Richard "Poppie" Keller, age 91, of Castroville,  passed away Jan. 4, 2005, in San Antonio.  Reynold was born Oct. 14, 1913, in the Saus Community in western Bexar County.   Funeral Mass was held Friday, Jan. 7, 8 p.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church. The Rosary was recited Saturday at 10 a.m., also at the church.  Interment at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville  followed the
Rosary.    

Charles Leo Korbell Sr., of San Antonio passed away on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at the age of 93. Charles was born Dec. 16, 1911, in San Antonio and was raised on a farm in Floresville by his parents.   The family visited with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. and visitation was from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Porter Loring Chapel. A private burial service for the family was held at Holy Cross Cemetery, San Antonio. 

Janet Maples  was born in Junction on January 1, 1947 and died on January 21, 2005.  She had currently lived in Hondo, Texas.   Many thanks to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi, Texas for the memorial service held for Janet on Monday, January, 24, 2005, and Unity Church of Austin for the memorial service held on Saturday, January 29, 2005, and all family and friends who aided in the services.

Kyle Edward Muennink, age 86, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005. He was born March 30, 1918, in Hondo.  Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. Graveside services were at 4 p.m. Jan. 4, at Calvary Hill Cemetery.

Howard Newton, age 89, passed away Jan. 4, 2005, in Hondo.    He was born Nov. 28, 1915 in Houston, but spent many of his early years in El Paso.    Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at First United Methodist Church, Houston, with Dr. Asbury Lenox officiating. Graveside service and committal was in Glenwood Cemetery.

Lela Grace Reily Oefinger was born April 11, 1918, in Hondo. She died Wednesday Jan. 26, 2005, in Medina Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.  Funeral service was held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bert Clayton officiating. Jennifer Stiegler was accompanist and special music was provided by God's Glory and Grace Singers.  Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Ruie Yates Tondre Perkins,  age 92, of Castroville, passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, in San Antonio.
Ruie was born Feb. 14, 1912, in Slater.   Graveside service was held on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at 10:15 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.

LCpl Rhonald Dain Rairdan, USMC, age 20, of San Antonio,  was killed in the line of duty Jan. 26, 2005, in Iraq. Dain was born April 22, 1984, in Eglin AFB, FL.  The family sends their condolences to the other families of the Marines and Corpsman of the C CO 1st BN 3rd Marines 1st Mar Div of Kaneohe Bay, HI, and the aircrew from MCAS Miramar.    Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home open for visitation Friday, Feb. 4, from 12 to 8 p.m. The funeral service Saturday, Feb. 5, 9 a.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Following the service, interment with full military honors  at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio.

After a long illness, Sarah Rohrbach went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005. She was  born on June 9, 1916, and lived in Hondo all her life.   Visitation was scheduled from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Guinn-Horger Chapel in Hondo Wednesday, Jan. 26. The Rosary and Funeral Mass held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo Thursday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m.   Burial  in Holy Cross Cemetery in D'Hanis.

Ann Strain Rothe was born Feb. 19, 1916, in Colleyville, KS.    Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Msgr. Lawrence Walsh as celebrant. Interment was at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Frances Ruth Rucker, age 79, passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. She was born in Hondo, Aug. 31, 1925.   Frances was cremated as per her wishes and no local service will be held.

Ehme Richard Saathoff, age 89, of D'Hanis passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2005.      Funeral service  held Friday, Jan. 14, 10 a.m., at Guinn- Horger Chapel with interment at Woodmen of the World Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Baby Ricky Zapata Sanchez Jr. of Hondo, entered into rest on Jan 7, 2005.    He is survived by his parents Ricky Zapata Sanchez and Mary Jane Padron; sisters, Alyssa Padron, Jessica Lee and Marih Lee Sanchez; brothers, Enrique P. and Jesse Angel Sanchez; paternal grandparents, Jesus Sanchez and Patricia; maternal grandmother, Ramona Padron.   Graveside service was held at Hondo Cemetery, at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10.

Zonell Simpson, age 77, of Castroville died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born in Eastland, Nov. 6, 1927.  Visitation was held Wednesday at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service was at 10 am Thursday, Jan. 6, at the Church of Christ in Hondo with George Randall and Frank Helvey officiating. A second visitation was held at the Head Family Funeral Home in Levelland Friday, Jan. 7, followed by burial in Peaceful Gardens Cemetery.

Virginia L. Smith of San Antonio, age 79, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2005.  Chapel service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Porter Loring North Chapel with graveside service being at 1:30 p.m. at Pleasanton City Cemetery, with Gary Lange officiating.

Annie Mae Ruston Stevens, age 77, of Natalia passed away Sunday, January 23, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born in Pryor, OK, January 28, 1927.    Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26 at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Robert L. Nixon Jr. officiating.

James D. "Jim" Vaughan Sr., age 76, died Sunday, January 16, 2005. He was born in Hondo on Dec. 24, 1928.   Funeral service was at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Burns officiating. Graveside service was at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Smith School Creek Cemetery near Lampasas.

Rodolfo Villarreal of Hondo, entered into rest on January 15, 2005.  Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m., Sunday Jan. 16 at Hondo Funeral Home. Mass was at 11 Monday, at St. John's Catholic Church.  Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

W.C. Walker, loving husband, father and grandfather, age 79, passed away at his residence, Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, from complications due to diabetes.    Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hurley Funeral Chapel. Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.  Interment was at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Devine.

Daily Blondina Graf Weiser, age 87, of Bigfoot, passed away Monday, January 17, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born in Wilbarger County, Oct. 20, 1917.    Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Divine Savior Lutheran Church with Rev. Ernest Schoenborn officiating. Interment was in Longview Cemetery.

Jerome John Zinsmeyer, age 77, of Hondo, passed away peacefully and at home, Monday, Jan. 3, 2005.  Jerome was born July 5, 1927, in D'Hanis.    Rosary was held at St. John's Catholic Church in Hondo at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5th. Funeral service  Thursday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m., also at St. John's, with burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery in D'Hanis.

Verine Maude Barlow, age 89 years, 2 months and 18 days, of Hondo, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005.   She was born in D'Hanis, on Dec. 4, 1915.  Memorial service was held at 3 p.m Sunday, Feb. 27, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel.

Martin Carrillo, age 87, of Natalia, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, in Lytle.  He was born in Natalia, Nov. 11, 1917.   Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church with Father Romeo Olivares officiating  Interment followed at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Francisco T. Castillo, age 84, of La Coste, passed away Feb. 10, 2005, in San Antonio. Francisco was born Oct. 4, 1920, in Hondo.  Rosary was recited Friday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Chapel. Mass was held Saturday at  12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment was at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.

Sherry Ruth Cicero, age 43, of Castroville passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, in San Antonio.  Visitation  held Friday, Feb. 25, 8 to 10 a.m., with a Chapel service  at Hurley Funeral Home, Devine. Rev. Ed Dougherty will be officiating. Interment  in Evergreen Cemetery.

Raquel "Rachel" Marie DeLeon, 58, of Kerrville,  passed away on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Dec. 4, 1946, in D'Hanis.   Rosary held at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel.  Mass  celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Greg Nevlud as celebrant.

Antonio R. Fuentez, age 82, of Natalia, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, in San Antonio. He was born in Natalia, Dec. 7, 1922.   Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church with Father Romeo Olivares officiating. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Edna Novella Gholson, 81, of Devine passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, in Castroville. Visitation  held Thursday, Feb. 24, 8 to 10 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home. Funeral service conducted Thursday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m.  in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Roy Leonard Dossey officiating. Graveside service at 3 p.m. at Langford Cemetery, Evant.

Jessie Jean Gulick, age 88 years, 6 months and 27 days, of Sabinal, Texas, died on Friday, February 18, 2005.    She was born in Konawa, OK, on July 22, 1916.   Graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Coker Cemetery in San Antonio.

James G. "Jim" Height, 55, of Hondo, passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, in New Braunfels.  Visitation Thursday, Feb. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Memorial service at 7 p.m.

Eugene Edward "Bubba" Jones, age 70, of Castroville,  passed away Feb. 19, 2005, at Lackland AFB. Bubba was born Jan. 16, 1935, in Youngstown, OH.   Memorial service held Friday, Feb. 25, at 8 a.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment  at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in Fort Sam Houston.

Jack Augustine Kelley ­ an embodiment of American Old West culture ­ died, at the age of 93, Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, in Devine.  Jack was born Aug. 12, 1911, in his maternal grandmother's home in Stamford, Jones County, Texas.   Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at First Baptist Church, Devine, with Dr. T. Glenn Young officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Felipe Lara, of Hondo, entered into rest on Feb. 9, 2005, at the age of 77.   Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at Hondo Funeral Home. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, at Templo De Dios Church. Interment followed in the Oakwood Section of Hondo Cemetery.

Alberto R. Lopez, age 57 years, 9 months and 15 days, of Hondo, Texas, passed away on Friday, Feb. 25, 2005.   He was born in Hondo, on May 10, 1947.   Rosary was recited Sunday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. and Funeral Mass was at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo.   Deacon Richard Edminson and Evangelina Pimentel led the rosary and Rev. Jeff Pehl officiated the mass.  Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Ruby Maurice Malone was born on May 12, 1916 in Devine, and entered into eternal rest on February 10, 2005 in San Antonio.   Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, with Ms. Dorothy Johnson, pastoral assistant,  Memorial United Methodist Church, Austin, officiating. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery.

Jesus T. Menchaca, age 82, of Devine, passed away February 4, 2005, in San Antonio. He was born in Big Wells on May 15, 1922. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Jose F. Puente officiating. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Funeral service for Raymond Robert Mumme Jr. of Bandera  held Thursday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home, Hondo. Visitation preceding the service, from noon to 2 p.m.   Born in Hondo on Mar. 21, 1933, he passed away Feb. 7, 2005, in Jourdanton.

