Jimmie G. Chessher Sr
Jimmie G. Chessher Sr., age 69, of Atascosa passed away Saturday, July 14, 2001, in San Antonio. Jimmy and his late wife, Melva, organized and led the Medina County Trail Ride for some 30 years, raising funds for the Medina County Association for Exceptional Citizens sheltered workshop program. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, in Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: St. Joseph's Cemetery in Devine. Bettye Bridgman Crow-Peterson
Bettye Bridgman Crow-Peterson of Lytle and San Antonio, age 72, passed away July 21, 2001. She was born on Nov. 14, 1928, in San Angelo. Memorial service: 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 25 at Porter Loring Chapel. Private burial service was held at San Fernando Cemetery #3.

Maria DeLua
Maria DeLua was born Jan. 4, 1925, in Laredo, one of 12 children. Mrs. DeLua lived in San Antonio throughout most of her life. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, SanAntonio. Interment: Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Augustine G. Estrada, age 75, of Lytle passed away Sunday, July 22, 2001, in San Antonio. He was born in Lytle, May 5, 1926.

Sterling C. Evans
Sterling C. Evans, age 101, of Brackettville, formerly of Castroville, passed away July 5, 2001, in Del Rio. He was born in Black Creek settlement Aug. 5, 1899. A 1921 graduate of Texas A&M University, he was the "most senior Aggie" for some time. He was a former member of the Board of Regents of Texas A&M. He played a key role in making military training optional and accepting women at A&M. In 1940 he became president of the Federal Land Bank and during the 20 years he served, the FLB of Texas became the model for farm and ranch long-term financing throughout the nation. Funeral: Tuesday, July 10, 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Castroville, with burial in Community Cemetery.

Esperanza Maria (Cabrera) Frausto, age 69, of Hondo passed away July 30, 2001. She was born on Dec. 20, 1932, in Biry.

Charles Wesley Gabehart, age 89, passed away on July 12, 2001, in San Antonio. He was born Dec. 4, 1911, in Caddo County, OK. He had been in the service station business nearly 50 years. Stella M. Mahoney Kenney, age 93, of Somerset passed away July 19, 2001 at her home. Stella was born Mar. 1, 1908, in San Patricio. Mass of Resurrection: 10 a.m, Saturday, July 21 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment followed in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery near Somerset. Joseph Louis Koch Sr., age 81, died in San Antonio on July 13, 2001. He was born on Mar. 18, 1920. He retired from the oil and gas business in Houston and moved to his ranch in Yancey, later to Corpus Christi, and finally settled back in San Antonio where he was born.