Alvin J. Pawelek, age 48, of Hondo passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, in Panna Maria.   A former employee of TDCJ in Hondo, he lived in Hondo for 15 years.    Rosary was recited Tuesday, Feb. 15, 7 p.m., and Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 10 a.m., both at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment was at Panna Maria Cemetery. Rev. Wojeiesch Reisch officiated.

Fifty-four days shy of ninety years, Annabelle Pease ended what she laughingly referred to as her "third childhood" on Feb. 9, 2005.   She was born in Stockton, Ca and came to Hondo in 1996.  The family requests that honorariums be  directed to: Southwest Indian Foundation, P.O. Box 86, Gallup NM 87302-0001.

Laura Lucille Stockton Pfeiffer, 91, of Moore passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in Bigfoot.  Funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Hurley Funeral Home, Devine. Interment was at Longview Cemetery, Bigfoot.

Daniel Martin Polhemus, age 19, of Wimberley was called home by our heavenly father on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005.   He was born in San Antonio on Jan. 1, 1986.   Services for Daniel were held on Monday, Feb. 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wimberley with burial following at the Wimberley Cemetery.

Mercedes Duron Rangel, age 92, of La Coste passed away Feb. 14, 2005, in Castroville.   Mercedes was born Dec. 25, 1912, in La Coste.   Visitation  Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Mass  Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. A Rosary  held Thursday, Feb. 17, at  10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment following the Rosary at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.

Maria Rodriguez Sarabia, age 84, of Yancey, passed away on Monday, Feb. 14, 2005.  She was born in Yancey April 20, 1920.  Visitation was at the Guinn-Horger Chapel with Rosary recited by Joe Mares at 7 pm on Thursday, Feb. 17. Funeral Mass was at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Yancey. Interment was at Yancey Cemetery. Father Wallis J. Stiles officiated the services.

Msgr. Victor G. Schmidt-zinsky, 90, went to his eternal reward Friday, Feb. 25, 2005.    He was a resident of Padua Place, retired home for priests, since 1996.  He was born in Fredricksburg on January 27, 1915.   Visitation was held Monday, Feb. 28, in the Schaetter Funeral Home Chapel and a vigil service was held Monday at 7 p.m.     A Mass of Resurrection was held Tuesday, March 1, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Tony Vilano officiating. Interment was at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

After a long and valiant battle with Multiple Sclerosis, Lt. Eric Tyler Schofield, USN, at the age of 53, completed his earthly journey and went home to the Lord on Feb. 16, 2005. He began his journey as a Navy baby June 19, 1951, at Balboa Medical Center, San Diego, CA.   A memorial service led by Rev. Stan Harvey was held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home in San Antonio on Saturday Feb. 19. Internment at Fort Sam Houston will be at a later date with full military honors.

Kathrine Agnes "Maw Maw" Schulte, 78, of Kerrville, formerly of Hondo, passed away Monday, Feb. 7, 2005.    Memorial service  Thursday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville with Pastor Douglas McBride, officiating.  She was born July 19, 1926, in Yorktown. 

Lillian E. Huegele Smith, age 92,  passed away Feb. 27, 2005, at her home in San Antonio after a short illness. She was born in D'Hanis on April 4, 1912.   Graveside funeral service held Friday, March 4, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m. with Pastor James Haupt of Mt.Calvary Lutheran Church officiating.

Stella Kahanek Staha, age 88, of Port Lavaca, passed away Feb. 28, 2005.  She was born Aug. 21, 1916, in Schulenburg.    A rosary was recited Wednesday, Mar. 2, 2005, at 7 p.m. in Richardson at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass  Friday, Mar. 4, 2005, at 12:00 p.m.. in St. John's Catholic Church, Schulenburg.  Interment  in St. John's Cemetery, Schulenburg.

Leon Anthony Suehs, age 81, of Castroville passed away Feb. 15, 2005, in Castroville.    Leon was born Jan. 26, 1924, in San Antonio. Visitation  Thursday, Feb. 17, from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m.  and Rosary  recited at 7 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Chapel.  The Mass  Friday, Feb. 18, at  10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment with military honors  followed at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville. Members of VFW  Post #8134 and American Legion Post 460 will be honorary pallbearers.

Reginald Ernst Weirich, age 80 years, 8 months, and 17 days, of Quihi, passed away on Friday, Feb. 11, 2005.  He was born in Johnson City May 25, 1924, the son of Alfred August and Gretchen (Klappen-bach) Weirich.    Funeral service was at 10 a.m Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi, led by Pastor Stephen Schur. Burial was in Quihi Cemetery.

Peggy Williams, age 69, of Devine, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, in Devine. She was born in Schertz, March 7, 1935.  Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Myron Ricketts officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Luther Russell "Rusty" Attaway Jr., age 56, of San Antonio, passed away on March 24, 2005, from respiratory failure due to pulmonary fibrosis.  He was born in Kingsville, on August 1, 1948.    Visitation and Rosary prayer service was held Sunday, Mar. 27, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 700 Dewhurst in San Antonio. The Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Monday, Mar. 28, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. The Revs. Michael O'Gorman and Wallis Stiles presided. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Floyd Bader, age 86, passed away at his home in Hondo on March 2, 2005.  He was born on June 13, 1918.  Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 4, at the Hondo Funeral Home Chapel with Albert Villa Officiating. Interment followed at Hondo Cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret Wentworth Behrens died in Austin, Sunday, March 6, 2005.  Graveside services were at Uvalde Memorial Cemetery, Thursday, March 10 at 1 p.m.     Margaret was born in Utopia.

Bendele, age 75, of Rio Medina passed away Mar. 16, 2005, in San Antonio.  Roy was born Dec. 13, 1929, in San Antonio.  Visitation was Friday, Mar. 18, from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Tondre- Guinn Funeral Home, followed by Mass at  7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Rosary was recited Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment at Hondo Cemetery in Hondo followed the rosary.

Bonita Marie Bottorf, age 21, passed away on March 14, 2005.   Rosary  recited at 7 p.m. on March 17 at Saint Monica Catholic Church, 515 North Street, Converse. Kaliah Athena Noelani Bottorf, age 3, passed away on March 11, 2005.   She is survived by her father, Ryan Stewart Bottorf; mother, Bonita Marie Bottorf; grandparents, Richard and Evelyn Bottorf of San Antonio, Steve and Terri Hernandez, Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Rodriguez Sr., all of Hondo;  Rosary recited at 7 p.m. on March 24, 2005 at Saint Monica's Catholic Church, 515 North St., Converse. Brandy Ann Clark, age 27, of Uvalde, passed away March 1, 2005 in Uvalde. She was born in San Antonio, Jan. 15, 1978.  Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Hillcrest Cemetery with Bro. Ray Melton officiating.

Gilberto Contreras of Hondo, entered into rest on March 27, 2005, at the age of 87.    Visitation was Wednesday, March 30,with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Hondo Funeral Home. Procession from the funeral home at 9:30 and Funeral Mass  at 10 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 31, at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment  in Hondo Cemetery.

Trinidad M. Cuellar, Jr., age 56, of Hondo, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2005. He was born in Hondo, on Nov. 5, 1948.   The Rosary was recited at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Thursday March 3, at 7 p.m. and the Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Friday,  March 4, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. The burial followed at the Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.




Eugenia M. Contreras, age 63, of Hondo, entered into rest on Mar. 4, 2005.   Visitation was from 3-9 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 7, a Rosary was also recited on Monday at Hondo Funeral Home. The Funeral Procession departed at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 8 for a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment followed in the Hondo Cemetery.

Delia A. Dominguez, age 71, of Moore, passed away March 25, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born April 15, 1933, in Mexico City, Mexico.  Arrangements were by Hurley Funeral Home, Devine

Eleanor "Nora" H. Kowalik Dugi, born Aug. 8, 1919, passed away March 16, 2005.  Rosary was at 7 p.m. Friday,  and Mass of the Resurrection was at 11 a.m. Saturday, with both services being at Holy Name Catholic Church. Grave services were held at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Falls

Shirley June Fowler, age 74, of the Hondo Community Care Center and formerly of Sabinal, passed away March 12, 2005, at Southwest Texas Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. She was born Dec. 18, 1930, in Sabinal.  Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 19, in Hondo Cemetery, Hondo.

Trinidad Soliz Garcia, age 86, of Yancey,  passed away on Friday, Mar. 4, 2005. She was born in Yancey, on Feb. 4, 1919.   The Rosary was at 8 p.m. Monday, Mar. 7, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home and the Funeral Mass is at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 8, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The burial followed at the Yancey Cemetery.

Peggy Alice Reuthinger Hardt, age 71, of Hondo, passed away peacefully in her home in Hondo, on Friday, Mar. 4, 2005. She was born in Laredo, on Dec. 2, 1933.   The Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, March 7, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home and the Funeral Service was at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 8, at the First United Methodist Church of Hondo with Rev. Beverly Burke officiating. The burial followed at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Raul F. Martinez, age 79, of San Antonio, passed away Wednesday, Mar. 2, 2005. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m.  Monday, March 7, in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home in Lytle.  Mass was celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 8 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Lytle. Interment followed at 1:45 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Terry Moore, age 57, of La Grange, passed away March 14, 2005, in Austin. He was born in Sabinal, Aug. 24, 1947.    Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel, Sabinal, with Rev. Robert Richarz officiating.  Interment followed in Waresville Cemetery, Utopia.

Dale August Muennink, age 65 , of Hondo, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2005. He was born in Tomball, on February 21, 1940.   Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 6, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home and the Funeral Service was at 10 a.m. on Monday, Mar. 7, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. The burial followed at the Tomerlin Cemetery, Zig Zag Community.

Dr. Thomas Peyton Nowlin, III, born Nov. 28, 1944  in San  Antonio.  Visitation was held Wednesday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Devine. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Mar. 9,  at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Devine. Interment followed at Longview Cemetery.

Francisca Piña Oranday, age 84, of Hondo, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2005.   She was born in LaCoste, on March 3, 1921.  Rosary was held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 10,  and Funeral Mass was at 12 noon on Friday. Both services were at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial was at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Raul Rendon of Uvalde, formerly of Hondo, passed away Wednesday, Mar. 9, 2005, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was 46.  He was born Oct. 12, 1958, in Hondo.     A private viewing for family members was held Thursday, Mar. 10. Per his wishes, he was cremated. His ashes will be spread in Maine at a later date.  A memorial service was held Saturday, Mar. 12 in Uvalde. Another memorial service was held Tuesday, Mar. 15 at St. John's Catholic Church in Hondo.

Richard Rico, age 44, of Bandera, died Monday, March 7, 2005, in a Kerrville hospital.  He was born Oct. 18, 1960, in Hondo.  Rosary was held on Thursday, March 10, at 7 p.m. at Grimes Chapel.  Funeral service was held Friday, Mar. 11, 10 a.m., at Grimes Chapel with Father Stan Oleksy officiant.  Interment was in the new Catholic Cemetery.

Monsignor Victor G. Schmidt-zinsky entered eternal life on Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at the age of 90 years. He was a resident of Padua Place, a home for retired priests in San Antonio.   He was born in Fredericksburg, Jan. 27, 1915.   The Vigil Service, including the Rosary and Scripture Readings, were held in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home on Monday evening, lead by Patrick Klein. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, March 1, in St. Mary's Church by Bishop Feldhaurer of the diocese of Victoria, assisted by Archbishop Jose Gomez, Bishop Flores and numerous fellow priests of the San Antonio and Victoria Diocese. St. Mary's Choir, under the direction of Mary Murchison provided the music. Interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Major Ellis Self, Sr., age 80, of Castroville, passed away Mar. 4, 2005 at Lackland AFB. Major was born Nov. 6, 1924, in Blountville, AL.   Visitation was at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, Tuesday, Mar. 8, 2005, from noon to 8 p.m., with the family present to receive relatives and friends  from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service was Wednesday, Mar. 9, at  11 a.m.
at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Interment with full military honors followed at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Fort Sam Houston.

Louretta H. Stein, went to be with the Lord, March 14, 2005.   A Memorial Service held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hondo, Thursday, March 17, at 10 a.m.

Forney Harris Stephens, age 85, of Sabinal, passed away in Uvalde on Thursday, Mar. 10, 2005.  He was born in Haleyville, AL, on June 13, 1919.    Funeral Service was at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 12, at the First Baptist Church in Sabinal, with Rev. Monty Benson officiating.  Burial was at Sabinal Cemetery.

Eduardo Ytuarte, age 80, of Hondo passed away in San Antonio, on Wednesday, Mar. 16, 2005.   He was born in Hondo on May 10, 1924.   Rosary was led by Epifania Ybarra at 7 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 20. Funeral Mass was celebrated by Rev. Jeff Pehl at 11 a.m. Monday, both services at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial was at the Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Erlene Isabell Baker, age 94, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 3, 2005, at a Kerrville care center, into eternal rest with her Lord. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Yancey Community Cemetery.

Dorothy Sue Booker, age 52, went quietly into the arms of Jesus on April 27, 2005, in Phoenix, AZ.  She was the beloved wife of  Larry Booker, former pastor of New Fountain United Methodist Church.  Dorothy asked that instead of flowers at her home-going celebration in Cheyenne, WY, that any memorial gifts to be given to  Banner Gardens Hospice House, 7231 E. Broadway Road, Mesa, Arizona 85208, for their loving care during her last days on earth.

Alberta G. Clark, age 69, of Bandera, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005, in a Kerrville hospital. On December 23, 1935, she was born in Sealy.   A memorial service was held Monday, April 25, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Bandera United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Thompson of San Antonio officiating.  Following the service, a reception was held at the Silver Sage Senior Activity Center.

James Earl (Jim) Cooper, age 48, met his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 10, 2005 following complications from surgery to remove a benign brain tumor.   Jim was born Nov. 4, 1956 in Kingsville, TX.    A funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church. Private burial in Hondo. The family received visitors at St. Paul Lutheran Church Activity Center on Friday, Apr. 15, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Dorothy Molly Corzine, age 81, of San Antonio, passed away on April 3, 2005. She was born in Galveston, on Nov. 4, 1923.  Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the Rushing -Estes- Knowles Chapel in Sabinal. Interment  in Sabinal Cemetery with Rev. Walter Hoke officiating.

Trevor Joseph Elliott, age 7, of Castroville, entered into rest April 13, 2005. He was born November 16, 1997 in San Antonio. Trevor was a first grade student at Medina Valley Elementary School.     His loving mother, Diana Jo Norman and sweet sister, An-gelique Danette Riou preceded him in death.  Survivors include his father, Robert C. Elliott of San Antonio.   Visitation for Trevor, his mother and sister was at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Sunday, April 17. A rosary for them was recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, Castroville. Funeral Mass was held Monday, April 18, 10:30 a.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville.

Veda Evelyn Blasingame  Finger was born in El Paso, Arkansas, on July 13, 1919.  She passed away on April 19, 2005, after a five month battle with cancer.  Visitation was held Thursday, April 21, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home.  Rosary and Funeral Mass were held Friday, April 22, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo.  Entombment followed at St. John's Mausoleum, Hondo Cemetery.

Dorothy Rawlings Finto, 60, of Devine, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2005. She was born January 1, 1945, in Needeville.   Funeral services were held Monday, May 2, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview.

Ester Flores Garza, born December 26, 1934, in Martindale, Texas, entered into rest on April 5, 2005, at the age of 70.  Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home open for visitation on Thursday, April 7, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass  Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment was in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, La Coste.

Nelda Huschke, age 63, of Jourdanton, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2005. She was born July 24, 1941, in Frio County.  Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 3, at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Jourdanton. Interment was at St. Matthew's Catholic Cemetery in Jourdanton.

Henrietta Marie Keller Kempf, age 88, of La Coste, entered into rest Apr. 9, 2005, in San Antonio.   She was born Jan. 22, 1917, in La Coste.   Visitation was Tuesday, Apr. 12, with the rosary recited at 7 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Agnes Josephine Tondre Mechler, age 95, of Castroville, passed away April 15, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born in Bexar County, on March 4, 1910.  A memorial service held on Saturday, April 23, 10 a.m., at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Interment of her ashes at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville. 

Diana Jo Norman, age 43, of Castroville, entered into rest April 13, 2005. She was born April 28, 1961, in San Antonio.  Visitation for Diana, her daughter and son was at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Sunday, April 17. Tommy L. Palmer Jr., age 78, of Sabinal, passed away April 9, 2005 in Medina Community Hospital in Hondo. He was born in Gilmer on Jan. 28, 1927. James C. Park, age 79, of Sasakwa, OK, passed away March 28, 2005. He was born in Kingston, OK, Aug. 11, 1925.   Funeral service was  Wednesday, Mar. 30, at Criswell Chapel with Rev. Mickey Keith officiating. Interment followed in Swan Hill Cemetery.

Arthur L. Rains, age 72, of Hondo passed away on Saturday, Apr. 9, 2005.  He was born in Wellington, KS, on Oct. 11, 1934. He was retired from the military.     No service is scheduled.

Angelique Danette Riou, age 22, of San Antonio, entered into rest April 13, 2005. Angelique was born March 4, 1983 in San Antonio.  Angelique was preceded in death by her loving mother, Diana Jo Norman, her precious little brother, Trevor Elliott.  Visitation for Angelique, her mother and brother was at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Sunday, April 17. A rosary for them was recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, Castroville. Funeral Mass was held Monday, April 18, 10:30 a.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church. Lydia Pearl Sapp, age 74, passed away, April 9, 2005. She was born in Rockdale, on Dec. 22, 1930.   Funeral service  at 4  p.m. Thursday, Apr. 14, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Interment at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Leslie Charles Frank Schlentz age 83, of Hondo passed away, Apr. 4, 2005. He was a farmer.   He was born in Hondo, on Aug. 19, 1921.  Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 7, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Interment was at the Hondo Cemetery, Oak-wood Section.

Henry Peter Van de Putte Sr., age 81, of Castroville, passed away Apr. 22, 2005, in San Antonio. Henry was born Jan. 25, 1924 in San Antonio.   Visitation was Monday, April 25, prior to the Funeral Service  at 2 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Interment with military honors was at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville. Following the interment, a memorial celebration was held at the Medina Valley Moose Lodge, 1915 Hwy 90 West, in Castroville.

Johanna Heesakkers Vandermeulen, age 75, of San Antonio passed away April 20, 2005, at her home. She was born in Eindhoven, Holland, on May 10, 1929.   Visitation was Sunday, Apr. 24. A Graveside Service was held Monday, April 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis Cemetery.

Homer C. Verstuyft of San Antonio, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005, at the age of 97. He was born July 30, 1907 in San Antonio. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12 and Funeral Mass was offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with both services being at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church. Interment followed in San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery No. 2.

Clarence P. Sidney James "Jack" Boehme, age 75, of Rio Medina,  passed away Friday, May 13, 2005, in San Antonio. Jack was born Nov. 12, 1929, in San Antonio.   Visitation was Saturday, 4  to 8 p.m. and Sunday,  10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Decade of the Rosary and Mass of Resurrection was held Sunday, May 15, at 4 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville.  Interment was at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Edward Lee "Pete" Capps,  age 73, of San Antonio passed away Sunday, May 1, 2005, at his residence.   Visitation was held Wednesday, May 4, at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m.   Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Devine. EVELYN FRANCES (KNOPP) TOMPKINS COLLINS,  age 84, passed away May 27, 2005.  Evelyn was born Oct.1, 1920, in Hondo.  Evelyn's wish was to be cremated and to have her ashes scattered to the winds over her ranch, on the hill overlooking the two lakes and the house, praying that this will help the wildflowers grow.   A memorial service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 4, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel.

Arthur Felix Conrad, age 94, of Devine passed away May 16, 2005, in San Antonio. Arthur was born July 7, 1910, in La Coste.  Funeral Mass held Thursday, May 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment followed the mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Devine.

Christopher Jordan Dugosh, son of Richard and Mel Dugosh of Hondo, passed away suddenly May 19, 2005, he was 20 years old. He was an inspiration to many and he will be missed.   A Rosary was held Sunday, May 22, at Grimes Funeral Home in Bandera with Father Michael McManus officiating.       The Funeral Mass was held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera on Monday, May 23, with Father Wallis Stiles officiating. Burial was at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery Annex.

Alexander Roscoe Galloway, President and Chief Executive Officer of Security State Bank of Pearsall, was born August 9, 1924 in Marble Falls, passed away May 12, 2005.   Visitation was held at 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 13 at Hurley Funeral Home. The memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14 at First United Methodist Church of Pearsall.

JANIE W. GONZALES,  born April 5, 1929, in San Antonio, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2005.  She wished to be cremated.   Services under the direction of Hondo Funeral Home, Hondo.

JERRILYN DAWN GRELL, beloved wife, Mom, Mema and sister went to be with our Lord and Savior on May 27, 2005, at the age of 65. GARLAND RAY GRUNEWALD,  born January 24, 1949, in Hondo, went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2005, at the age of 56.  Funeral ceremony was Thursday, May 28, at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Interment followed at Mission Burial Park South.

Guadalupe Guerrero, age 59, of Hondo, entered into rest on May 14, 2005.   Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m. with Prayer service at 7 p.m., Monday, May 16, at Hondo Funeral Home. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 17 at Hondo Funeral Home.  Interment followed in the Hondo Cemetery.

Esther May Heyen, age 81, went quietly into the arms of Jesus on May 5, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born on a farm on Talley Road in Bexar County, on Sept. 25, 1923.   Burial was at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 9, in the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section and a memorial service was held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church,San Antonio.

Ronald James "Ronnie" McGuffin, age 56, passed away, Sunday, May 1, 2005.  He was born in San Antonio, on April 18, 1949.   The Rosary was at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Gabriella Rae Mendoza, age  2 months and 4 days, passed away on May 29, 2005, in San Antonio.   She was born March 25, 2005, in San Antonio, the daughter of Soloman Ybarra and Anissa Mendoza.  Funeral service, officiated by Fr. Raymon Joe Moore, age 57, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2005.      Ray was born in Memphis, TX, on November 1, 1947.    Memorial service held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Chapel in Castroville.   

Thomas Decalb Morrel V of San Antonio, age 25, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 9, 2005.     He was born Nov. 18, 1979.    The Shearer Hills Baptist Church, 12615 U.S. Highway 281 North, San Antonio,  open for visitation 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14. Murel Louis "Spud" Murphy, age 73, of D'Hanis passed away on Monday, May 9, 2005.  He was Native American,  born Dec. 11, 1931, in Oklahoma.   According to his wishes, no services are scheduled and his ashes will be scattered.

Lt. Col. Lawrence Dewey Nuckles, U.S. Army retired,  age 87, of Lakehills, formerly of Rockport, passed away May 16, 2005, at his home.  Lawrence was born March 18, 1918 in Sabinal.    Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home open for visitation on Thursday, May 19, from 2 to 8 p.m with the family present from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Graveside Service held Friday, May 20, at 11 a.m., with full military honors at Ft. Seynovio Joseph "Joe" Pasillas, age 77, passed on to eternally enjoy the heavenly, glorious refulgence of the Lord, on May 13, 2005, in San Antonio.   A memorial service  held at the Faith Community Bible Church, in Hondo, on May 22, at 10:30 a.m. The ashes of both Joe and Alice will be later moved to California where they will be scattered out to sea.

Patty "Pat" Markley Perkins, age 73, of Mico passed away May 3, 2005, in San Antonio.     Pat was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Bluffton, IN.  Visitation Thursday, May 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home.  A graveside service followed by interment on Friday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Robert Browning Pool, 53, of San Antonio passed away May 31, 2005. He was born in Germany on May 29, 1953. No service is planned.

MANUEL ROMERO PROUTY JR. 74, of Devine passed away Saturday, May 28, 2005, in San Antonio.   Visitation was held and Rosary was recited May 31, in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. Felix Rangel, age 79, passed away May 30, 2005, in San Antonio. ROBERT MILTON STANTON SR., of Devine, passed away in San Antonio on May 26, 2005.    Bob, as he was known to family and friends, was born in South Kingston, RI, Nov. 1, 1922.  Visitation was at Hurley Funeral Home on May 29. Donald Glenn "Donnie" Barron, age 34, of Castroville passed away June 17, 2005. He was born Dec. 25, 1970, in San Antonio.  Rosary was recited Tuesday, June 21, and Funeral Mass  was held Wednesday, 10 a.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment was at the Moore Cemetery, Moore.

Myrtle Marie Johnson Chester, age 76, of Castroville passed away Saturday, June 11, 2005,  in Castroville.    She was born Dec. 18, 1928 in Northfield, MN,   Visitation was Tuesday, June 14, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. John W. Ellsworth born September 1939, and died June 12, 2005, of a brain tumor.    Memorial service was held at 7 p.m.  Wednesday, June 29, 2005.

Virginia Elisabeth Everhardt, age 73, of Devine passed away June 25, 2005, in Pearsall. She was born on Oct. 30, 1931, in Kingsville. Graveside service was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with Dr. T. Glenn Young officiating.

Helen Margaret Fecci, age 90, of San Antonio died on Wednesday, June 22, 2005.   Miss Fecci was a first generation American and one of 11 children, born  on May 12, 1915.  Rosary was recited at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 25, with Mass of the resurrection immediately following at San Francesco di Paola Catholic Church. Interment followed in San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery No. 2.

Charles Russell Finger, age 83, passed away on June 7, 2005 in Hondo.  He was born on Jan. 15, 1922, in Hondo.   Rosary was recited Saturday, June 11, and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Wallis Stiles, was at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. Burial was at the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Eva  Hernandez Gooch,  was born on Feb. 9, 1917, at the old Madla Ranch in Helotes.   She passed away June 24, 2005, in San Antonio at the age of 88 years.   The Rosary , followed by the Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, June 28, at 12:15 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace of Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment was at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Dr. Robert Sherman Gore, age 92, of Castroville and of Columbia, LA, passed away June 21, 2005, in Castroville.  Dr. Gore was born Sept. 24, 1912, in Grayson, LA.   Visitation was held Wednesday, June 22, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville and  Friday, June 24, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA. Eva Pearl Green, age 89, passed away on June 18, 2005, in Hondo.   She was born on September 19, 1915, in Truro, IA.  Graveside service, officiated by David Mayer, was at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 20, at the Hondo Cemetery, WOW Section.

Annabelle Elizabeth Tondre Hencey, age 73, of Castroville and LaCoste, passed peacefully on June 12, 2005, surrounded by the love of her family and friends, as God mercifully passed her into the arms of beloved husband, Sam, who preceded her in death.   Annabelle was born Dec. 11, 1931, in San Antonio.  Visitation was Wednesday, June 15, from 12 noon to 5:30 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Lillian Maebelle Hartman Moehring, a life-long Hondo resident, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2005, at the age of 86.   Lillian was born in Hondo on February 20, 1919, and was raised in the Quihi area.   Funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 27, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Quihi, Pastor Steven Schur officiating. Interment was in the family plot at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Charles Thomas Moore III, age 35, of Devine passed away Saturday, June 11, 2005 in Devine. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at First Baptist Church of Devine. Interment followed in Black Creek Cemetery with Dr. T. Glen Young officiating.

Jesusa A. Perez, age 74, of Natalia, passed away  on Friday, June 10, 2005, at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital in San Antonio. She was born on May 15, 1931, in Biry. Raymond F. Saathoff, age 89, of Chandler, AZ, formerly of Hondo and Tucson, passed away June 3, 2005.   Services held Friday, June 10, 12 Noon, with visitation and rosary one hour prior at Green Acres Chapel of Light, 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, AZ.

L.A. Smith, age 94, passed away Thursday, June 2, in San Antonio. L.A. was born in Bibb on April 3, 1911.  Visitation was Saturday and Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5, both at Guinn- Horger Funeral Home. His grandson, Todd Smith, conducted the service. Readings were given by Mallory Braden, Keith Smith and Lisa Snell, and music by Teri Smith.

Daniel "Esco" Taylor, age 67, of Warrenburg, MO, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2005.  Funeral services were held, June 8, at the First United Methodist Church, Warrensburg, MO.  Burial was in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Higginsville, MO, with full Military Honors.

Alice Anne "Pat" Weaver, age 73, of Moore, passed away Friday, June 10, 2005, in Moore. She was born in San Antonio, Friday, March 11, 1932.  Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery, Uvalde.

Christy Denise Yeager of rural Hondo was tragically taken from her family at the young age of 24 years on June 18, 2005, in San Antonio.  Christy was born July 11, 1980, in Webster.  Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home  opened for visitation at 9 a.m. before the Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 23. Interment followed the service at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Martha G. Zabel, age 78, of Devine passed away Friday, June 17, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born in Waco, Jan. 4, 1927.  Funeral service was at 3 p.m. Monday June 20, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Dennis officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Ruben O. Cerda, age 63, passed away Friday, July 29, 2005.  Funeral Mass was held at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, in San Antonio.

Ethel Louise Baldwin Christie, age 82, of San Antonio passed away July 15, 2005, in San Antonio.  Louise was born May 4, 1923 in Tallagega County, AL.   Louise's wishes were to be cremated.

Winona Helen Henson, age 77, passed away on July 31, 2005, at the Val Verde Regional Medical Center in Del Rio.  She was born on June 29, 1928, in Hondo.   Rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday. Aug. 2, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel and led by Ramona Koch and Alleen Koch. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Jeff Pehl, was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Octaviano G. Hernandez, of Hondo, went to be with the Lord July 9, 2005, at the age of 81.   Visitation was 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 11, and 10 a.m. Tuesday with prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, with all services at Hondo Funeral Home. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery.

Victoria Alcorta Ibarra of San Antonio, age 97, passed away July 22, 2005. She was born in Sabinal on Jan. 12, 1908.  Rosary was recited Tuesday, July 26, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass was held Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, followed by interment at San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Garland A. Martin Jr., age 77, of San Francisco, CA, passed away Friday, July 15, 2005. He was raised in Hondo and graduated from Hondo High School in 1945.  Graveside service, conducted by Rev. Beverly Burk, was held at Oakwood Cemetery Friday, July 22, at 10 a.m.

Cynthia Kay Martinez, age 43, passed away Friday, July 15, 2005. She was born in Minneapolis, MN.  She had lived in Devine for the past 20 years.  Visitation was Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home. Funeral was held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home with Pastor Odis Doyal officiating. Interment followed in evergreen Cemetery.

Frances Haegelin Meyer, age 88, passed away on June 29, 2005, in Alpharetta, GA.   She was born on June 12, 1917, in Hondo.  The Rosary was recited Tuesday, July 5, at 9:30 a.m. and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Francisco Puente, was at 10 a.m., both services were at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial followed at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Our very beloved mother, Stella Finger Ney, age 87, passed away on July 2, 2005, in San Antonio. Stella was born Feb. 20, 1918, in D'Hanis.  Rosary was recited Wednesday, July 6, at 9:30 a.m., and the Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m., both services officiated by Fr. Wallis J. Stiles at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. Burial was at Holy Cross  Cemetery in D'Hanis.

Elmer Adolph August Nietenhoefer, age 90, left this earth on June 14, 2005. A lifelong resident in the Hondo area, he was born on July 4, 1914, in the Vandenburg community.    The funeral was conducted at the Guinn- Horger Funeral Home by Pastor Stephen Schur. Interment followed at the Hondo Cemetery.

James William Noblitt , age 84, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2005. He was born March 1, 1921, in Bonham.   Funeral services were held Saturday, July 15 in Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.

Curtis Lee Parsons, age 45, of Castroville passed away July 14, 2005.  Curtis was born Dec. 26, 1959, in Ft. Sumter, South Carolina.  Visitation was held prior to the  memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday,  July 17, at the Medina Valley United Methodist Church in Castroville.

Col. Jimmy T. Rice, USAF (Ret.) passed away on Monday, July 1, 2005, in Norman, OK. He was born 87 years ago, in Greenville.  Funeral service was held at 11:30 Wednesday, July 6, in St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Entombment followed in Sunset Mausoleum 5000.

Evarista "Eva" Aguirre Rymers, age 78, of Castroville  passed away July 30, 2005, in San Antonio.   Eva was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Castroville.  Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at St. Louis Catholic Church. The Mass was held Wednesday, Aug. 3, 10 a.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.

Domingo Sanchez, 84, of Lockney passed away  July 22, 2005.  He was born Oct. 16, 1920, in Hondo.  Rosary as recited Sunday, July 24, and Funeral Mass was held Monday, both at San Jose Catholic Church in Lockney. Georgia Sanchez of Bigfoot went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2005, at the age of 63.  Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 10. A 2 p.m. funeral service was held on Monday, July 11, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints in Hondo. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Devine.

Jacinto Sanchez, age 62, passed away on July 15, 2005, in San Antonio.  He was born Aug. 17, 1942, in Hondo.  Prayer service was held Tuesday, July 19, at 7 p.m. and the funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, both at Guinn-Horger Chapel.  Burial was at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

John Duane Tarvin Sr.,  age 71, of Hondo passed away July 24, 2005, from lung cancer. John was born March 17, 1934, in Havana, IL.  A prayer service was held on Wednesday, July 27, 9:30 a.m., at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. His wishes were to be cremated.

Elida Quintanilla Trevino, age 68, of Uvalde passed away July  22, 2005, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. She was born March 18, 1937, in Hondo.  Funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Uvalde with Fr. Anthony Mendoza officiating. Interment in Hondo Cemetery, Hondo.

Matilde Trevino of Hondo went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2005, at the age of  82.  Visitation was on Tuesday and Wednesday. Rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and a Prayer Service was held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The funeral procession Thursday, July 21, at 9:30 a.m. for 10 a.m.  Mass  at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment  in Guadalupe Section of Hondo Cemetery.

Mary "Marie" Magdalen Echtle Tschirhart, age 85, of Devine passed away July 3, 2005, in San Antonio. Mary was born Feb. 22, 1920, in Bexar County.   Mass was held Tuesday, July 5, at  7 p.m. and Rosary was recited Wednesday at 10 a.m., both at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment followed the rosary at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

Angela Jean Utterback, age 25, of Devine passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born in Hondo, November 25, 1979. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29, at Black Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Jones officiating. Interment followed in Tomerlin Cemetery.

Angelica Vasquez, age 93, passed away Friday, July 15, 2005. She was born Jan. 18, 1912, in D'Hanis.  Rosary was at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 19 at Memorial Home and Mass was at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Guadalupe Church with graveside service at Fort Sam Cemetery at 11:15 a.m.

Juan Manuel "J.M." De Leon, Sr., age 47, of Castroville, passed away Aug. 12, 2005, in San Antonio.  Juan was born March 4, 1958, in Hondo. Royce Russell Hartmann, age 62, passed away on Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, in rural Medina County, in a heavy equipment accident.   He was born on July 18, 1943, in Quihi.   Funeral service was at 3 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. James Everette Jacobs, age 66, of Castroville passed away Aug. 15, 2005, at his home. James was born Apr. 9, 1939, in Jordan, IN.   His wishes were to be cremated. A private memorial service was held.

Maria De La Luz "Mary" (Garcia) Mares, age 65, passed away at her home in Hondo Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005.      She was born on June 8, 1940, in San Antonio.  Rosary was led by Epifania Ibarra and Jose D. Mares, at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 2, and Funeral Mass was Saturday at 10 a.m., both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Mass was officiated by Fr. Jeff Pehl and Deacon Richard Edminson.  Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Lucian E. Marty, age 91, passed away August 15, 2005. He was born in Castroville to Alsatian immigrant parents.  A tribute was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Porter Loring Mortuary North,  followed by closing remarks from Pastor Gene Nagy of Parkhills Baptist Church. A family graveside service will be held Tuesday.

Alejandro "Alex" Ortiz Sr., age 71, passed away on Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, in San Antonio.   He was born on December 6, 1933, in D'Hanis.  Rosary was recited Friday, Sept. 2, 9:30 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, both officiated by Fr. Wallis Stiles.  Burial was in San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Diane Padron of Hondo went to be with the Lord on Aug. 16, 2005, at the age of 45.   Visitation from 2 to 9 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Hondo Funeral Home. Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment in Hondo Cemetery.

Evah D. Ping entered eternal rest on Aug. 18, 2005. She was buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hondo on Sunday Aug. 21.   Evah was born on June 29, 1909, in Olney, IL. 

L. E. "Elmo" Pope of Hondo passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at the age of 83.    He was born on July 4, 1922, in Camp Wood.  Funeral Mass was held at 1  p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating, assisted by Deacon Richard Edminson. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Cynthia Danette "CynDee" Tidwell Render, age 51, of Macdona passed away Aug. 14, 2005, in San Antonio. CynDee was born Nov. 21, 1953, in Dallas.   Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church of La Coste. Federico Rodriguez Jr., age 58, of Moore passed away Sunday, August 14, 2005, in San Antonio. He was born in Bigfoot, Feb. 22, 1946.  Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Jose F. Puente officiating. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Pauline Marie Scott, age 98, passed away on Aug.1, 2005, in Hondo.  She was born on June 27, 1907, in D'Hanis.  Rosary was recited Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 7:30 p.m. and the Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Thursday, both services were officiated by Fr. Wallis J. Stiles and held at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis.  The Interment was at the Holy Cross Cemetery in D'Hanis.

Betty Ingaborg Nelson Smith was born July 14, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN.     Visitation was held Monday, Aug. 15,  at Hurley Funeral Home in Lytle.  Family received friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral service was conducted Tuesday, Aug. 16, 11 a.m., in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, Lytle.  Interment was at 1 p.m. at Ft. Sam National Cemetery.

Margarita S. Torres, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, in Hondo.  She was born Nov. 4, 1936, in Hondo.  Rosary was recited Friday, Aug. 19, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo, led by Epifania Ybarra. Edward Lesley Williams Sr. of Jourdanton passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at the age of 77. An oil field pumper, he was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Austin.  Visitation was held Thursday, Aug. 11, at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Graveside service was Friday, at 10 a.m. at the Jourdanton City Cemetery.

Maria Ramos Billalobos, age 98, of Devine passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, in Lytle.  Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Romeo Olivares officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.

Shirley Faye Bohmfalk of Yancey,  passed away Sept. 29, 2005, at the age of 64. She was born May 18, 1941, in Pearsall.   The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Vance R. Elliott, was held at 2 p.m. Sunday Oct. 2, at the Yancey United Methodist Church. Interment followed in Yancey Cemetery.

Anita Hernandez Camacho age 74, passed away on Sept. 24, 2005, in Castroville. She was born on Sept. 25, 1930, in Hondo.   Rosary was recited Monday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Funeral Mass was Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church officiated by Rev. Mary Lorene (Weaver) Cason of Hondo passed away Sept. 27, 2005, at the age of 89.  She was born March 10, 1916, in Brownwood.  The Funeral Service, officiated by Frank Perkins, was at 10 a.m. Friday Sept. 30, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home in Hondo.

Georgia May Chapman, age 86, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Vitas Hospice Care in San Antonio. She was born Sept. 13, 1919, in Uvalde  County.  Funeral service was held Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Sabinal. Interment followed in Sabinal Cemetery with Rev. Don Snyder and Rev. Robert Richarz officiating.  

Lt. Col. George B. Coyle, OD, US Army Ret., of Castroville, passed away Sept. 30, 2005, at the age of 77 in San Antonio.  George was born April 4, 1928, in San Antonio and raised there except for two years when his parents moved to Castroville when he was in the fourth and fifth grade.  Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 4, with Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Chapel. The Mass was held Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville.  Interment followed at 1 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Rosemarie Judith Elder, age 65, of Devine passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at her residence.  Graveside service was held at 11  a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Evergreen Cemetery with interment following.  Visitation was held at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Sylvia Medina Fohn of Hondo, passed away Sept. 26, 2005, at the age of 56.  She was born Oct. 24, 1948, in Cotulla.  The Rosary was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Jeff Pehl, was at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, both services at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment will follow in Hondo Cemetery, St. John Section.

Nancy Prue Foster, age 69, passed away at her residence in BanderaFriday, Sept. 9, 2005, following an extended illness. She was born on Feb. 12, 1936, and grew up in Bandera where she graduated from high school in 1954. Rosary will be held on Monday, Sept. 19, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Bandera, and a memorial service  held  on Tuesday, Sept. 20,  at 10 a.m. with Father Stan Oleksy officiating.

Alvin J. Gates of Hondo and Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on Sept. 29, 2005, at the age of 97.  Graveside service was held on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK.

Kenneth Earl Ginnow, age 83, passed away on Friday, Sept. 9, 2005. He was born on June 12, 1922, in Neenah, WI.   Visitation was Monday, Sept. 12, at the Guinn- Horger Chapel. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 13, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor David Mayer officiating. Interment was in the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Geraldo Gonzales of Hondo passed away on September 10, 2005, at the age of 50.  Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Hondo Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Sept. 14, at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment followed in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Vicenta (Bessie) Lozano Gonzales, age 70,  passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, in Hondo.  The family invited her friends  to join them for the burial of her ashes on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at 2 p.m. on the family ranch 3155 US Highway 90, Castroville.

Laura E. Halbardier of Hondo, passed away Sept. 19, 2005, at the age of 95.   She was born June 26, 1910, near San Antonio to Carl A. and Augusta Marie (Becker) Kossaeth.   Funeral Service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hondo with Rev. David Mayer officiating.  Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Baby Zachary Ryan Hermes of Hondo passed away on Sept. 15, 2005.  Baby Zachary is survived by his parents, Noah and Ashlee Hermes; sisters, Adyson Lee and Katelyn Nyzomie Hermes; grandparents, Brenda and William Horan;  Rebecca and Michael Dugi, and Glenn Hermes. A graveside service was held on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Hondo Cemetery.

Francisca Salazar Hernandez age 86, passed away on Sept. 14, 2005, in San Antonio.  She was born on April 2, 1919, in Hondo.  Rosary was led by Epifania Ibarra and Joe Mares on Friday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m, and the Funeral Mass was held Saturday,  2 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Jeff Pehl.  Interment was in the Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Sherry Elizabeth Heyen, age 58, of Hondo passed away Sept. 15, 2005.  A memorial service was held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20.

Vivie J. Hill, 86, of St. Simon's Island, GA, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005.  A private service will be held later in Brackettville.

William August Honig, age 89, of Hondo passed away Sept. 22, 2005.  He was born on Nov. 22, 1915 on his grandmother's ranch at Salt Branch, near Doss.  Funeral service was at 2 p.m., Sept. 26, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. David J. Mayer officiating. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Jack Charles Kelly Sr., age 64, of San Antonio/ Castroville,  passed awayTuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, in San Antonio.     Jack was born Nov. 9, 1940, in Vernon. Gayle Glenda Lee,  64, of San Antonio, passed away Sept. 6, 2005. She was born Oct. 3, 1944 in the Philippines during WWII.     Memorial service was held Thursday, Sept. 8, at the First United Methodist Church, Hondo.

Stephen Wayne Mayer of Hondo passed away Sept. 28, 2005, at the age of 56.   Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30. Chapel service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Hondo Funeral Home. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Eugene Elvin Pennington Sr., age 66, of Sabinal  passed away in Sept.11, 2005, in Medina Community Hospital in Hondo. He was born in Sabinal July 2, 1939.   A graveside service was held at Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Sabinal Cemetery with Rev. Monty Benson officiating.

Hugo A. Schweers Jr. a long-time resident of Austin passed away at Lake Tahoe, CA on Sept. 28, 2005. He was born July 27, 1918 in Hondo.   A memorial service was held at St. Martin's Lutheran Church at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10. Burial will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

LT Billy "Bill" W. Stevenson USN Ret., age 64, of Castroville, passed away Sept. 25, 2005, in San Antonio. Billy was born July 8, 1941, in Weslaco.   Visitation Thursday, Sept. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Nelda Minnie Justine Beard of Quihi, passed away Oct.12, 2005, at the age of 84.  She was born Aug. 4, 1921, in Quihi.   Visitation was on Friday, Oct. 14, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday at the New Fountain United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Bill Treude. Interment was at the Quihi Cemetery.

Jerry Benavides, age 40 passed away from this life on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, in Bucaramanga, Colombia. He was born Dec. 22, 1964.  Funeral service was held on Saturday, Oct. 8, in Hondo. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Thomas E. Bradshaw joined the Lord on Oct. 5, 2005, after a short illness. He was born on May 30, 1917, in Green Forest AR, the 13th of 15 children. Viewing was from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 and 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Ross Chandler led services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11. Interment followed at 1:15 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. A celebration of Thomas' life was held at First Baptist Church following the ceremony.

Cruz Ledesma Corona of Tacoma, WA, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at the age of 68. She was born March 3, 1937, in Hondo.   A graveside memorial service was held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, with Deacon Richard Edminson officiating, at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Ira W. Crutchfield, age 89, of Devine went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005.  Visitation was held on Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Funeral Home. Funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, in Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following at Evergreen Cemetery.

Austin Franklin, age 83, of Devine passed away Tuesday, Oct.18, 2005, in San Antonio.  Visitation was held 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the funeral home.  Funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct 21, in Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following at Evergreen Cemetery.

Felice Contreras Garcia, age 53, of Hondo, passed away on Oct. 12, 2005.   Visitation was from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday Oct. 14 and 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Maria L. Gomez of D'Hanis passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at the age of 83. She was born Feb. 12, 1922, in LaCoste.  Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and the Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, both at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis and officiated by Fr. Wallis J. Stiles.

Antonio Estevan Gonzalez, age 97, of La Coste, passed away Oct. 5, 2005 in Castroville. He was born Sept. 2, 1908 in Villa de Carmen, Mexico. The Tondre- Guinn Funeral Home was open for Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, and from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 7. A Prayer Service, led by Fr. John Mannion was held Thursday, Oct. 6,  at 7 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Graveside was held on Friday, Oct. 7, at 10:15 a.m. at the Castroville Community Cemetery in Castroville, with Fr. John Mannion officiating. Interment followed the service at Castroville Community Cemetery in Castroville.

Mary Elizabeth Diehl Heinze, age 74, of Castroville passed away Oct. 12, 2005, in San Antonio. Mary was born Sept. 1, 1931, in Trenton, NJ.  Her wishes were to be cremated. Private family memorial service at a later date.

Rachel Johana Mangold Hutzler, age 87, of La Coste passed away Oct. 10, 2005, in San Antonio.  Rachel was born Nov. 7, 1917, in La Coste.  The Tondre-Guinn Chapel was open for visitation Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. The Mass of Resurrection Thursday, Oct. 13, 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment followed the mass at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery in La Coste.

Charlie Joseph Jackel, age 80, of Atascosa, passed away October 8, 2005 at his home. Charlie was born December 18, 1924, in Atascosa.  The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home was open for visitation on Monday, Oct. 10, 2005 from 12 noon to 5:30 p.m. The Rosary was at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, 2005 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Macdona.  Funeral Mass was at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church, Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. Interment followed the mass in Hermann Sons Cemetery, Macdona.

Delores LaVerne Kasting Tomlinson, age 72, of San Antonio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005.   Delores was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Cransville Gap.  Funeral service was held Saturday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment at the Castroville Community Cemetery.

Clarence Jerome (C.J. or Jerry) Krenmueller was born June 16, 1938 in Hondo. He passed away on Oct. 9, 2005, in Seattle Washington after a yearlong battle with cancer.

Anna Lou McWhirter entered into rest Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital. She was born in Greenville, on Nov. 10, 1946.  Funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, Hondo. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Woodmen of the World Section. 

Natividad Muniz, age 64, of Sabinal passed away Oct. 4, 2005, in San Antonio. He was born in D'Hanis, Dec. 25, 1940. Funeral service was at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel in Sabinal with Father, Ken Dakin officiating. Interment followed in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Sabinal.

Mayme Ida Nester of D'Hanis passed away Oct. 10, 2005, at the age of 89.   She was born Dec. 11, 1915, in D'Hanis.   Funeral Service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel, officiated by Rev. Wallis J. Stiles. Interment was at the Woodmen of the World Cemetery in D'Hanis.

Alejos Quintanilla of Hondo, passed away October 5, 2005, at the age of 82. He was born May 8, 1923, in Mexico.  The Rosary was at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Jeff Pehl, was at 1 p.m. Saturday Oct. 8, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo.  Interment in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Ismael Ramirez, of Hondo, passed away Oct. 22, 2005, at the age of 36.   Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25. Funeral Mass was at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Halle Rodriguez of D'Hanis, was delivered to Jesus on Oct. 24, 2005, at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.   Service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, followed by interment at the San Francisco Cemetery in D'Hanis.

Viola Violet (Chamberlain) Ryan of Lytle, passed away October 2, 2005, at the age of 89. She was born July 15, 1916, in Sweetwater.  Visitation from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. The Graveside Service, officiated by Pastor Cliff Harden, was at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 5, at the Quihi Cemetery.

Mathis Henry Saathoff, age 90, of Hondo/Quihi, passed away Oct. 27, 2005, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mathis was born June 18, 1915, in Hondo.   Visitation was on Friday, Oct. 28, starting at noon with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Mass of Resurrection was held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery.

MSGT Marvin Ahr Schirhart, USAF retired, age 76, of Castroville passed away October 13, 2005.  Marvin was born Nov. 1, 1928, in Castroville.  Funeral Mass was held Monday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Rosary was recited Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Interment was at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Benjamin Harold Snowden, age 86, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, in Cedar Park. He was born Nov. 15, 1918, in Union, MS.  Funeral service was held Oct. 22, at Beck Funeral Home in Round Rock, lead by Mr. Snowden's pastor from Shenandoah Baptist Church in Cedar Park. A  military color guard presented a U.S. flag to the Snowden family in honor of Mr. Snowden's service to our country. Interment was at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, with full military honors.

Thomas Arnold Taylor of San Antonio, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at the age of 95.  He was born April 14, 1910, on Taylor Lane near Hondo.  A private interment service held at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section, officiated by Ross Chandler, pastor of First Baptist Church of Hondo.

Patsy Ruth Tonne of Edmond, OK passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005.    Funeral service was held Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at the Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, OK.

Andres Aguilar, of Moore, passed away November 26, 2005, in San Antonio at the age of 81. He was born in Moore, Nov. 30, 1923. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Jose F. Puente officiating. Interment was in Moore Catholic Cemetery.

Alvin Joseph Arnold of San Antonio went to be with the Lord on Nov. 23, 2005, after a short illness with cancer.  "Joe" was born on Nov. 4, 1921.    Visitation was held Friday, Nov. 25, at Sunset Funeral Home.  Graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26 at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

Ethel Schuehle Baker of rural Hondo passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005.    She was born June 1, 1921, at the family ranch north of Hondo.     Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. David Mayer officiating. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Mervin A. Batot of Hondo passed away Tuesday, Nov.  22, 2005, at the age of 93.  He was born Aug. 31, 1912, in Hondo.  Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, and Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Jeff Pehl, was at 10 a.m. Saturday Nov. 26, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section.

Meta Marie Bekken of Devine passed away on Monday, Nov. 14, 2005.  Memorial service was held Nov. 20, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Devine.

Robert S. "Bud" Bendele of Canyon Lake passed away November 8, 2005, at the age of 79. He was born July 5, 1926, in Hondo.   Memorial service, officiated by Pastor David Mayer, was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at the Guinn- Horger Funeral Home Chapel in Hondo.

Don Blalock, age 66, passed away Nov. 20, 2005, in Devine.  Visitation was held Wednesday, Nov. 23, and Funeral Service held Friday, Nov. 25, at 9:00 a.m., both at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Devine. Interment  in Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.

Dr. Al Willis Bourquin, PhD., of Castroville, age 62, passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005.  Al was born March 2, 1943, in Castroville.   Visitation was Wednesday, Nov. 9, and Prayer Service was held at 7 p.m. at the Tondre- Guinn Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection in celebration of his life was Thursday, Nov. 10, 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church with interment in St. Louis Cemetery.

Col. (USAF Ret.) Henry Bryn Briscoe, 79, left this life he loved on Monday, Nov. 14, 2005.  Henry Bryn Briscoe was born in Sherman, Texas, on April 10, 1926.   Visitation was held Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Devine.  Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, at the First Baptist Church, Devine. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. 

Dorothy June "Dotty" Brotherton, age 76, of Del Rio passed away Nov. 13, 2005.  Funeral service was held, at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church. Reverend Paul May and Deacon Robert Kuesenberger officated. Interment was in Westlawn Cemetery in Del Rio. 

Jorge Emery, age 48, of Natalia, passed away Nov. 26, 2005 in San Antonio, He was born in El Paso, Aug. 8, 1957.    Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Ortiz officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.

Indalecio Gonzalez Jr. of Hondo passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at the age of 99.   He was born August 30, 1906, in Eagle Pass.  Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Guinn-Horger Chapel and Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Jeff Pehl, was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Terry T. Green, age 76, of Hondo, passed away Nov. 8, 2005. Winifred "Winnie" Graham Hoesley, age 76, of Castroville, passed away Nov. 17, 2005. Winnie was born Aug. 6, 1929, in Blanchardville, WI.  The Memorial Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 10 a.m. at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Clotilda "Tillie" Ahr Jungman, age 96, of Castroville,  passed away Nov. 27, 2005.   Tillie was born July 2, 1909, in Castroville.  Visitation at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home was held Tuesday, Nov. 29, with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Ruth Niell Karm, beloved mother, sister, wife, teacher and friend went home to Our Lord on Saturday, Nov 12, 2005.   Ruth Gertru(d)e Niell was born in Coleman County, Texas, on Nov. 29, 1916.  Visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Tondre- Guinn Chapel.  Funeral Service was Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Baptist Temple in San Antonio with reception following. Interment was at 2 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville.

Medford Earl Keath Sr., passed into life on Nov. 14, 2005, at the age of 90.  Born at his family home in Beaukiss, on Feb. 8, 1915. Funeral arrangements are through Rushing-Estes-Knowles Funeral Home. Visitation on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m.  Funeral services Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Sabinal, at 3:00 p.m.  Interment in the Sabinal Cemetery.

Amos W. Keith Sr. born on June 11, 1921 in Brownwood, entered into rest on Nov. 20, 2005, at the age of 84 years. Graveside service and interment were held Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood.

Thomas E. "Tom" Moseley, 72, of San Antonio died Nov. 27, 2005.  Memorial service Friday, Dec. 2, 1 p.m., at Trinity Baptist Church, 319 E. Mulberry, San Antonio.

Ramona O. Muniz of Hondo passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at the age of 70.  She was born Jan. 5, 1935, in D'Hanis.  Rosary, led by Epifania Ybarra, was at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Jeff Pehl, was at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

W. Jean Nester, age 77, passed away in Houston on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005. She was born June 11, 1928, in Hondo.  Memorial services were held Wednesday, Nov.16, at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Houston. Interment at a later date at Hondo Cemetery.

Christine Marie Peden, 37, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at her home.  Christine died peacefully in her sleep of heart failure related to diabetes with which she had lived for many years.  Christine was born on Dec. 18, 1967, in New Orleans, LA.   Funeral service was held at 4 p.m, Tuesday, Nov. 22, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery, both in Waco. 

Pedro Ortega Pimentel Sr., went to be with the Lord on Nov. 1, 2005, at the age of 73. He died unexpectedly and will be greatly missed. He was born on March 22, 1932, in LaCoste.   Visitation was Friday, Nov. 4, with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Robert Harold Patteson, age 44, of Devine passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2005, in San Antonio. He was born in Dilley, Sept. 22, 1961.    Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Lytle Community Cemetery.

Bettie F. Powers, age 81, passed away Nov. 5, 2005, in Devine.  Visitation was held Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Hurley Funeral Home in Devine and Friday, Nov. 11, at Ebersole Mortuary, Conway Springs, KS. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Viola Cemetery in Viola, KS.

Hazel Etta Prescott, age 82,  passed away on Nov. 8, 2005,  at RHD Hospital in Farmers Branch.  She was born Oct. 25, 1923 in Minden, LA.  A graveside service was held on Nov. 12, 2005, where she was laid to rest near all her family who have gone on before her.

Leoniel D. Rodriguez of Hondo, passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at the age of 50.   He was born Aug. 11, 1955, in Hondo.  Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Jeff Pehl, was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

James E. Smith, born on January 27, 1921,went to be with our Lord on Nov. 15, 2005.   He will be greatly missed.  Rosary was held on Thursday, Nov. 17, at Hurley Funeral Home in Devine.  Funeral Mass was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Devine.

Diana Dawn Thomas, age 39, of Sabinal passed away November 12, 2005, at her residence. She was born July 10, 1966, in Shamrock.   Graveside services were at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at Aldine Cemetery with Rev. Holt Tuck officiating.

On Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, Mary Kiolbassa Winkler passed from this life into her eternal paradise and peace.  Mary Winkler was born June 8, 1903  in the small community of Carpenter, TX.    Visitation was on Monday, Nov. 14, and the Rosary recited at Tondre-Guinn Chapel. Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment followed the Mass at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery in La Coste.

Margaret Mary Ackermann of D'Hanis passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at the age of 93.  She was born May 21, 1912, in D'Hanis.   Rosary was recited at 9:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 26, at Holy Cross Catholic Church followed by the Funeral Mass, both officiated by Rev. Wallis J. Stiles. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Cristella Alvarado of Hondo, born March 27, 1984, in Hondo, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 18, 2005, at the age of 21.  Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Kelli Lynn Bippert, age 13, of Lytle, passed away Dec. 17, 2005, at her grandparents home in Castroville, surrounded by her loving family.   Kelli was born May 11, 1992, in San Antonio, and was in the eighth grade at Lytle High School.   She is survived by her mother, Marcie Timberlake; brother, Klayton Bippert and half brother, Anthony Crumley; father, Kelly Bippert and his wife, Elizabeth; and Kelli's half brothers, Timothy and Kyle Bippert.   Mass of the Angels celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville.

Charles Anthony Borkert, age 24, born on April 8, 1981, in Corpus Christi, entered into rest on Dec. 12, 2005.  Memorial service was held on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Alamo Funeral Chapels with Pastor Cary Borkert, officiating.

Rosario "Chayo" Lopez Dominguez, of Hondo, passed away December 1, 2005, at the age of 78. Rosario was born on Oct. 10, 1927, in Coalmine. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, and Funeral Mass at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 5, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Lynn Ray Ferris, age 54, of Hondo passed away Dec. 13, 2005.   He was born June 11, 1951, in Fredericksburg.  Lynn was cremated and memorial service will be at a later date.

George M. "Marc" Finger Sr., 67, of Spring went to be with Jesus on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005.   Funeral service Thursday, Dec. 8, at Rosewood Humble Chapel with Pastor Stephen Brantley officiating. Interment  at Rosewood Memorial Park, Humble.

Estefana Flores, age 92, of Lytle, born Dec. 26, 1912, in Lytle, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 16, 2005.  Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday evening. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Lytle. Interment followed in Lytle Latin Community Cemetery.

Nell Black Fly of Katy passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at the age of 88.  She was born April 8, 1917, in Atlanta, GA.   Graveside service, officiated by Pastor Vance Elliott of Yancey Methodist Church, was at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Frank Anthony Fournier Jr. went peacefully to be with the Lord  Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at his home in Quihi, at the age of 88 years.  Frank was born in San Antonio April 18, 1918. Prayer service was held on Friday, Dec. 9. Funeral service was held Saturday, Sept. 10, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo.  Interment followed at Mission South Cemetery in San Antonio.

Trinidad Garcia, age 86, of Hondo went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2005. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec.5, and funeral mass was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery.

Maria de Jesusa Garza, age 86, of Hondo, passed away Dec. 15, 2005. She was born June 5, 1919, in D'Hanis.   Rosary was at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Jeff Pehl, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Interment in Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Benigno Gomez of Devine, went to be with the Lord on December 4, 2005, at the age of 71. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Interment followed in St. Joseph Cemetery in Devine.

Maurice Clark Hans, age 72, of Castroville, passed away Dec. 3, 2005. Maurice was born April 17, 1933.  The Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at 2 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment followed the Prayer Service at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville.

Lowell E. Hapner, age 71, of Castroville passed away Dec. 16, 2005.   Lowell was born Dec. 24, 1933, in Farmersville, OH.   The family will hold a memorial graveside service for the interment of his ashes at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at the Castroville Community Cemetery in Castroville.

Ralph J. Jones, age 87, passed away Dec. 31, 2005, in Hondo.  He was born in Boston, MA, Dec. 19, 1918.    Funeral service at St. John's Catholic Church at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 6.  Interment at Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section.

Amelia S. Klemcke,  age 102, of Somerset passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, in Lytle. Funeral service was conducted Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. in the Somerset United Methodist Church. Interment was in Rambie Grove Cemetery, Somerset.

Leo James Koch, age 76, of Temple passed away peacefully at a local hospital on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005. He was born on March 28, 1929, in D'Hanis. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the funeral home.  A funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Ranjan Cletus officiating. Interment followed in Bellwood Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jessie Margaret Koehler, 93, of Atascosa passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, at her residence.   Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m Tuesday, Dec. 27, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Lytle. Interment was at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Somerset.

Jonathan J. Kowalik, age 46, of Devine born Feb. 27, 1958, in San Antonio, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 16, 2005.   Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18. A Funeral Mass was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Lytle. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Devine.

John B. "J.B." Langfeld, age 79, of San Antonio, passed away Dec. 1, 2005. John was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Medina County.  Rosary was recited on Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at 9:45 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.  Interment followed at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, D'Hanis

Dorothy F. Lanier, age 74, of Natalia passed away Thursday, Dec.  29, 2005, in San Antonio. She was born in Odessa, March 14, 1931. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2,  at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Mr. Ivan Chant.

Robert Hal Lawrence Sr., age 74, of Devine passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, in Hondo. He was born August 14, 1931, in Fort Worth.   Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home, Devine. Masonic graveside service, under the  auspices of Davy Crockett Lodge No. 1225 A.F. & A.M., was conducted at 1 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, with interment to follow.

Danny Lopez, age 38, of Devine passed away, December 1, 2005. He was born in Lubbock, Dec. 28, 1966.  Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Primera Iglesia Bautista Betania. Interment followed in Black Creek Cemetery.

Reynaldo Tapia Lopez of Hondo, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 11, 2005, at the age of 43.     Visitation was from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14  and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at Hondo Funeral Home. Prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at Hondo Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hondo Cemetery.

Cruz Ybarra Martinez, age 87, of Lytle, passed away on Dec. 13, 2005. She was born on May 4, 1918 in La Coste.  Visitation 9  a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, and 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Lytle. Rosary  recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.  Friday, Dec. 16, at Hondo Funeral Home. Interment in Lytle Latin Community Cemetery

Opal R. McAllister, age 87, was welcomed into Jesus' arms on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, after a lengthy illness.   A memorial service  held to celebrate her life on January 7, 2006, at Village Parkway Baptist Church, Culebra at Village Parkway, San Antonio, Dr. Steve Branson will officiate.

Jerry Wayne McDuffie,  age 64, of Hondo, passed away Monday, December 19, 2005, after a year long battle with a heart condition.     He was born May 14, 1941, in Corinth, MS.   A memorial service held in Tennessee in May for friends and family. On May 14, 2006, his wife will spread his ashes on the Tennessee River.

Laura Evelyn Tschirhart Jungman Muennink, age 88, of Castroville passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, in San Antonio.   Laura was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Bexar County.    Funeral Mass was held at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church on Wednesday, Dec. 28.   The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home open at 8:30 a.m., prior to the Rosary at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, with interment following at St. Louis Cemetery, Castroville

Aureliano "Lanny" Muñiz of Hondo passed away Saturday, Dec.10, 2005, at the age of 71. He was born Nov. 12, 1934, in Hondo.  Rosary, led by Epifania Ybarra, followed by the Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Jeff Pehl, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment was at San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.

Amada Oranday of Hondo passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at the age of 97.   She was born Sept. 13, 1908, in Juarez, Mexico.   Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo with Epifania Ybarra leading. Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Jeff Pehl, was held at 12 Noon Saturday at St. John's.  Interment was in Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Mary Jo Herbold Patterson passed away in Houston on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005.  Mary Jo was born in Warren, OH, Oct. 15, 1917,.  A memorial service  held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at 10:15 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hondo. Reverend Beverly Burk will conduct the service.

Maria T. "Grandma" Reyes passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Dec. 23, 2005, in Aurora, IL. Grandma was born Oct. 7, 1922, in Pearson.   A liturgical wake service was held Monday, Dec. 26, at The Healy Chapel in Aurora, IL.   Visitation  from 2 until 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Chapel of Hurley Funeral Home, Devine, with Rosary recited at 7 p.m.  Mass celebrated Friday, Dec. 30, at 10 a.m. at St John Bosco Catholic Church. Interment  at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Martha Elizabeth Schweers Santleben, age 86, of Tacoma, WA, formerly of Hondo,  passed away Dec. 13, 2005, in Tacoma, WA.     She was born Nov. 1, 1919, in Hondo.   Graveside memorial service and interment of her ashes Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Castroville.

Martha "Pug" Daniel Schweers passed away peacefully December 4, 2005, in her home. She was born in Powell County, Kentucky, October 13, 1920.  Graveside service was at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday Dec. 7, at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

Walter Dee Sullivan, age 86, of Natalia passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2005. Walter was born Dec. 27, 1918, in Big Spring.  Funeral service was held Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Natalia. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery, Devine.

Todd Phillip Thoele, age, 36, of Georgetown, formerly of Carrollton, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, in Oklahoma City.    He was born July 16, 1969, in Dallas.  Rosary was led by Deacon Ray Moore at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service was at 10 a.m., Friday, at Faith Lutheran Church in Georgetown with Pastor John Selle, officiating. Burial was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown.

Creed O. Traylor, 76, of Devine passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, in San Antonio. Visitation Friday, Dec. 16 from 2 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment  at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Devine.  Hurley Funeral Home, Devine

Oliver Powell Tuck, born Feb. 14, 1933, in Deerfield, IL passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2005, in Cedar Park at the age of 72 years. Funeral service was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Roy Akers-Zizik Kearns Funeral Chapels, San Antonio. Interment was at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Caroline P. Vara, a native of San Antonio, born on Oct. 1, 1912, entered rest on Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at the age of 93.  Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Roy Akers-Zizik Kearns Funeral Chapels with Bruce Young officiating. Graveside service followed at noon at Hondo Cemetery in Hondo.

Pauline Villarreal, age 69, of Natalia passed away December 1, 2005. She was born in Natalia on January 26, 1936.  Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church with Father Romeo Olivares officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Jim Zavala, age 91, of Devine, passed away Dec. 13, 2005, in Lytle. He was born in San Antonio, April 3, 1914.  Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16 at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
